My fave go to pizza spot in Toronto. All the pizza is excellent. I think I tried each one You can eat the crush by itself without any sauce, that's how you know it's good :)

After not eating all day, this place was heaven. The boys were so fun and welcoming. We came on Pi day so obviously we had to get a pizza pie the food was so good, I wish I got a 12 inch instead of an 8 inch and it was just so good. Their garlic infused olive oil is a must if you're not a fan of crust. The ambiance is very open and they have jazz music playing which I enjoyed on a rainy evening.

Pizza and beers. 8" personal on available in margherita. Got a couple IPA's too. One was Truth Serum : )

Since I planned to have a solo meal, I only needed a slice. But after 4pm, slices are not available and a personal size pizza could alternatively be made to order, but not just any variety, it had to be a Margherita. Maybe it's like mixing paint, you need to have a certain size product planned to make that particular variety. The before-4pm deals are best with a 12" pepperoni for $12 being a fantastic deal, or grab a slice. I haven't tried these but got a personal reco. My personal pie was very tasty! The crust was doughy yet crisp on the outside and nice and warm when I brought it home, and the sauce was tangy and bursting with flavour. Instead of being a thin-crust, it was more of a medium-crust pizza with the crust being a substantial part of each bite. Very tasty, but I prefer more variety in my pizza rather than mainly sauce and crust but I understand if this type of minimal pie is what turns you on. I'll be back to try some other varieties as I love the quality of the cooking. They also hawk some tasty IPAs which go well with the 'za including "Truth Serum" which paired well and hit my taste buds in the right way.

4.5 or better Top 5 pie in Toronto...They dont offer additional toppings for their pies (which is fine). But they offer free use of their olive oil and chili oil bottles (great added value; rare these days). Largest size is 16" and range from ~$22-$28/$29. They introduced 16" pies a few years ago. Located in Cabbagetown, and has the same independent, Canadian-quality spirit of the neigbourhood. Some interesting pies offered include: LIL' CABBAGETOWN Brussels sprouts, blue cheese, fior di latte, caramelized onions, bacon, maple syrup VEGAN DELUX tomato sauce, vegan mozzarella, vegan Italian sausage, green peppers, mushrooms, onions Ordered 16" Marg' with extra cheese. Asked for it "almost well-done." Dough was thin and very light, yet with impressive abundance of air pockets, not overly "white" in taste. Beautifully cooked dough with light crisp on outside and softness inside. Tomato sauce was more on the "sweeter" side compared to "tangy" side, however. Cheese (fior de latte) was solid (not too much to block heat, & not at all sparse). I applied their chili oil generously along the edge (hence the orange colours in the pictures). Because there was no cheese-oriented pie, I asked for extra cheese (fior di latte; they also have mozz) on their Margherita and it cost $5.00 extra (North Of Brooklyn offers extra mozz for $2.50, Libretto $4 for extra fior di latte on their 16"). Could be wrong, but maybe the fior was not as dense as using mozz, so the heat penetrated the top of the dough better than most pies with extra cheese (which usually use mozz). Definitely one of the best Margherita 16"+ pies in Toronto (and superior to North Of Brooklyn's version). The Marge' here is 16" for $22.00; NOB's is 18" for $25.00 and omits fior latte for grana and mozz (less authentic, yet still good). Overall, fantastic pie (with great dough); Top 5 in Toronto, with ease. North of Brooklyn edges it out on value (they offer 18" pies for ~$25, and charge half the price for extra toppings). Arguably, the best pie east of Yonge St. (along with North Of Brooklyn on Church St.). 'Conzo's' on the east side, 'Salt And Tobacco' on the west side, and 'North Of Brooklyn' on both sides, and Libretto's Neo-NY Pizza, I'd say, are top 4 for "New World" pies downtown at this time.

This is a wonderful stop to hike your shopping. The music the staff and lay out certainly give this place an authentic atmosphere. The street is set up beautifully with nature in the big city. The food is very reasonably priced.

Classic thin crust style pizza that arguably rivals those of NYC. I got a classic cheese slice and fell in love with this place. Highly recommend for anyone looking for some pizza

The setting: I was doing an historical house tour in Cabbagetown "A Taste of the Arts". Each house we visited had a wine bar and the host provided some food to nibble on. The second house we visited was Avril Lavigne's former residence. The new owners had kept her black kitchen tiles, some of which had skulls on them. Ok, this has nothing at all to do with pizza but I found it amusing (and the tiles were actually kind of cool). The food provided was pizza ordered from Salt and Tobacco. My first thought upon seeing the open boxes: "ugh, delivery pizza". My next thought upon tasting it was "wow, delivery pizza!" If the pizza tastes this good after sitting in a cardboard box for twenty minutes I imagine it tastes amazing at the restaurant itself.

What a sweet establishment. Very family oriented. The pizza was cooked to perfection! Very thin crust, and not one edge was burnt!!! There were ample toppings and it wasn't at all soggy!! The menu had a large selection of pizzas. The rest of the menu was limited to, meat balls and 2 types of salads We ordered both salads, the kale Caesar was so good! Loved the salty anchovies plus there was ample amount of Parmesan cheese on both the kale Caesar and the arugula salad. The first arugula salad that came to our table... wasn't the freshest, but we mentioned it to the manager and he quickly took it away and replaced it. The service was good! I personally prefer to have table service, but it wasn't too bad having to order and pay at the counter. One big plus was they had self serve flat and carbonated water.

This place gets a solid 4.5/5 for its authentic southern Italian food and very friendly & attentive…read moreservice. It has a very homey, old-school Italian American restaurant ambience - the opposite of the stylish, hipster or touristy restaurant vibe. Apparently this restaurants gets a lot of regulars, and I could see why. As soon as you walk in, you feel like you're transported back to the 1960s with the red-and-white checkered tablecloths, red chairs, old-style wax candles, brick walls, and a large black-and-white photo of an Italian family on the wall (perhaps the founder or owner's?). I could see this place being a movie set for films that need an old, classic Italian American restaurant as a setting. In addition to the décor, I love the 1960s music being played in the background. Size-wise, the inside of the restaurant isn't that big so it feels very cozy. It can get very busy and crowded after 5 pm, as most people seem to come here for dinner. We came during lunch hour and we were the only patrons there. The southern Italian touches are very apparent in most of their dishes - with heavy reliance on olive oil, tomato-based sauces (especially in the fish and seafood dishes), fresh seafood, herbs, peppers, and vegetables such as eggplant. This is in contrast to northern Italian cuisine that is characterized by rich, creamy dishes using butter, lard, and cheeses, and puts more emphasis on rice, polenta, and meat-heavy dishes (where as seafood is more prevalent in the south). Dishes that we tried: 1) Baccala (Pan-Seared Black Cod) - This was the BEST and my favourite dish here. The black cod had a crispy exterior and flaky interior, and came with roasted mini potatoes and mixed vegetables (zucchini, red bell pepper, Brussels sprouts, eggplant) roasted with garlic -- such a well-rounded and wholesome dish. The roasted mini potatoes were so flavourful, and the vegetables had a nice char. I asked for the puttanesca sauce on the side, as the fish was already flavourful on its own without the sauce. But the sauce was better than I expected - it contained actual whole chunks of cherry tomatoes and olives. 2) Steamed Mixed Fish & Seafood in Tomato Sauce - This dish wasn't on the website menu, but it was on the printed menu in the restaurant. It reminded me of cioppino (Italian-American mixed seafood stew with tomato sauce, herbs, and spices). It came presented as wrapped inside aluminum tin foil, which the server then opened in front of us on the table with steam coming out. The fish was salmon, and seafood consisted of mussels and shrimps. This dish was just alright. For almost $50, there wasn't much seafood. 3) Pizza Funghi - I liked the very thin and crispy crust, and the sliced roasted mushrooms as toppings, but I wasn't a fan of the "truffled honey" they added on top of the pizza. I didn't taste any truffle, and the honey made it very sweet. Not a fan of sweet pizza. 4) SIDES: Rapini, Brussels Sprouts, Mushrooms - They got bonus points for being able to customize the sides. They didn't have asparagus that day, so they substituted it for steamed Brussels sprouts with garlic instead - which was heavenly. The Brussels sprouts weren't overcooked at all, and they were generous with the garlic (anything with extra garlic gets extra thumbs up from me). The rapini came out chopped with a side of lemon wedge. Mushrooms weren't on the menu as a side, but we asked and they were able to make a simple side of just mushrooms. Overall the vegetables got 9/10. The chef was very friendly as he came out and talked to us. The server was extremely attentive. Great service overall.

We had 3 good pizzas and salads. We always have good food and service. It is very comfortable.read more
