My friend brought me to Salt Power Yoga just over a month ago. My first class was "happy hour yoga" - 60 min yoga with Wendy, followed by happy hour snacks and drinks. I felt this sense of belonging. I didn't know anyone but I felt right at home. The instructors genuinely want and try to get to know each of us and make us feel appreciated as a member of the Salt Power community. Each instructor has similar style and poses/flow moves, but adds their own unique flare. Some classes are instructed with music, but most are silent and all you can hear is your breathing. My single, most favorite thing about Salt Power is the inclusion and the warmth (figuratively, not literally though it is ~90F). No matter each individual's place in their practice, the instructors always make sure to express to everyone that whatever they are doing is accepted and amazing. Personally, I respond well to positive affirmation so I really appreciate this. If I don't have a pose, but it is recognized that I am working on it, it encourages me to try harder. It's not everybody's style, but it sure is mine! If you haven't checked out Salt Power and are unsure about committing to a place to practice, you can check out their Happy Hour class because it is donation based and you really get a sense of the community. Every class I go to, I make at least one new friend, but usually more. In addition, they have an awesome promotion where the first 30 days are only $30. That's the equivalent of 2 drop-ins. Cute modern new yoga studio in my neighborhood in the new Elan apartments. It is heated yoga. There is one large studio with wrap around windows with views on Washington, Westcott, and WOW - Washington Roundabout. Everything is provided at this studio with no extra charge. Mats and towels - Manduka brand and the towel is a rug that is grippy. Blocks and straps. Hand towels with eucalyptus for the eyes during shavasana. There are 2 showers and toiletries provided for the quick shower. Water and tea is available and there is a nice couch for chilling waiting for class to start. Parking is in the garage. read more

I cannot express enough how welcoming, friendly, and clean this yoga studio is! Everyone here treats you like family. Their motto is "you are enough" which is such a beautiful sentiment that everyone should hear during a yoga class. I did their $30 for 30 days new client special which is a great deal, and cheaper than I've seen at other Houston hot yoga studios. The space is modern, they are in the midst of their construction right now (they are expanding! YAY!) but you wouldn't know it by how spotless they keep the studio. The class schedule is not overwhelming, they have on average 3-4 classes a day, not bad. I highly recommend any class with Wendy Foster Elliot, she is the owner, and is so down to earth, but it is her energy that transforms each class to an invigorating level of energy. The classes are heated but not super hot (I wish they were a bit hotter, but I love to REALLY sweat) the room is at about 90 for a flow class. Dan Houston's fascia flow on Tue/Thur early mornings (6a) is a great way to start your day, it is a great stretch, and only 45 minutes - totally doable! Friday Happy Hour classes with GK are filled with great music and are a great way to get a good sweat going. A huge bonus of this studio is they have EVERYTHING you could need INSIDE the room you will be doing yoga in FREE of charge. They have mats, towels, sticky grip mat towels, blocks, straps, cups for water, even cases for glasses (my personal favorite)! This is a total game changer because all you have to do is show up to the studio and everything is already there waiting for you. More studios should offer these things for free. You cannot go wrong with coming here, they give foot massages during savasana and an essential oil scented (dry) eye towel - you will feel like you're at the spa. I cannot recommend this place enough and I am so excited they are continuing to grow! read more

I love the space it is nice , clean and organized. I had a bad experiences with the instructor today . I don't mind adjusting and instruct me with my poses . I've been practicing yoga and I know I have so much to learn . He made me feel embarrassed in the class by telling me I am distracting his class. Because I'm sharing water with my daughter. He didn't respect my space and I lost my connection with me practice today . read more

I was from out of town and I search of a studio to practice at when I found this gem. I chose to pay for a drop in (which is VERY reasonable prices compared to other studios $15) for Marks class -a heated flow. Upon arrival the staff was very welcoming and so friendly. They showed me where to find everything I needed including the mats,towels,and so on. Wendy was one of the friendly faces whom took it upon herself to set up a spot with a mat , a mat towel, and props while I changed. The space itself is very clean and has tons of natural light. They have high quality products supplied for use in the studio I.e non slip Maduka mats vs. beginners mats. Marks flow was a great combination of holding poses and transitioning for strength plus balance. The room was warm (as described) but had a fan on so the air wasn't stagnant. As a person who practices regularly,I would definitely recommend this place for practitioners of ALL levels to learn or just flow. read more

i joined 45min flow class. the class had good pace , a lot repetition of flows so that it is a good exercise / high energy class. comfortably heated room was perfect temperature to do flow. The facility is very clean, neat, pretty :) smelled so good :) Staffs are so kind also. i am looking forward to participating again!! read more

Howdy neighbors! Looking for a good yoga spot? I'm recommending you try hot yoga at Salt Power Yoga. It's been a few years since I've done yoga and I feel the muscles and bones getting crickety with age so I decided I need more yoga in my life. I bought a five pack package to force myself to give it five weeks before deciding. Well, I've decided! It's my new Saturday workout! I'll run (aka mostly walk) the half mile there, get sweaty and stretch, then walk home. I'll do my weight training during the week and yoga on Saturdays. Why this place? It's a family business. Wendy and Phil, and their adorable daughter run the place. Reminds me of when I had a small business and my kids helped out on the weekends. If you need some variation in your workout routine, you should try Salt Power Yoga. Just don't fill up the class on Saturday morning so there's no space for me! read more
