We have ordered from Salt Creek before and it's all been great. We love the goat cheese marinara, the grilled artichoke and the homemade chips that go with it, the pasta pomodoro and the lobster bisque can not be beat. But today, I ordered the beef stroganoff based on all the reviews. I will say, the steak, mushrooms and noodles were perfectly cooked. The sauce had me questioning myself all day, but I figured it out. Aside from lazily chopping the red onions, they were all different sizes and thickness. Not okay for a more upscale restaurant. Also, while I appreciated the perfect cook of the beef, the noodles and the mushrooms, the sauce was off. Definitely not a stroganoff. You don't need cream or cheese for a stroganoff and Salt Creek does not add either. It took me a couple hours, but realized they use soy sauce and vinegar. Their sauce is nearly identical to my favorite hot and sour soup. I will never order it again. Again, everything was cooked perfectly, but they charge you $45 for un-authentic meal. With really weird chopped red onion. For $45, I expect more than my local hot and sour soup. read more

I've been here a handful of times now. I always love the atmosphere and the service. And the live music is a bonus! The cocktails have always been tasty and the bartenders have always been open to unique asks. But the food has always been lacking. I've tried multiple things on the menu and nothing ever makes sense. Today I got the jicama blackened salmon tacos. I've had these tacos at other restaurants, but this was literally just salmon and jicama with a pineapple salsa. When they first arrived, I thought there were perhaps tortilla strips in it, which kind of sounded fun. But it was just more strips of jicama, even though the tortilla was already jicama. There was literally no creativity in this taco, only sweet salsa on fatty salmon with no freshness anywhere. And it was only a touch of "blackened". I ended up asking for a spicy salsa. It needed more citrus. It needed some carrot or cabbage or herbs to break up the fat and sweet. If this was served on a food show, it would be chopped. read more

The the baby back ribs are very good. On the menu it says fall off the bone and it was indeed tender as advertised. Not only that it was prepared perfectly and was piping hot so hot that I burned my mouth, but it's fine because that is the way food should be served hot and fresh. Wow. I can't believe I haven't written a review for Salt Creek yet. My family has been coming here for 20+ years. My Dad loved this place. We used to come as a family and sit in the bar. He had a favorite waitress there and we would always sit in her section. We have had many events here over the years, renting out their private room. We even had his celebration of life here on the patio a few years ago. This place has been a staple in Valencia forever. I will say the last visit was not quite up to its standards but I'm sure it was not a trend. The baby back ribs were a bit disappointing, dry and less flavorful than usual. But typically they are tender, fall off the bone. I also noted the service isn't as great as it used to be. One time years ago, there was a pretentious bartender who felt he needed to educate me on my favorite drink. By the way, he didn't, especially since he was wrong. But overall, we've been happy with our visits and many family memories we have made here. The food is usually fantastic, but I must say I typically stick with the baby back ribs because they are delicious. Drinks are usually good too. I do believe they still have live music in the bar some weekend nights as well. And it's in a great centralized location by the mall. It's a must try. read more

Where do I start, after we were seated, I had to get one of the waitresses' attention to inquire about an item on the menu, what we used to get as complimentary (sourdough and butter, they now charge you) but I am Ok with that. After 11 minutes of waiting (we timed it) another waitress took our order. For dietary reasons I ordered my salmon dry and no butter and vegetables again no butter. When our food was delivered, I got exactly what I said I could not have...butter on everything. I explained to the server who brought the food to our table this was not what I ordered, he said he would bring a new plate of food. 15 minutes later, nothing and my husband was 1/2 through with his meal so I said to the waitess to cancel my order. I had a gift card with unknown funds on it and for lunch had time to use it. I enjoyed the food ordered. The service was spectacular. A gorgeous woman named Heidi was our waitress who was pleasantly kind and was a great server overall. She was easy to talk to unlike other restaurants I have been to with poor service. The interior was clean, dark and gloomy. It had a nice vibe going on with it and salt Greek grille has been here for many years for that reason. After 30+ years ever since I was born and walked to the regal movie theaters nearby, I haven't tried this place until today. What a shocker! Comparing BJs and salt creek grille since they are next to each other and serve similar food, salt creek grille is by far better between the two. Better service quality and food. The only con is the price. The food here, at its cheapest plate is $20. Most of the appetizers are also $20 each but the quality of the food and the value you get are exceptionally well done. I want to come here again if I could in the future. I couldn't believe how good this place is. Way better than Cheesecake Factory as well. Price for my French dip sandwich and fruit was about $22. Not great, but it was tasty. The other plate was a turkey sandwich. Generic, but nonetheless tasty and cooked properly. The sweet potato fries I could live without. The French dip was a 5/5. I enjoyed the flavor and texture more than others I have tried in the past. The turkey club or whatever it was, also a 5/5. The fries were soggy though and I didn't like them. My fruit was a solid 5/5 organic and fresh cut fruit in a bowl, couldn't say I didn't like it. Overall, I recommend the place for dating, birthdays or special events although expect the higher price for food and tips etc. not sure if I tipped enough, but I hope it was enough. We were celebrating our anniversary last Friday. Since it's been many years since our last visit we thought we'd splurge and have our favorite pork chop at Salt Creek. We ordered cocktails and calamari as an appetizer. What an expensive $24 mistake! The calamari was swimming in oil from the fryer, and only consisted of breaded rings that were so oily and overcooked it was like chewing breaded rubber bands. I told the server, whose only response was "I'm sorry" and left the item on the bill. My pork chop was also overcooked to the point I was thankful I had a glass of water to choke it down. Had early dinner at one of my favorite restaurants. Im on a health kick so I had Salmon and steamed broccoli. Which was good. However lemon rice had parts that were hard. Never asked to have rice changed up before. Which they did. It came just in time for a late dessert. I've eaten at a thousand restuarant and how you mitigate a problem is as important as actually agreeing to take care of the problem. She went over and above. There's not too many places that I can commend the "over and above" statement. It was well deserved. We came to Salt Creek in Santa Clarita to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. We had a party of 13 and called ahead to make reservations. When we arrived, they seated us in a very dark corner, and the table setup made it difficult for anyone to get in and out. Even our waitress struggled to squeeze between our table and the booths behind us. The seating arrangement definitely felt off for a large party. As for the menu, I personally found it very basic. Nothing really stood out or made me think, "I have to try that." Most of us ended up ordering the pasta with the steak. We also ordered two appetizers the bruschetta and the charcuterie board. The food itself was okay. Not bad, but nothing memorable. For a birthday celebration or special occasion, I honestly wouldn't recommend this place. If you're catching a movie nearby and want a quick bite, then sure it works for that. But for a special occasion, I didn't feel the ambience or quality matched what we were hoping for. The lighting is very dim, the overall vibe is dark, and it just didn't feel festive or elevated. Our bill came out to around $800 for the 13 of us. I don't mind paying higher prices for great food and a great experience, but in this case, I didn't feel the value matched the cost. For the price point, I expected something a bit more special. It's rare for me to leave a two star review, but Salt Creek Grille sadly earned it. I imagine that their owner believes that they strive for excellence, but what Dear Hubby, Sweet Granddaughter, and I experienced was an extremely mediocre meal for a big ticket price. The Only bright spot was our server, who was attentive, friendly, and professional. Wish we could say that the quality of the food coming out of the kitchen matched his efforts. We chose to sit outside on a lovely 75 degree wind-free Sunday afternoon (in January!). The hostess told us that we could seat ourselves, but didn't follow up by bringing us menus. The fire pit was lit, which was a visual enticement. The benches around it would be great for having a drink, but there wasn't any place for food plates, so we sat at a high top wooden table. Those tables have been left to age in the elements. Might be made of ipe or teak wood, and desperately in need of a sanding and oiling to refinished the badly chippy surface. No placemats meant no clean place for silverware once out of the fabric napkins. The little annoyances and lack of care started to show up and pile up. For the prices charged I'd expect a much nicer ambiance, including some table decor, like maybe small succulents or the like. Nada. Speaking of prices, aka for food -- the calamari appetizer was very hit or miss with largely very rubbery-textured rings which were hard to chew/swallow. The light breading also had virtually no flavor. The remoulade sauce on the side was too spicy for me, but the tangy red sauce was just right. DH and I also shared the house salad, probably the best of our order choices. Thumbs up for plentiful candied walnuts. I should have asked for the gorgonzola on the side, as I avoid dairy. They were very generous with it, which I normally would have appreciated, but struggled to eat around. That one's on me. The grilled artichoke app was good, if not remarkable, and quite undersized for the price. There wasn't much tasty flesh on each leaf to enjoy. The dipping sauce looked like it had been sitting for a while. We ended up sending the calamari back, and trying the bacon wrapped shrimp instead. Meh. Overcooked and pricey at almost $5 per shrimp. SG was starving, but not that happy with her mac & cheese. It was a large portion, but not that appetizing. It turned out to be mac and glue-y sauce. It looked like the consistency of canned nacho cheese that they ladle over tortilla chips at the fair. Ugh. The kids' meals don't include a drink, but do offer a dish of chocolate or vanilla ice cream at the end. By the time we paid for tip and the uninteresting food (just one lemonade / no refills) with waters, it was over $80. Ridiculous! read more

Yesterday my husband and I had a late lunch at the Salt Creek Grille. It was a wonderful experience for us. We are seniors and live out of town. We are thinking of moving to Santa Clarita and decided to experience some dining out places. We sat in a booth in the dining room. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the dining room to open. The food was very delicious, flavorful, and well-prepared. My husband ordered the Cajun chicken and I ordered the Portobello chicken. We ordered the homemade sourdough bread, which was amazing! I've lived locally since Salt Creek opened and had only tried Mother's Day brunch about five years ago, which was fantastic. My recent visit was a huge disappointment. The spinach artichoke dip was bland and runny, the meat in the stroganoff was way over cooked, and o never received the avocado that was supposed to be in my salad. The server was very kind but the service was very slow-spinach dip took 15 minutes to receive. I enjoyed the ambiance and the restaurant was clean. The overall vibe is your classic steakhouse, lots of dark wood , kind of with a western kick. There is lots of seating and it's mostly booth seating but you will be comfortable. The service was fantastic Ken was great and I let him know it was my mother's birthday and he made sure to make it special. He answered every quesee had and my mom is picky with her margaritas so don't take it personally that she was not vibing with the ones you made . I drank some of them and I liked them. The food was pretty good for the most part, for a classic steakhouse I think you have the basics down. The steaks were pretty much on point I would have liked mine a bit more on the rare side for the med rare but I loved that when I cut into the steak there was an even cook on both sides with the pink in the middle. My mother's steak was just how she wanted it and that's all that mattered to me to be honest. I do think you need to elevate the sides a bit , there are some veggies out there that can really change up your dishes, charred Brussels, broccolini, roasted carrots and beets, I do like your sides but I think to stay current I would look over the menu and see how you can modernize some of your dishes. Your wild Mushrooms were actually pretty good, im usually not fond of the sauce that some steakhouses put in it but paired with the steak it was great but only because the steak was slightly under seasoned so the savory from the mushrooms was a good complement. My mother's potatoes were pretty greasy... and it is because of the cheese and if you add oil in the cast iron. I would suggest getting a good crisp to the potatoes first in the cast iron with some Olive oil then when they are hot and have a crisp on them then top it with the cheese and your golden. I did enjoy the shrimp stuffed mushrooms but the shrimp was dry ... it seems like ya bake them together... I honestly would cook the shrimp On the side with some butter and garlic get those stuffed mushrooms where you need them and then top them and use the butter garlic sauce from the shrimp on top. The butter cake had some good flavor to it as well but it was just really grainy and felt more like a corn bread than cake. But the fruit and ice cream was perfect. Overall salt Creeke does its job for classic steakhouse, I would say maybe someday in the future I would look towards revising the menu modernize it a little bit. When it comes to the food I do give it 3 stars but service is a whole thing of its own so Ken did amazing. I appreciate yall and thank you for making this a good birthday for my mother. read more

Wow this place has really changed!! I was here a few months ago and had the best meal and service ever; great cocktails, amazing juicy pork chop cooked to perfection, awesome service by helpful waitress; We couldn't wait to go back ....but this time it was a terrible experience. Maybe they changed bartender and chef (?) Because it was so amazing the first time, I ordered the exact same meal; This time the cocktail was way too sour, also requested it spicy, request ignored. (I drank about 1/4 and switched to wine--ugh). Pork chop was dry and overcooked, sent it back got another one dry and over cooked as well, by this time I was just starving, so focused on the chutney sauce and ate it. What a shame to cook such a nice chop to wood. Then there was the service, the waiter was rude and unfriendly, like he couldn't be bothered; it was actually uncomfortable. We didn't see him much and practically had to send up a flair for him to wait on the table. There were empty dishes that were pushed aside and clearly finished, he came to the table; no clearance of used dishes they just sat there for 20 minutes more until I called him over again; worst imaginable service from that waiter. He wasn't busy, lots of open tables, so that wasn't it. Anyway, I doubt we will ever go back. Bad food, bad drinks, bad service; hard to dig out of that hole. read more

Salt Creek Grille is a classic steakhouse in the heart of Valencia with a comfortable atmosphere. I have eaten here for brunch, dinner, and takeout. To be concise, I would say that the brunch is worthwhile, while I think the traditional sit-down dinner and takeout can be skipped. Salt Creek Grille's brunch is a choice of menu-order items or an all-you-can-eat buffet. We opted for the buffet and were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. Especially considering that it was late in the morning, we found the food still tasted fresh and good quality. There was a good variety of buffet items including: pizza, salmon, bbq chicken and ribs, crepes, eggs benedict, seafood soup, baked goods, fruit platters, and more. Since we enjoyed the brunch so much, we came back a few weeks later for a dinner date. Having arrived after 8pm, seating in the main dining room had ended, so we were directed to sit in the bar area. That would have been fine, except that the service in the bar was lackluster. It took a long time to be given menus. Plus, when we were giving our order, the server took my partner's order and abruptly walked away without addressing me. Went there with my husband to celebrate our anniversary, we arrived 15 minutes early and was told we had to wait closer to our reservation time to check in so we went to the bar. The bartender was great. 5:00 came so we went and sat down in the front of the restaurant waiting to be called. We sat there for 10 minutes before being acknowledge . The greater at the front looked at us quite a few times a gave us a fake smile. Her coworker came to the front and seen us sitting there and she asked the young lady why we were there and she shrugged her shoulders, so then we were asked if we have been helped. I told her we had a reservation so then we were sitted at a really small table. The waiter messed up my husband's salad order, he does not like vinaigrette asked for thousand island and still got vinaigrette. I don't like my steak raw and asked for medium well and still got a rare steak. With that being said I could not eat my steak. We paid a lot of money for a nice dinner that we did not get. Salt Creek is one of the best restaurants in town. This review is strictly for the Thanksgiving buffet. Arrived 1:30pm and seated within 5 minutes. Expected 45-minute wait. Service was good. Restaurant was typically cozy. Football on TV. Good crowd. With drink and gratuity $95 out the door. Just flat out wasn't worth it. All the food was barely lukewarm. Dark turkey meat was processed and overly salty; almost like turkey ham. No gravy for the spuds. Comfort food demands gravy. Dressing was completely damp and prepared under cover with no crusting. The bread choices were all cold. Comfort food (IMHO) demands warm dinner rolls. Green beans were very average. A green bean casserole with some crispy fried onions would've added a little crunch to the meal. I just couldn't find a bite of something that tasted like more. It's hard to find a good, traditional Thanksgiving restaurant meal. But I'll keep trying. read more

He had made the reservation about a week or two prior to the date for 8:45pm and then we receive a call the day of at around 8:20 informing us that the dining room will be closed. My bf said we'll be right there and we got there informed a staff member that we had reservations I'm confused as to why they're accepting reservations for 8:45 if they will be closed. Amazing spot to host a party! We had a group of 25 girls for a bridal shower in the private room. We were there on a Sunday and did the buffet lunch, which had an amazing selection. They had a build-your-own pasta station and an egg station. Great selection for all different tastes. The waiter, Phil, was super attentive and sweet to all of us. We constantly felt taken care of. I love the simplicity, reminded me of the atmosphere and decor of suburban restaurants where I grew up. Making food look good for Instagram is getting tiring. This place focuses their energy on service and taste. The rack of ribs comes with a side of fries which were also delicious. I made it through about a third and brought the rest home on a short plane trip through security- yes, they were that good.
