Fun night w The Mean Machine band playing. Nice venue on the beach. Parking was full so we had to park at the Outlook beach and walk over, luckily the tram came by just in time. We schlepped our beach chairs but they went unused cause we were able to find a table/chairs. The only downside is that you couldn't drink your own drinks. A security guard nicely informed us. On volleyball nights, and band nights, the place gets too crowded, esp the parking lot. Oh, if you arrive before 5pm, parking is $40!! read more

Would give more stars if I could! Live music, delicious food, strong drinks, on the water = match made in heaven! Hidden gem on Ocean parkway. So far I've only been here twice and both times were over the last couple of weeks. They attracted a pretty large crowd with the live music but there was still a lot of room to move around and eat in peace. Everything I've ordered here has been amazing, short of the fish tacos which were just okay. Carne asada tacos were amazing with a generous amount of guac :) Avocado fries and new england clam chowder were DELICIOUS!! Calamari and mozzarella sticks were good, but wouldn't get them again. Service was great! Friendly staff and fast in the kitchen! IF I COULD LEAVE A 0 STAR REVIEW I WOULD. NEVER EVER go to Salt Shack in Babylon, NY. My friends and I were going there for our friend's birthday and we were originally told that we couldn't go in because all members of our party were not 21 (even though some us were). They then changed it to say we needed a guardian that is our mom or dad (WTF). Then one security guard said that if we found someone to pretend to be our parent they would let us in. After letting us in we were then questioned and harassed MULTIPLE times. All we wanted to do was eat and celebrate our friends birthday (with no alcohol). We drove an hour away to come here and no where online or in person does it say only people over 21/ accompanied by a parent (not even a person of legal guardian age) are welcome. IMPORTANT: the two security guards in the front of the line (the two that later harassed as we were eating) LET us in and moved to allow us to enter. After ordering our food and sitting down on benches FAR AWAY from the bar we were further question by security personnel. We explained to him what the security who let us in originally had told us and he asked us which one. 10 minutes later all members of security were staring at us talking amongst each other before they all came over and started yelling at us, threatening us, and calling us liars. We were then escorted out of the restaurant and we were forced to eat outside the restaurant fence, which is not even 25 ft away from where we were sitting before. This experience was unacceptable and Salt Shack needs to state their expectations instead of harassing young adults for not being with a parent. When they came over to us it was evident that there was no alcohol on the table. So even though there are kids running around, family gatherings, and we are all legal adults over 18 we aren't allowed to sit in the vicinity. DO BETTER. Salt Shack DOES NOT DESERVE to be in business if this is how they treat their paying customers (who they let into their restaurant). read more

Not a good experience. Getting inside was a nightmare. People kept cutting the line and there was no traffic control. Waited an hour to get in. The staff here were not friendly. We tried to get inside for food and left our stuff at the beach. There were two bouncers who were IDing people at 4pm even tho the sign said ID after 6pm. He made a comment about my friends looking too young even tho she was 32. I was the only one with an ID so they checked me and let me in. I waited on the long line for 30 minutes til they finally told me I needed a shirt to order when I was next to order. I didn't see any sign requiring me to wear a shirt. The bouncer should have told me before instead of me wasting my time. I will never spend money here again. read more

Yesterday, I went with a group of my friends and my service dog to attend a concert at the Salt Shack, as I have done before. There were two men in uniform at the entrance who denied me access saying it's a liability. I called the 24/7 ADA helpline try to explain to them that it was illegal to discriminate and not allow me in due to my disability. One man asked me what service he provides and I explained. Even so, the men threatened me with a summons if I entered and said I would have to take it to court. They claimed a local attorney told them they could ignore federal rule within the town of Babylon and I could not go in without a Babylon dog license despite it being a public venue. Please address this and explain that what they are doing is illegal. read more

You can't really go wrong with any place on the beach. Having been a resident and Townie beach goer I have watched this venue take shape from its original concept to a happening hot spot. Rows n rows n rows of volleyball nets facilitate league night, Sunday's you can catch aisles of classic cars in the parking lot and the feel of nostalgia is in the air. Then there's the new band shell that boasts a wide variety of musical acts to tickle anyone's fancy. An additional bar has been added but the service is very poor. As a former mixologist, a busy bar =Profit but... when there isn't even eye contact or just a simple acknowledgement of "I'll be right with you" and your just left standing there... never a good thing. Also like any venue, restroom facilities can make or break you. This venue is also the home base for beach goers as well so the lines for the restrooms are insane. They've created a patio type area right down on the sand, a second and third level for spectacular viewing of the bands, the volleyball, amazing sunsets and of course, the Atlantic Ocean. read more

First time here. Pretty view but the food was awful. Had a variety of fried food. They tasted like fish fried in old oil.

This place gets five stars simply because they have completely redid the place and made it into a tropical oasis. You feel as though you've stepped out of New York and into the Floridian coast line. Upon arrival you'll either be serenaded by beach music from a local DJ or one of the greatest local bands on Long Island. Check the schedule they're there pretty much every day starting around 5 PM. There is a variety of food selections to choose from. Yes food prices are slightly higher than normal but you are at a seasonal restaurant so take it for what it is. Food is fresh food is good anything from chicken to Sea Food all the way through a lobster roll. In addition to the salt shack's menu there is a large bar that you can sit out that is covered so you're not in the sun or if you prefer to sit outside there are picnic tables in the sun and upstairs deck to sit out or there are tables facing the volleyball courts in beach with umbrellas. You also will find that there is a tropical drink bar with a variety of taps their drinks elections are plenty full they have great creations like a spicy margarita or a daiquiri of choice. Don't forget a mudslide there always a go to. They are not stingy on their liquor for the price you pay for the drink which is always helpful. In addition to the shack they have added a bangle bowls on the side super excited for this whether you want breakfast lunch or dinner if you've ever been to Bango Bowls which many of us yelpers had been till you will know that their food is fresh and delicious so if you're going for a healthy option there are plenty to choose from. I absolutely love the Decour the giant chair as well as all the palm trees. I hope they know how to maintain those palm trees so that they have them year after year the new stage is set for the bands can't wait to spend my summers here. read more

Went last year and found the bartending staff rude. Patiently waited for a drink during a busy time for nearly 10 minutes at the bar and felt somewhat ignored. It was confirmed when someone near me just walked up and got served. I scoffed and the bartender went on a tirade at me screaming how busy she is. I wanted to scream back but kept my cool. Finally got served and she did attempt to apologize. Went this year during COVID and so naturally the crowd was far less people. Had my mask on and approached two female bartenders that seemed to turn and walk away. To confirm this, I overheard their apparent manager say to one of them, "You know when customers come up to you you have to serve them." Rude staff with bizarre attitude problems. Going forward I will stick to sitting on the beach and bringing my own drinks. Also, a security guard checked my bag while in the shack vicinity to apparently make sure I had no alcohol. Went there last night. Interesting scene!! I brought my two children, 11 and 14. It certainly is not a place for children. It is quite dirty and the food is $$$. I had the tuna wrap and it wasn't tasty at all. I smelled weed the entire time. The parking was a hot mess. We had to park in the Babylon lot. It was very far. Solid fare for a beach shack and love that they seem to provide employment opportunities to local kids. Bringing back the summer job is awesome and I wish more businesses would do this. I had the fish tacos ($14 for 3) which were kind of pricey but weren't half bad although they took a while to come out. The inside area is spacious and they have a number of dining kiosks as well as a bar. I didn't use the bathrooms but it was nice to see they were available. Outside dining area is nice and I was content to park myself at a picnic table and sink my feet in the sand. So we get there about 7:15. Sign is up that the lot is full and go to the next lot. We show them my handicap tag. ( I had knee surgery and can't do far walks) He said there are no spots. I told him I can't do that walk. He tells us there is a tram. Ok fine. So we drive to the other parking lot walked around, got on the tram. While the tram is driving through the lot, we notice at least two dozen empty spots. WTF is with that? How can that be when we were told the lot was FULL. They lied to us Ok so now we go in to listen to some music which was great. Around 9:15 we decided we had enough go out to the parking lot to get the tram to go back to the very far parking lot where they made us park This women ( the one that drove us to the music) is walking around and sees us waiting and says you are not waiting on me are you ? We said yes. She said the tram already stopped. Ok great how can they do that? The tram should be running till the very last person in that far parking lot is gone Now how do I get back to my car? If I could not do the walk to the music how do I do the walk back to my car ? They should tell people the tram stops at such and such time My husband had no choice but to do the huge walk to go get the car. Problem is he had to drive awhile to come all the way back around to get in the parking I'm in waiting for. Recently a friend and I came in for lunch and cocktails. We had 2 drinks and started feeling extremely intoxicated, which for both of us is abnormal. We decided to walk back to the boat to rest and within 10 min we became paralysed. The feeling was scary and we realized we had been drugged but not knowing who or how. We were in this state for approximately 45 min and came to. We called Salt Shack the following day to inform them what had happened and have a report filed just to get rude responses and the phone hung up on us. Not sure why the manager wouldn't file a report for us as we wanted but we ended up filing one with police instead. In addition we went to get drug test performed at the hospital to find out what was in our system and were told many incidents have occurred prior to us reporting and were from the same place. One should know that if they bring their car, they are subject to receiving a parking ticket for $350 after dusk. The Parking Lot is governed by the Babylon town and they will ticket your parked car at The Salt Shack. The Salt Shack is opened to 11 pm, and they do not have anything in obvious sign to say this. The proprietors of the this establishment don't care, and they will do nothing to stop it. It doesn't matter how good the food, the music, or the decor is; if i'm going to find a $350 ticket for parking there after dark, it's not worth it. I live super close to Smith Point Beach so rarely stray to other beaches. That said, I am so glad I did. The Salt Shack is heads above Tiki Joe's at Smith Point. The fully stocked and large bar is a pleasant surprise, as I am so accustomed to the single line long wait at Tiki Joe's. The food options are way better. I have played volleyball at cedar beach for three years and since they got new league owners (which are terrible) and switched over to the salt shack, they've let it go down the drain. Just because they added acai bowls to their menu doesn't mean its better. The bathrooms have black mold all over the stall walls and they have the nerve to put a tip bucket in there? LOL for what? The drinks were good and the food from the grille was also great for the kids. Our bad experience came with our poke bowls. Both young people working were not wearing masks. Okay. Whatever. There was barely a line, but we waited 30+ minutes for our bowls. As we waited we watched the female employee pick stuff out of another customers acai bowl. Her hand was gloved, but it was weird to watch. She then placed it on the counter for the customer ahead of us to pick up. Sigh....okay. We then watched the male employee finally start to prepare our bowls and he was popping shrimp into his mouth as he was making our meal....gross. His hand never touched his mouth so I guess he would assume this was okay. But again, what a weird thing to watch. Our three bowls totaling 50 bucks or so was finally ready and I realized two of them were the wrong order. I politely pointed it out and the male employee said " What do you want me to do? I'm the only one here! " That was a lie. But I just wanted to get back down to the beach and enjoy my drink at that point, so I said okay and we took the bowls we didn't order. Don't get there before 500 PM. It is $40 to enter before 500 PM. Most people wait on Ocean Parkway until 500 PM then it is free. Food was a little better than fast food. Fresh, but expensive. $15.00 for a pulled pork sandwiches and fries. Bar is also high priced. Bathrooms are clean enough. Live music is nice. As it gets later in the evening it is a middle aged hook up place. Very uncomfortable. Middle aged people acting like they are 21 is a turn off. read more

We were 6 - 50/60 year oldshaving a fun nite at the salt shack. There for our first time. Sorry to say we had a very disappointing evening at the salt shack. We went to listen to a great band. Got there about 6:00 sat by the stage at a round table for over 2 hours. Got some drinks and as our friends arrived they took out some snacks. Our one friend just spent 45 minutes online for food. The owner/ manager (gray haired guy with a bandaged hand). Told us we would have to leave because we had our own snacks. We put everything away and apologized. But I guess that wasn't enough. He sent security over. And made us leave. We tried reasoning with the gray haired man, but he threw us out like drunken teenagers. We Will go back to listen to our fav band. It's bad enough we're dealing with the new normal and we have to sit in one place, but to for security to ask personal questions about where I'm going and what I'm doing with my phone is too much. The tina wrap is way too salty and so is the shrimp taco. Plus the music by Mystic was like a funeral dirge. Crusty slow oldies that made everyone depressed. When they did a country song it was time to leave. Prices are too high for food and drinks. The only thing good is the beach scenery. The atmosphere as usual was outstanding, if I had to pick anyplace on the beach (that wasn't ob) to buy an overpriced beer it would be the salt shack. That being said I was extremely disappointed by the lobster roll they had. For $25, I expected it to be fed to me or at least make it bigger than my fist. I don't think that's to much to ask for. For the life of me I can't figure out who gave this five stars, whoever gave this place five stars must have date night at McDonald's the food is barely OK You can't get it the way you want it I tried to get a buffalo chicken sandwich with no blue cheese they said they can't do that because it could get too confusing and then I asked for a grilled chicken sandwich with no avocados and they said the same thing! Located beachside at Cedar beach. Food was pretty good. Great options. There's also a bar that serves frozen drinks that were delicious. I had the chicken sandwich, shrimp tacos, and we also tried the poke' bowls. Everything was delicious. A DJ was playing great music which made the atmosphere more enjoyable. Palm trees lined the entire outside. There is a roof top and a stage area. The place is pretty new. However the floors are concrete. Mixture of water and sand made the floors look swampy. Bathrooms were typical beach bathrooms and could've been cleaner. Would be nice to have more natural lighting/skylights. Overall very good and will be back. read more
