The taproom is relaxed enough that working for a bit doesn't feel out of place, and once the inbox was under control, it was time to switch gears. An hour with a pocket full of quarters goes fast here. The mix of classic arcade cabinets and pinball machines is a fun throwback, even if my Donkey Kong skills are exactly as terrible as they were in the 90s. Let's start with what completely blew me away: the dessert. I'm not even a dessert person, but the toffee cake with ice cream was hands down the best restaurant dessert I've ever had. Absolutely unbelievable. I could've eaten three more. I already can't wait to come back, and honestly, I'd come back just for that dessert. Our sever asked us if we wanted to lick the plate LOL. By the way she was great. Now, the wings. The 5-wing basket with waffle fries is one of the best values I've seen in a long time. The Buffalo wings were fantastic, perfectly cooked with great flavor. The wrap was also excellent--it comes pressed like a panini, which takes it to another level. And those waffle fries... get the Memphis seasoning. The rub is ridiculously good. You can even get that same seasoning on the wings, and it's a game changer. Between the food, portions, prices, and atmosphere, this place absolutely exceeded every expectation I had. If you're looking for a nice place to enjoy BBQ, Salt + Smoke in St Charles, MO, is the perfect spot! I recently visited this restaurant and had a great experience. First off, let's talk about the drinks. The beer selection was fantastic, with various local and craft brews on tap. And the bourbon, rye, and whiskey selection was simply phenomenal. Whether you're a connoisseur or want to try something new, they have a great variety. As for the food, I ordered the Bestie Combo 3, which came with various meats and sides. While the BBQ wasn't the best I've ever had, it was still quite good. The standout dishes for me were the Mac and Cheesy (so delicious!) and the Toasted Ravioli, which were a real treat. I also appreciated the outdoor seating area, which was large, beautifully landscaped, and nicely maintained. It was the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. The only slight downside was the service, which was just okay. But that didn't detract from the overall experience. All in all, Salt + Smoke is a restaurant that I would recommend to anyone looking for a great dining experience. read more

Drawn in by a TikTok review, we ventured into Salt + Smoke in charming Old Town St. Charles and were immediately captivated by its inviting alfresco dining area complete with a cozy fireplace. The laid-back and relaxed vibe of the staff set the tone for a leisurely and enjoyable dining experience. For appetizers, we savored the Smoked Crispy Chicken Skin - a satisfying treat, though the real standout was the loaded beef fat fries. While the Deviled Eggs were tasty, a sprinkling of smoked sea salt would have elevated them further. Moving on to the entrees, my wife's choice of pulled pork with macaroni and cheese delighted her taste buds. Personally, I opted for the fried jalapeño cheddar bologna sandwich with potato salad, and it turned out to be the best bologna sandwich I've ever had. The overall consensus was of satisfaction and delight, with my wife recommending Salt + Smoke to anyone seeking a unique and flavor-packed meal in a welcoming setting. Wow, this restaurant had a really cozy and welcoming atmosphere with lots of rustic decor and super friendly staff. The menu had all sorts of BBQ options, including ribs, brisket, poultry options and more. I ordered a combo platter with the beef brisket, and it was cooked to perfection - tender, juicy cubes, and packed with smoky flavor. One of the things that stood out to me about this restaurant was their BBQ sauce. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and it really complemented the smoky flavor of the meat... and I'm not much of a fan of BBQ sauce, so you know it must have been really good. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the St. Charles area of Sr. Louis. The food was top-notch, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the location in the historic district made it even more charming. read more

What a disaster this place was. They had a long line and at least a dozen signs threatening you, as a healthy person, to put on a mask or go to hell. The greeters were also mask Nazis so I'm sure government elites and people terrified of healthy people not wearing a mask would love it, but nothing is worse for a customer than being treated like garbage. Mission accomplished, Salt team. I'm sure you've scored good points with the bigots who hate on anyone who doesn't mask up when healthy but treating your customers as of they're genocidal maniacs isn't good. Food was fine. Too bad we had to wait and be constantly shamed. Both of us have had the vaccine, and were completely healthy with no symptoms of anything. Very disappointed. read more

Definitely a strong new dining competitor along Historic Main Street in St. Charles, occupying the former Little Hills Winery restaurant space on South Main. Pleasant outdoor dining in a multi-tiered patio space, plus comfortable indoor seating. Host & service staffs are friendly and mostly attentive, with some improvement in monitoring the outdoor check-in podium needed (could be due to new staffing needing more experience). Excellent brisket & burger, very tasty & tender ribs, could use some work on sides quality. Prices are comparable to other restaurants along Main Street & reasonable for the portion sizes. I've dined there twice now, and I will return. read more

Food was great. The pulled pork was the best I have ever had. The ribs were nice. They were not doused in barbecue sauce. So their natural flavour was evident. Macaroni and cheese was above average. As for the restaurant itself...it was too loud and crowded. We were sitting on top of not just the people in our party, but also the people at the tables on each side of us. Service was ok, but not great. Perhaps we would get take away from this place, but I doubt we will go to eat in. read more

The service was excellent throughout our visit--friendly, attentive, and definitely the highlight of the experience. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. In hindsight, we probably should have stopped at the appetizers, which were the most enjoyable part of the meal. The gumbo was especially disappointing--bland, overly thick, and chunky, lacking the depth of flavor you'd expect. The smoked ham and beans were equally underwhelming, with very little seasoning. In fact, nearly everything we ordered seemed overcooked and desperately needed salt and seasoning. The restaurant has a lot of potential because the atmosphere and service are so strong, but the kitchen needs to put much more focus on flavor and execution. Hopefully this was just an off night, because the venue itself is worth visiting. Lunch 6/15/26

The rolls and butter were incredibly addictive. The Caesar salad was generously topped with shredded Parmesan cheese and had a creamy dressing. For my main course, I opted for the lobster combo, which included a 6-ounce filet, lobster tail, and three shrimp scampi. Why settle for just one when you can have them all? The filet was cooked to perfection and accompanied by a generous scoop of Tony's signature steak butter, which was simply delicious. The lobster tail was equally impressive, whether enjoyed on its own or with a squeeze of lemon and the butter draw they offer.
