Ordered the combo platter of spicy chicken and beef bulgogi with rice and veggies. Sooo tasty! The portions are fairly large, I had to take the remainder home to eat for lunch the following day!

It's really not that great. If you are craving bulgogi then I guess this is an option. But the meat is tough and heavily sauced

Food and service were great as always. Not sure why some recent reviews said otherwise. Owner takes such pride in her food.

    Ribs with fried rice--amazing!

What a gem! We were looking for a place to get lunch and possibly dinner, and this restaurant fit the bill in all regards. The portions were SO generous for the price, we had more than enough leftovers for dinner after eating lunch at one of the outdoor tables. The menu selection is huge, and the quality was fantastic. Seriously so many veggies, meat, etc. I don't know where I've ever gotten better quality and value for the price. The Korean ribs were amazing and fried rice was so good and filling. I only wish I was in town longer to try more dishes--there were at least a dozen things on the menu I wanted to try! And it's obvious so many people love this place because their lunch takeout business was truly hopping the entire time we were there, with all orders coming out promptly--people were just in and out with multiple orders. If I lived in the area this would be my go-to place and I would probably eat here a few times a week! Friendly service too. Such nice staff. This place will knock your socks off!

Nice simple hole in the wall Korean spot! I felt like a Korean mom was cooking homemade Korean staples!

Busy place for dinner & I can see why! Fresh & tasty food with generous portions and reasonable prices! The shrimp Shui Mai I ordered were light and flavorful. My beef bulgogi with Japche was very good although I would have appreciated some more veggies. Staff was pleasant and service was great. Looking forward to going back!

Excellent Excellent Excellent. The food is fantastic. Small little place on main drag. Clean and quick. But it's all about the food. The meat just falls off ribs and melts in your mouth. Beef bulgogi was excellent as well. Definitely recommend!

    Beef, obviously not tofu...

Found this place on Yelp when driving through the area after a short camping trip. This place is a little oasis... My wife and I both ordered the bibimbap - I had beef, and she foolishly had the tofu. Both were great, nicely served, quickly delivered to the table. Pictures don't do it justice, Really nice, modern take on a Korean classic. Everything was fresh, fresh, fresh. Friendly place, clean as can be. An outstanding meal at reasonable prices!

I'm back and it's grown. A lot. It's become a bonafide restaurant. Inside and outside seating. Same pleasant service. There are perhaps 10 tables inside and a few more outside. It's clean and fresh. The staff are friendly. I had dumplings and liked them. The servings are HUGE.

Welcome to the town of Monticello! Sleepy and quiet town, but found this restaurant/deli eatery serving up Korean fusion good eats to locals and tourists (us). Although most of the shops have shuttered, perhaps due to slow or lack of business; Salt & Pepper has lots of traffic. Grab dinner between 5pm - 6pm, otherwise wait or order out. Salt & Pepper is a good 10 min drive from the waterpark where we were staying for a mini-vaca. Seating inside with a few tables, and a few outdoor tables, clean bathroom and mild-service (sometimes with a side of tude!) but the owners are legit Korean "Ahjumma" and "Ahjussi" cooking up some yummy eats. Most platters are about $12 - $14 a plate but portion is again, huge! Give a tip at the cashier, it's not part of the bill and be generous! We ate here back to back, 2 nights in a row. Their portions are huge, we usually can't finish our food and we always left feeling stuffed (a little over stuffed...). What stood out: their fried rice that comes with the meal! The japchae deluxe with bulgogi is delicious! The pork ribs is tender and the pork pan fried dumplings is a must get! Bulgogi is better than chicken, pork is also well seasoned. Don't sleep on the pancake! So-so: We also tried their bibimbap (OK - if you like the deli style ones with salad instead of the traditional ones with stir fry veggies) and udon with seaweed broth (not for everyone). Overall, would definitely return if we ever end up in the Catskills again.

Burnt bulgogi was not great - don'tbe food by reviews!.

The taste of charcoal was very forward. The fried rice wasn't better. The teriyaki chicken was also on the burnt side. In town for a little relaxation but won't be repeating this place. My hopes were too high.

If you check out my posts, we love Korean BBQ. Unfortunately, the meats were all under seasoned. The pork belly was really bland, I tired dipping into the sauces but even that couldn't enhance the taste. My son loves egg soufflé and if you see the picture, this does not compare to the egg soufflés we've been to. Unfortunately, even the kids had a literal bad taste in their mouth. The cooking area was small and the heat not strong enough that after cooking the first 6 half strips of thinly sliced pork belly, we had to wait 7 minutes for the next batch to cook. Yeah, the place does look very deserted but picks up after 7-7:30 pm. Reading other reviews, I'm glad that some people find the place great but for Korean style BBQ and meat flavor, they totally missed the mark. You can definitely improve a lot on this.

Honestly it was refreshing to get good service that felt real. So the beef Ttukbaegi bulgogi, I thoroughly enjoyed, a lot of beef and well flavored and not an overkill of veggies. But would loved some more mushrooms though. The sauce/stew itself was really good, I keep drink it and pouring over my rice. I found the rice okay, but definitely jasmine over hard boiled rice preferred. I liked side salad and wish I had more, it had a-bit of spiced edge and was better than the typical ginger dressing you get. The bubble tea was perfect, not overly sweet and generous on the size of it, but definitely would do better in another glass since straw could not reach the boba pops well enough. another note, always appreciate a place that gives you large glass to refill your water.

I arrived early....just before 5pm on a weekday and had the place to myself for a little while. It's super clean with wonderful service, and there's k-pop playing on a big screen TV. What else could you want? How about absolutely outstanding food? Yes! I was hangry so I ordered a kimchi pancake and an order of bibimbap (no meat) with extra hot sauce. Before all that arrived, I was surprised and delighted by a perfect salad with amazing dressing that I'd like to bathe in and small cup of friggin' delicious pumpkin soup. My kimchi pancake was the spicy, carb-laden appetizer that I needed with a plentiful side of chili sauce. Then, my sizzling bibimbap arrived and I was thrilled to find purple rice under the fresh, assorted vegetables and fried egg. A side of kimchi and fish cakes accompanied my bibimbap. My iced ginger tea was sweet and a perfect complement to the rest of the meal. I almost polished off everything....loved that purple rice that got nice and crispy in that hot pot. Gochunjang tasted homemade...thick, spicy, savory and slightly sweet. The menu isn't extensive or overwhelming....it's just right. There's a nice selection of Makgeolli, so I got a bottle to take home with me for the weekend. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the neighborhood.

I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.
