We on vacay we scrambled to find a nice and affordable way to travel from South shore of N.S to the Digby Ferry. I had timing off and Simon was on top of it and very kind with his delivery. We added extra time to our travel which we desperately needed as we came in on the wire to make the ferry. Car was clean, well maintained and Simon with out the use of a map on Google. New exactly where he needed to go. We engaged with Salt and Wind as we started planning our extended vacation in France. Since this was not our first trip to France, we wanted to explore less travelled areas and prioritize experiences and sustainability. We just returned from the Salt and Wind Milan/Lombardy/Franciacorta trip and had such a great time! We've traveled to Italy a ton (have even to the very places on this trip) so we weren't sure how different this would be from our previous trips. Turns out it was a total surprise because the trip showed us parts of Milan that we didn't even really pay attention to before. We'd been so set on the Duomo and Parco Sempione on previous trips that we never really explored beyond that. But the truth is Milan is kinda like New York -- tons of different neighborhoods, all walkable, and all with distinct character. Yes, the city is a big city but after spending a few days there on this trip we realized it all felt as unique, as beautiful, and as doable as a smaller Italian city like Florence. So many parts of the itinerary were unique and really gave us an insider view into the city. We didn't realize how much the city had changed since our last trip there and getting a chance to see so many different neighborhoods made us feel like we now know the real Milan. Our favorite part was that the trip just felt so turnkey. We just showed up and were able to just enjoy instead of thinking about every detail. Normally, we're the friends in our group who do all the planning from the reservations to driving directions so it was refreshing to take a break from that. The way Jackie and Aida arranged everything felt really well paced. We had a good amount of free time, no morning started too early, and every day felt packed without being overwhelming. Traveling to these places with Salt & Wind made us feel like we got a crash course. We now feel like we could go back to the area and would know where to go, what to do, and what to explore. We're total research nerds so we read a ton of reviews and guidebooks before we travel but tbh none of them really talked about many of the places and things we saw on the trip. Plus the Salt & Wind team introduced us to many locals so we got a peek into their everyday lives and some of their insider knowledge. One of the highlights was the mix of places we ate. One day would be a casual trattoria, the next a chic cafe, and then even a street food tour so we never felt like we were having the same meal twice. Truth is there is a lot of food on this trip but we walked anywhere from 2 to 6 miles a day so I never felt like I was in a food coma. Oh and the cooking class in wine country was a real highlight. The food we made was delicious and we plan on making those recipes again in the future. Also, the chefs we cooked with were so much fun that it made it a total enjoyable experience. The photographer was an unexpected plus because she was able to capture the experience in a way we never could have with our iPhones. Not to mention that she got all sorts of candid photos that really captured the essence of the trip. If you go on this trip, make sure you arrive before the trip starts. We showed up a few days early to adjust to the time zone and are so glad we did. Some other guests showed up the first day of the trip and were fighting jet lag for a few days which seemed like it made it hard for them to really enjoy it all. Before we left we were kinda anxious about whether we'd like traveling in a small group and if we'd like the other attendees. It turns out the other travelers were very like-minded -- all food lovers, all experienced travelers, exploratory, and everyone went with the flow. Even though we were anxious about traveling win a small group, we realized that the other S&W travelers were cut from the same cloth as us. All in all it was a really awesome experience! read more

Wish I could give 6 stars! In May I went with Salt & Wind to Baja, and it was nothing short of spectacular! As a Californian, I've been to Mexico countless times but never stopped in Tijuana or wine country and probably never would have had I not joined Salt & Wind.
