SRP has been the BEST utility company that I have ever had to deal with. The online tools that are offered are absolutely perfect! You can have notifications sent to your phone that alert you of what your monthly SRP bill is averaging, tools that show you and explain the different plans and a great customer support phone line. I called and changed my plan from Basic to Time of Use Plan, which is saving me about $80.00 per month (summertime usage). I was on the phone for maybe 4 minutes, and tool the phone survey. I received a follow up phone call within minutes making sure that everything I needed was handled appropriately! I cant say enough about SRP!! read more

I had an energy-sucking, dinosaur fridge that I replaced several months ago. They are presently fast tracking a new Price Plan with a small increase across the board--but forces solar power customers onto a Customer Generation Rate Plan that treats them like their Commercial customers and subjects them to an egregious, unpredictable, very high Demand Fee. We had an issue and got amazing service from these folks, start to finish. We had really odd electrical problems in our rental house (lights going dull and then bright every time any appliance kicked on, or just every so often). We mentioned it to our landlord, who said he'd look into it in a few months (and then didn't). We also mentioned it to his electrician during a different repair - the electrician told us it's an old house and we're stuck with odd electrical issues. Finally, we asked an electrical consultant who told us we weren't getting enough power. We called SRP, and they had someone out to the house within about an hour. He was incredibly polite and helpful, and informed us that our electricity had groundwire problems and was too dangerous to turn back on, but that it would be repaired immediately (within the next 4-6 hours) - and it was! They ran into issues with our neighbors (who have a water feature built over the area where they need to dig), but they put in a temporary wire so that we wouldn't be without power while the neighbor made alternate arrangements. Then they noticed that a transformer was weak and replaced that the same evening. Every single person I talked to was courteous, extremely helpful and empowered to do whatever was needed. I made a payment out to them a month ago by check and they never took the payment due to "insufficient funds" .... okay and for the last month I've received no letters no call or email to at least correct anything and my meter went out. So now because they took so long to pull that money out of my account they waited until I did have nsf and now I have to go in and pay cash every month. One of the reasons I chose to buy a home where I did is that it wasn't in APS territory. APS is reliable but expensive. I've been in my SRP-serviced home for 12 years and have been satisfied with it. Other than mysterious minutes-long service interruptions on weekend mornings in the summer, it's been reliable with few power outages that last more than a couple of hours. And it's far less expensive than APS. I also like that they put auto-messages on their phone lines if you call to report an outage so you know that they are aware of the situation. And since I use SurePay I get something like a 1% discount on my bill. Hey, everything helps! read more

I had a very disappointing experience on Wednesday. I usually don't pass stuff like this on, but I was actually amazed at how dispassionate a person from SRP could be. An SRP employee came to the house yesterday and told me he would have to turn off the power for a few minutes. I told him that it might trigger my fire alarms to beep. I also told him that I just recently had major surgery and could not re-set them and that he would have to do it if they went off. Sure enough, when he turned the power off they started to beep. He did come in the house and tried for a couple of minutes to re-set them. When he couldn't do it, he told me it wasn't his problem. I reminded him that he promised to help, because I can only walk a few feet and can't climb on a ladder. He said he had to get his computer out of the sun and would come right back in and help me solve the problem. But he walked out the door and drove off. He lied to me and left me in my disabled state with two chirping fire alarms and no way to shut them off. I called SRP, they said they would try and get someone out but it could be hours. Keep in mind I am still in a lot of pain, am taking a lot of pain meds and have to keep my feet up so I had to sit on a chair in my living room with the alarms going off. I have trouble concentrating because of the meds and it was driving me batty. Fortunately, I was able to get some guys from Rural Metro to come by and help me out. They were awesome, They came right over, re-set the alarms and for good measure replaced the batteries so I wouldn't have to deal with that either. They also made sure that they did everything they could to help me so I could stay off my feet. They told me up front they would not leave till everything was working correctly and stayed after everything was re-set for a while to make sure I was OK before they left. I got to see the best and worst of people over a 2 hour period. But I am still disheartened that any person would lie and leave someone in a situation like that. SRP needs to take a look at their field service folks. BTW, the drivers truck number was 3468, I saw it as he sped off. read more

Once upon a time, SRP stood ahead of the curve because I was constantly able to see how much I was spending to help me manage my budget, but seeing as that was removed because the battery on my old unit (AS WELL AS MY NEW ONE) is dying, seems very suspect. When we called SRP, our liar of a rep told us that some power outlets will just not charge the SRP box. WE'VE LIVED HERE FOR A YEAR AND A HALF BEFORE THIS BECAME A PROBLEM. I signed up to get emails and texts when the power is out at my house, but 90% of the text and emails are for power outages that do not effect me. I don't care about power outages nearby I only care if the power is out at MY house. When I spoke to someone at SRP about this their only solution was to unsubscribe me from the service. SRP used to be 5 star until late 2014 when they turned to the dark side. They changed rate plans to kill rooftop solar. Most customers, like myself, have no say in the matter. Their board is elected only by certain landholders. I can't even vote - very un-American. They aren't even regulated by the (black money corrupted) Corporation Commission. They even misled their own board of directors. Everyone was led to believe the hook-up charge for their all their plans would be phased-in. Nope. It shot up this month, April, only to go down for a few months over the summer, and then back up. SRP is great! Especially when you compare them to APS! We had a storm not too long ago and it took out a transformer down the street from our house. We lost power. SRP was right on it! They had trucks out ready for the storm. They replaced our transformer and we weren't without power for more than 45 minutes. Even though we pay you a lot of money each month in the summer...we're a 1 rating for energy savings (okay we have a big carbon footprint but so does Al Gore)...we still think you're great SRP! SRP customer for 26 years, I have made 312 payments based on their averaging plan (so you pay the same each month). I have always paid a few $ more than the minimum because it was easier to set up auto pay in my online banking. So, this last month, they changed the due date and the CSR was no help at all. In May of 2014 I did a less than appreciative review of SRP and the irrigation department. Since that review I have had my good and bad days - remember I have been irrigating agricultural property acre for over 30 years here - but I needed to update my post. The people who take the calls are consistently very good. The women are much better than the men but they are all doing a good job. So why the new post? A few months ago I blew a gasket, I lost my I entire calm demeanor, I acted like somebody possessed - and then I had to apologize. That sucked! I was not wrong in why I was mad, and I was getting ignored for lets say two years but my outrage and how I expressed it were wrong! And then a strange thing happened! I got a direct number to a real supervisor. People called to tell me they wanted to help. Oher people called and said I was right and they were working on it. ("It" is the new electronic water master system) I have had perfect water runs for months now. You might ask why couldn't SRP get that done oh maybe a year ago? WelI I have not idea but I do know they have shown me the way to get results - act like a crazy person. Seriously the service in agricultural irrigation has dramatically improved. We have a condo, vacation home, in Tempe and our electric bill suddenly seemed high for the place being vacant. Went on-line and looked at our usage, it had nearly quadrupled! Called SRP customer service and their response was, "there must be someone living there". Really? This place is vacant. I am very disappointed, first, our usage suddenly jumped by 4 times and no one noticed. They read the usage everyday and track it. Their systems aren't set up to generate a, "this doesn't look right" alert. Second, they could have cared less; we will just send you the bill and you will pay it Turned out the capacitor on the A/C system failed and the air handler was running non-stop. My electric ran out on my meter late tonight, it is raining and I am going to walk to the grocery store in the morning when it opens. That being said, MICHAEL FROM SRP made the whole issue more than worthwhile!! Not only did this gentleman screen me for low income/additional help (which I immediately was approved for!) he listened to me more or less whine about my situation for a good 30 minutes. I learned a lesson about myself and my choices while MICHAEL listened patiently, and he occasionally commented positively. At the end of this phone call, MICHAEL has me set up where all I have to do at the start of every month is simply call SRP and ask SRP to apply my new $20 credit! And, he put $4 on my power immediately which truthfully will get me about 3 days if I keep the heater off (which I normally do!). That changes everything for me! No longer do I have to choose between spending $$ on groceries or power. If I maybe match MICHAEL'S $20 credit each month, I'm good for that month or very very close! Thank you SRP and MICHAEL . His simple kindness and patience are the things missing from most equations nowadays. Much appreciated and SRP should commend this young man MICHAEL for his CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS! I have been an SRP customer for 35 years. My bill this month was 10 days late. They shut off 100% of my power on one of the hottest days of the year, when I got home my house was 92* w no air circulating. I have 3 small dogs that were suffocating one died as a result of heat stroke that night. I then got a notice of an additional deposit required which they promptly waived when I threatened to post a video on FB. The SRP board members are all demons. They take advantage of the hight temps in summer and jacked up rates to be punitive just like a government bureaucracy. I wonder how many seniors in AZ they have killed with these greedy tactics? They are all going straight to Hell. But not before they go out of business. Alternative energy is coming and they are not going to stop it. I guess when you're the only one providing a service to a community, without competition, then good customer service is not a priority. I believe this is the case with Salt River Project. We used the online service to schedule the power to be turned on in our home that we were closing on. We even received confirmation that it was going to happen. We closed on Friday and there was no power. We moved in on Saturday and went the entire weekend without heat, light, refrigerator, hot water, and a stove. We called the customer service number repeatedly and left our telephone number as the recorded message said to do. The message also said someone will call us back. They never did. What was supposed to be a warm welcoming home moving in experience, ended up being a cold and dark experience over a long 3 day holiday weekend. This is now the 4th day and we still don't have power. read more

I haven't had issue with SRP until they started price gouging solar customers. I've followed this case very closely (as it affects my family) and there is really no legitimate reason for them to do this. They claim it is to "offset grid costs" which is extremely vague, misleading, and ludicrous. Call it what it is SRP. In essence you are punishing customers for switching to an alternative, cleaner energy source which is bad for your pockets. With the federal government pushing so hard the last decade to expand the use of cleaner energy sources, I wouldn't be surprised if some day down the line this predatory business practice SRP is using gets struck down. read more

SRP Sucks!!!!!!! They charge an initial $275 deposit. I was somewhat okay with this. Phoenix is a big city and I can understand that they need to make sure you pay for what they're providing. I was not aware however, that every time you're late paying your bill, they will shut off your power immediately (no warning, or grace period) and for each time you're late - they charge you ANOTHER $275 DEPOSIT!!!!!!!!!! SRP is not required to give this money back to you until you terminate services with them. They say you'll get your deposit back after 18 months, but I've just read several consumer complaints online saying otherwise. Apparently, they assess your credit after 18 months, and if it doesn't meet their criteria they don't have to give your deposit back. Also, if you've had even ONE late payment, they do not have to give you your deposit back after 18 months. Can you imagine how much of the Valley's money they're sitting on right now? I've only used SRP for 4 months now and because I was late on one payment, I've now accrued over $600 in fees and deposits - this doesn't even include my power bill. Total crooks. I HATE SRP and I hope the people that run this company get what they deserve some day. read more

What happened to the budget plan that updated yearly?!?! My bill used to be configured to have 1 payment amount and it was adjusted annually. NOW every 3 months my bill changes. I called the budget plan is now quarterly. My bill can range from $30-40 more in summer than winter. To someone on disability who is on a tight monthly budget. That 30-40 can mean no food or medications. They need to go back to the annual budget - the quarterly stinks! I also wish they would notify you if they see drastic spike in use out of the norm for your property. I had 2 heat strips stuck on in May which I did not know but A/C was blowing lukewarm air. Called A/C people to look at it and they found this out. He said my electricity probably was real high. I didn't know as hadn't been billed yet. So I looked and sure enough for 3 days there were spikes on my graph that almost tripled the norm. Howard Air is who I trust as they allowed me til Oct-Nov to save for new relay. I don't think it is fair to have only one power company to chose as I feel they charge more when not having to be competitive. read more

I bought 2 brand new 16 seer air conditioners and had them installed by a professional reputable company. They check my home for leaks and completely remodeled my duct work. My bill with SRP initially started to go down by almost $200.00. About 30 days passed and I noticed by Bill starting to rise by $300.00. I called out the company for a complete inspection of my duct work and seals. All fine... I believe SRP starts to gouge when they see your bill getting lower, the higher the temp outside the higher they raise there estimated prices. The reason I say this is because I just came back from a 2 week vacation and when I left shut everything off except for the refrigerator, to my surprise my bill dropped only $20.00. I will say this till the end.. SRP scams there customers especially if you have an electronic digital meter.
