For a Tuesday night, Tony's was especially busy with what seemed a predominantly business crowd. My house salad was excellent, and filling even with the Small option. Other diners in our small party enjoyed their meals as well. The service was adequate, but our server had to be reminded of missing items sometimes multiple times before they arrived. Tony's on Main is delicious! They have great cocktails, appetizers, and entrees. I got the raspberry lemon drop martini. It was sweet but tart at the same time. Then I got the steak medallions with a baked potato. The steak was cooked perfectly and it had an amazing sauce and seasoning. The service was fabulous. Wow. Just wow. We loved it here. Great friendly service in a neat Italian yet historical vibe within the building. They were starting to get busier upstairs as they have another bar up there in the evening. St. Charles is kinda a different vibe after 9 down there as it is a younger crowd so make sure to go before 8-830 then if trying to avoid that. Started the night with an espresso martini and the addicting bread with honey butter. We shared the Steak Modiga and it was AMAZING. We ate all of it along with the Alfredo pasta. It was sooooo good. We came on Saturday and did not make a reservation and were able to get a seat upstairs immediately. The service was excellent! All the bartenders are checking in and it was great! I ordered the seasonal sangria and it was tasty! My husband got an espresso martini and added baileys and it was also really good. My husband ordered the filet with a salad and the Alfredo. I ordered the chicken Anthony and filet with a side salad and au gratin potatoes. The steak was so tender and delicious!! The chicken was so so good (if you like lemon!) the house French dressing was really good as well! The side of au gratin potatoes were huge and I only tried a few bites. I would probably try another side next time but everything was amazing. I'm excited to have another local restaurant to bring out of town guests to! read more

I absolutely love Tony's for the most part. The steaks are always delicious and the chicken nachos are to die for. Everyone was happy with their meal except the one person who always Hates Tony's and that's okay... she came to celebrate her granddaughters birthday with us! Staff are not always the friendliest or bubliest, but they are efficient and do their jobs... including ensuring everything is going well and drinks are filled and that's the job so I don't fault anyone for this. I'd rather have good service than fake smiles. The one major complaint everyone has is that the ai gratins which used to be a favorite are no longer serves in the little silver cassoulet which made them better. We loved all the burnt cheese and the fact that the potato's had flavor and were always tender. As they are now, served on a plate, they are inconsistent and not always thoroughly cooked. A huge disappointment especially considering it was to celebrate a birthday and it was the birthday girls favorite menu item. Please reconsider the way these are served and go back to the cassoulet or at least ensure they are thoroughly cooked. Tony's is a nice cozy little restaurant, and its charm is one reason we like to come here. While ai tend to always get the Frank's combo which is amazing, and my daughter equally adores a d always gets Hannah's combo. Although we have tried a wide range of dishes, only the pasta lost with everyone due to sauce to noodle ratio... it was swimming in sauce. I've been wanting to try Tony's on Main for years as I've always heard great things about this restaurant, and finally had the chance with some co workers one day. The place is big, the ambience was cozy and the service was great; very friendly and attentive. Maybe it's a preference thing, but I had no idea what the flavor consisted of or what to compare it to. I go there for the Cognac Pepper Steak. I order it medium rare. The last three times it came out medium to medium done. I'm starting to get disappointed going there. This place has changed... steaks were raw and tough like they were hurried, pasta was bland, chicken parm was a thick chunk that tasted like oil and the breading fell off of the chicken when cut. My family and I came here for lunch in a Saturday. We had 6 adults and a baby who needed a booster seat. The hostess was very nice and gave us a table with plenty of space for the booster seat. Our waitress was very friendly and came by often to check in on us. Our waitress was also very patient considering my nephew knocked over a cup of water. For an appetizer we got the shrimp and artichoke dip. This was delicious. My husband who isn't a big fan of artichokes even liked it. For my entree I got the Cajun shrimp and it was delicious. Be warned it was spicy so if you're not a fan of spicy this might not be for you. I loved the pasta with it. My husband got the Main Street burger, and he really enjoyed it. Nice happy hour specials. A proper old fashion for $7. We had a party of 12 for a birthday service was great. Food is good, didn't get any pics was too busy gabbing. I will have to agree with some of the other reviews that salad dressings are watered down. The French dressing on my salad was a pale color and very watery like my lettuce was in a pool. Steak and shrimp was excellent but they do tend to "over sauce" all dishes. Take a look at other pics you will see what I am sharing. I Will start asking for my sauces on the side in future visits. We go to Tony's 2-3x a month. I could really eat there everyday. The service and ambiance is fun and charming. This was one of the first places I visited when I moved to the St Charles area. For the traveling through: 1. Ask for mozzarella on your pizza, [they use provel cheese, it's an acquired taste] 2. Ask for pizza well done, [undercooked, chewy is the STL style] 3. Wife wanted to come again for her birthday. Been here before, and loved it. This time, not so much. Service was excellent. Atmosphere was as expected. Drinks, apppetizers, and salads were wonderful. Steaks were all perfectly cooked, but were luke warm and pretty tasteless. Only the excellent steak butter gave them flavor. It was like they hadn't been seasoned at all before being cooked. The potatoes were not hot enough to melt butter, and some of the veggies were also pretty cool. Twice the waitress delivered a plate saying "be careful it's hot", but it wasn't - picked it right up with no issues. They were pretty busy for a Tuesday and perhaps things just sat in the warming window too long. This was not our normal experience here, and we'll be back to give them another chance. read more

Room for improvement..... I came here with a friend of mine and were sat rather quickly. The server came by and while friendly, seemed absent-minded. I have this thing that every time I've been served and the server doesn't write it down, it comes out wrong. While it was a minor mistake, it still was no different. Neither one of us were too hungry, so we both opted for small salads and she got a side of chicken with hers and I got a side order of alfredo pasta. We ended up having to ask for bread three different times. She said it would come out with the salads but regardless, it took a long time to get there. When she took our drink order, I requested a short. She brought out a tall and then asked if that's what I had wanted when in fact I had ordered a short. Not too big of a deal but again, this proves my point about writing stuff down. After waiting 25 mins, the food was brought out except they brought out my side of pasta and her side of chicken. JUST CHICKEN! We were both confused and wondering where the rest of her order was. As to not be impolite, I offered to wait to eat until the rest of the food came. My friend never got a water refill and service was sub-par at best. Also, I KNOW my pasta was sitting for a while because it was lukewarm. We ate here for the first time. It's definitely a nice place to eat. I say the inside is romantic with how they have the lighting. The service was excellent. We got a table quickly. We went for dinner on a Thursday with no reservations. They have a lot to choose from on the menu. They also have a patio area on the rooftop to sit and eat. I got the chicken parm. Popped in for dinner on a weeknight. We used to frequent this venue regularly, but have not been in a while. Seating is first come, first served in the bar area and our group sat at an open table upon arrival. They also have dining room seating and take reservations. We ordered our drinks, I had an Old Fashioned which was amazing and they use the dark cherries, yum! Another in our group ordered a Tito's and lemonade which looked tasty and they agreed! We shared the Garlic Shrimp app that has six very large shrimp with the most creamy sauce with a nest of noodles. A favorite. I enjoyed the Chicken Modiga with a side of broccoli and the side salad with house dressing. The house dressing is so good I wish they would see it to take home. Parking is available free on the street or various parking lots near by. The menu has changed a bit and some of our favorites are missing, but still many good options to choose from.
