I have to give this place another star! So a couple months ago I go in as see they have Huavos Rancheros. I ask them to take that combination and make it a burrito for me. Every other place and even this place (previously) refused to do this. But this time, The Momma Cook did it for me (beans, rice, eggs, sauce, everything!). This Heavenly Ova Vegetarian Burrito in my opinion is not too "meat heavy," and is my new favorite burrito in Ramona! Today, No need for anything to be added. I had it for like the 6th time. I went with the standard carne asada burrito. Good tortilla, decent amount of carne and guacamole, but the pico de gallo was really heavy on the onions. I didn't care so much after drowning it in salsa, but lunch cancelled out any chances for any afternoon makeout session. Service was fast, but not the friendliest. The cashier didn't call out any ticket numbers or food orders. Instead, she yelled out, "Order ready!" Salsa is a good option to satisfy your taco shop cravings. Recently tried the carne aside fries at Salsa Mexican Food. I had never tried fries in a taco shop dish before (including the so-called California burrito). I can see I haven't been missing much. I honestly don't understand the attraction. First few bites were decent, but the fries quickly became all soggy and cold which made it a chore to eat. I'd much rather have a pile of carne served over hot, fresh and crispy tortilla chips. I can see this being really good though if you've drank too much! Otherwise, it just seems too heavy... The taquitos here are on the thin side, but points for service on a real plate! And a really good Mexican guacamole. No real salsa bar here, just bottles of squirt hot sauce. Sometimes a place earns a good review not so much for the product, but rather for the service. The food here is pretty good. Rolled tacos, adobada burrito, carne asada. What earned this review was Lizbeth. I had ordered a beef chimichanga but my girl cannot eat onions. Got home and discovered the beef had onion mixed in to the sauce. Had already requested no pico for the onion issue. It was an honest oversight (they had in fact, left out the pico as requested). Returned with the item and explained. Lizbeth was very courteous and had no problem swapping it for a slightly different item. She even said to keep the returned item. My girl might not eat it, but I sure will. Was not expecting to keep the chimichanga, but it sure was a nice gesture on their part. Thanks Lizbeth. Your customer service skills are top notch. read more

I have never heard of ground beef carne asada before, but this is what they made the carne asada taco with. If they were out of sliced beef, they should have told us. And the ground beef wasn't tender or flavorful. When you mislead your customers like that, don't expect them to return. My husband and I certainly won't. We also ordered the fajitas burrito. Although it was flavorful, it was much too watery. Liquid poured out and made a mess. Still won't return because I don't like being misled. I absolutely love the food at this place. The salsa is great, the portions are large. Just to put this in perspective - I moved away from the area for two years. The day I came back, I ate here. I missed it the whole time I was gone. I love the two beef tacos, the carne asada tacos, the breakfast burrito (add carne asada), and the carne asada burrito. (Ok, now I'm hungry) Couple of gripes. The place is pretty dirty looking. I recommend taking the food to go. The seats they have are really cramped and I do not looking at the environment, but the food is excellent! Oh, and they treat you like you are taking from their kids personal stash of salsa when you are asking for more. But when you eat in, they give you a plastic ketchup dispenser full of it. Flavor of food is good. However, these folks seem to have a hard time following directions and getting orders correct. It's happened a couple of times. I have been going here a long time, grew up in Ramona and lived here most my life, I use to LOVE this place but lately it has been lack luster. I ordered the rolled tacos 2x in the last 2 months and they were awful, real dry and mostly just rolled corn tortilla with barely any meat. I also ordered the carne asada fries and the fries were dry and hard, barely touched them. The cheese enchiladas were still fantastic, but the rice they put in my combo plate was about 2 tablespoons. The prices haven't gone down but the quality of food and portions seems to have. Hopefully it's just a covid thing and they will improve once again. read more
