Finally an authentic Korean restaurant located right off 209 in the town of Godeffroy NY. My wife and I discovered this unique Brand New restaurant through friends who live 5 minutes away. They specialize in fresh caught fresh water eel, trout and have some other Korean dishes along with all the kimchi sides you may be familiar with if you have dined authentic Korean cuisine before. This establishment is run by a very sweet couple Rosalyn and Peter Kim who had a restaurant in Wurtsboro ny before finding this gorgeous new space. The building is brand new and their customer base is Korean folks who travel from NYC and NJ to come and patronize their new venture. We spoke to Rosalyn about how the local community will be so welcoming as places like this gem are few and far between. Although their menu is short for now, they plan to expand it, have outdoor seating and a host of other attractions on the premises in the near future. We had the eel with sauce that was crunchy on one side and tender on the other and the bulgogi beef. The eel came out sizzling on a cast iron platter with an onion base that caramelized as it sat. The bulgogi was plated with rice noodles, broad noodles and some julienne peppers! Wonderful! The eel is made fresh so you should make a reservation and let them know you are going to have one of the eel dishes in advance (they are live before you arrive) They have a farm and all of the vegetables as well as the seafood are farm to table. They are also brewing and fermenting their own Makgeolli a traditional Korean rice wine. This is my first visit so I will be back to update my review as they expand the menu and drink selection. They just acquired their liquor license in January and the Makgeolli needs a month to ferment. This is going to be one of my new favorites as I come from Queens NY where I enjoy Korean cuisine all the time. Five stars all the

I arrived early....just before 5pm on a weekday and had the place to myself for a little while. It's super clean with wonderful service, and there's k-pop playing on a big screen TV. What else could you want? How about absolutely outstanding food? Yes! I was hangry so I ordered a kimchi pancake and an order of bibimbap (no meat) with extra hot sauce. Before all that arrived, I was surprised and delighted by a perfect salad with amazing dressing that I'd like to bathe in and small cup of friggin' delicious pumpkin soup. My kimchi pancake was the spicy, carb-laden appetizer that I needed with a plentiful side of chili sauce. Then, my sizzling bibimbap arrived and I was thrilled to find purple rice under the fresh, assorted vegetables and fried egg. A side of kimchi and fish cakes accompanied my bibimbap. My iced ginger tea was sweet and a perfect complement to the rest of the meal. I almost polished off everything....loved that purple rice that got nice and crispy in that hot pot. Gochunjang tasted homemade...thick, spicy, savory and slightly sweet. The menu isn't extensive or overwhelming....it's just right. There's a nice selection of Makgeolli, so I got a bottle to take home with me for the weekend. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the neighborhood.

Couldn't decide so we ordered a few apps (KFC chicken, edamame and scallion pancake) all of which were delicious. Decided to get bao buns and fried rice. Note: ordered chicken and shrimp but should have specified we wanted one dish with both meats - instead we got 2 bowls - which just means more for lunch tomorrow! Staff stayed calm when the lights flickered a few times and just said "hopefully the chefs are almost done with your meals because we don't have a generator"). Had to dodge a few broken trees on 94 on the way home but all in all a great meal! Also it's BYOB but really didn't miss the wine - Yuzu ade was refreshing on this 90+ degree day.

Blue Spice has been on my to-do list for literally years, and Monday was finally the day. I stopped…read moreby for lunch with my top-tier chum, a native of the Kingdom of Sussex who has been here before and has spoken highly of it. I don't know why I was surprised to discover this was in a strip mall, but that's on me. A nice one, at least. The place was relatively busy but we were able to secure a table easily with zero wait time. Pleasant vibes inside. I don't mean this as an insult at all but I was expecting more ethnic decor in line with the restaurant's menu - instead, it's pretty Americanized and feels like a classic suburban NJ establishment. I liked the painted brick on the lefthand side that has Blue Spice's logo/sign on it; spiffy. The bathroom was also a high point, which is...not something I say often. It was very clean and smelled nice, and I liked the dark cruise-ship lighting vibe. We decided to split the scallion pancake app, which was an excellent decision. I work in the city and regularly have this item from a place in Chinatown, and I honestly thought this was better, mostly because it was thicker/denser than what I'm used to. Super tasty and would get that again in a heartbeat. Giant portion as well - we split the pancake, which was roughly the size of a small pizza. My chum had leftovers there, I did not; so it goes with us. I've had a few mediocre chicken katsu experiences of late, so this seemed like a chance for redemption. I ordered the Akiko Curry entree, which was their spin on chicken katsu curry. Honestly wasn't my favorite. Again, a HUGE portion here and was only able to finish about 60% of it despite having a pretty legit appetite coming in. And the presentation value is excellent as well, as far as that goes. This could easily just be a personal palate preference, but I wasn't crazy about the curry itself (which had a weird tang to it) and didn't resemble the standard curry I'm used to with this dish. Also, as you can see from the attached, the curry is basically on the side of the dish, separated from the chicken and rice. Because of that, the chicken is on the dry side, which is my primary beef (pun?) with the item to begin with. So a miss for me, but I could see why other people would like this (and apparently do). The service was excellent, full stop. Our waitress was very nice and personable; she had strong command of the menu and you could see her consistently engaging with other patrons throughout our meal as well. She took several group photos so this is apparently a Kingdom of Sussex hot spot for that, which I wouldn't have guessed. She was so good both of us remarked on it multiple times during the meal, which is a rarity. But a great example of hospitality markedly improving an experience and making what was already an overall positive situation that much better. Huge marks there. Would definitely come back but would explore other parts of the menu once I feasted on the scallion pancake.

It was fun watching it cook, then eating it. However, it made our table very cluttered. The waitress was very attentive and helpful. I liked that it was all you could eat. I had ordered steak and shrimp for my main coarse and grilled them. I found the shrimp difficult to peel after grilling it. They did not have cocktail sauce on their menu for my shrimp so it wasn't as good as I wanted. they did suggest another sauce that was spicy but it wasn't way to hot and spicy for my liking. All in all it was a good experience. I may try it again sometime. I had to ask for a fork, as they only served chopsticks. And I had to use scissors to cut my steak. No steak knives.

My…read moreopinions live and die by the staff, and it's with that in mind that I want to dedicate this review almost entirely to Kasey, who was our incredible server. From the moment we stepped inside Kpot, Kasey went above and beyond with service; she was so very kind and accommodating. Without prompting, she immediately created a space for me to keep my wheelchair safe and accessible without it being in the way at our table, which is always something I have to worry about myself when I go anywhere. I have dietary restrictions and she was very enthusiastic and willing to swap out the BBQ trays multiple times as needed. I never once felt like it was a bother. It was my loved one's birthday, and when we told Kasey, she completely understood the assignment. She made sure that we were having a wonderful time, was ninja-like in making sure our unused dishes were out of the way, she made wonderful, positive conversation that helped make our entire table feel welcomed + relaxed like we were old friends, and she had the most excellent timing with bringing out a surprise birthday treat at the end of our visit! I have never felt like a staff member at any place of business, no matter how wonderful they were otherwise, was as sincerely invested in making our experience unforgettable as Kasey was. at Kpot. Kpot is incredibly fortunate to have found such a warm, bright human being to work there. We went on a Saturday, and when any of us ever return in the future, we will absolutely be sure to come on Saturday again in hopes of having Kasey as our host again! The food itself was very good, and the value cannot be understated. It's a great bang-for-your-buck! Once you pay for the hotpot/bbq, you also have access to a variety of food by the sauce bar. (I specifically got some chicken wings and French fries and dipped them in the delicious chili sauce!) Every one at my table had very positive reviews of their food (which were, of course, only bolstered by their raving about Kasey! Seriously, I cannot overstate how this review is glowing because of her, haha! We all agreed that we will be coming back again, in a large part due to the service; KPot has found itself four loyal customers because of her. ) The food being brought to the table was also very timely. There were no delays and everything came right out, fresh from the kitchen. Absolutely nothing tasted bad or off. The atmosphere inside of the restaurant is pretty conducive to feeling social and open, yet perfectly private for your party. It feels like a really good spot to catch up with friends you haven't seen in a while, or to celebrate special occasions with a small group. I do also wanna mention how convenient it was to get food. They give you an iPad with names and pictures of all the food items. It is extremely easy and intuitive to use, and it's probably the best means of ordering food I've had at a buffet-style place. Very hygienic and timely! I truly cannot overstate how the excellent service made our experience as amazing as it was. The food is great and Kpot itself is, of course, quite nice, but the service elevated it into the position of being my FIRST choice when it comes to dining out with multiple people again. I wholeheartedly recommend dining here, if not for the insane value you get in terms of food, then absolutely for the excellent service -- be sure to come on a Saturday so that you're more likely to have such a wonderful, warm and professional person providing your service! Endless thanks, again, to Kasey. You made this experience what it was, and as someone who does not get to see my loved ones for occasions like this often, it means the world to me that we had such incredible service from someone that made everything feel special. I am so glad that we chose here as our birthday dinner spot.

The selection was impressive, with thinly sliced beef, pork, seafood, vegetables, noodles, and a variety of sides to customize each bite. The meats were fresh and tender, cooking quickly on the grill. The hot pot broth was rich and comforting, especially when loaded with vegetables, noodles, and your favorite proteins that you can choose from! One of the highlights was being able to switch between grilling and hot pot throughout the meal. The endless options kept things exciting, and every combination tasted different. The seafood was fresh, the vegetables crisp, and the noodles soaked up all the delicious broth flavors. (You add $5 if you want both) For drinks, I got Piña Colada and tried their bubble tea as well, Matt got Coconut mojito. (The server heard Coke and Mojito she immediately change it and apologized) The thing I don't like and could possibly improve is their appetizer, sauce and salad area. Sauce were good but apps only has few selection, like chicken nuggets, fries, etc. and looks like it has been sitting there. Nuggets were rubbery. Ambiance was okay, not that much people when we came in around 5. Place seems nice as well. But other than that it was a delicious feast from start to finish, with plenty of variety and something for everyone. Come hungry because you'll definitely leave full and happy! :)
