It took a lot of effort for us to finally get a table after a couple of months of trying - seemed as if there were some reservations/availability limitations over the first couple of months. We were lucky to be friends with someone who lives in the neighborhood and knew just the right time to go. Our party of five was seated right away for our late Thursday dinner and we had made it just in time for Happy Hour - $3 cans of PBR and $1 off some of the best appetizers, not a bad deal! The Happy Hour prices though helped to offset the expense of the rest of the meal.. $12 for two tacos and $5 for a basket of chips is just a little pricey for a trendy looking Mexican restaurant. Bottom line is that Salted Lime is inconsistent with being able to seat guests during prime dining hours and it's really over priced for what you're offered. There are too many other places in the area that are just as good where you get what you see when you walk in to be seated. I'm hoping that they were just going through some growing pains for the first few months because I'm sure I will be back with my friends in the warmer months - fingers crossed for a salad addition to the menu by then. read more

I met up with a few friends for lunch here. Service was good and the mango margarita was really good! I thought the food was only okay, no complaints but pretty standard. I had the vegetarian quesadilla which I found to be very greasy, and had to add a bunch of hot sauce to give it some flavor. For the prices they charge, I'd want better. First thing to come out was the guacamole which should be called tiny amount of $9 cut up avocado. There was big chunks with no other flavor. Luckily the next app more than made up for it. The arepas were soft warm cornbread topped with grilled cheese, green sauce and fresh jalapeños. This was excellent! Our table also split a few orders of chicken tacos, some with corn tortillas and one order with flour tortillas. The waiter told us the flour tortillas were made with pork. They were also excellent! Just a weird thing is that they serve them on these small slab of stone. The stone is fine but too small to eat off of. Our table shared the churros served with a fantastic chocolate and salted caramel dipping sauce. The churros were soft kind of custardy on the inside and we thought they were undercooked. We had the ask the waiter about it and he said that's how the chef wants them. They were good. Salted lime Margaritas were tasty but pretty small. The place is artistic, trendy looking but loud. Not so hidden down on Main Street in Somerville, Salted Lime seems like the perfect spot for dinner, drinks, appetizers, casual socializing, date nights, group outings, margarita enthusiasts, and boring beer drinkers alike. What started off as just a drink turned into 2nd dinner very quickly. Classic Margarita (no salt) ((salt on the rim of a margarita glass is super gross)) Guacamole, Salsa, lechon tacos, snack on the 12 bags of amazing chips that came with our guacamole and salsa - I kid you not these chips were goooood, Chaufa (which is basically a stir fry with rice, shrimp, pork belly, and lots of a veggies. It was incredible. I was sharing everything with a friend and she's gluten free so that was part of the reason we opted for the Chaufa but I am so happy we did. It had some sort of kind of spicy sauce on it, maybe the saffron crema, but it was just a really wonderful dish). And then more margs, and many more chips. 2nd dinner at Salted Lime was a good one. And I highly recommend you stop in here for 1st lunch, 2nd lunch, 1st dinner or 2nd dinner when you can. read more

The Salted Lime Bar and Kitchen on 46 East Main Street in Somerville is a trendy neighborhood bar which serves tasty small plates. The dining room was large and crowded so we opted for bar seating. There is a Mexican theme to this place so I ordered a Mexican beer. Their interesting menu has chips & dips, small plates, skewered street food, tacos, sandwiches and shareable plates. It is gimmicky and pricey for the quantity but the flavors were nicely blended. I choose the Yucca & Chicharron small plate and an order of Chori Papa. The yucca wasn't great but the marinated cabbage and tomato cumin aioli were delicious. The Columbian chorizo was enjoyed. It is loaded with meat and onions which is more of my style of eating. I could watch the ladies carefully prepare and plate the food in the kitchen which has an open view from the bar. The bartenders and servers were patient and attentive. Although The Salted Lime has some great weekly specials, it will not become my regular hangout. The liquor pours are precisely measured and favor the house. I doubt I'll ever get a free drink there. It is a nice place for a change or to bring a new friend or client for a drink and a bite. read more

I was really looking forward to Salted Lime opening but when I finally went to visit I left underwhelmed. My boyfriend and I came here together the first Saturday after their official opening and made sure to book restorations as we really wanted to try this place and ensure we had a seat! We arrived to the Salted Lime was a quickly sat in a far back room, completely separate from the main dining room and directly under a fan blasting cold air (it was blowing so hard my hair actually blew in the wind!). I nicely asked the hostess if we could be moved as the fan was cold and strong and the room did not feel apart of the restaurant. She had no problem reseating us and let us know that the room is used for reservations - note for everyone: if you want to be part of the restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere, when booking a reservation ask to be seated in the main room and not back room. Once we were able to move we quickly ordered cocktails and some food. The drinks sounded good on the menu but they were just okay. For food we went with the yuca and chicharron balls (delicious), a potato dish I no longer see on the menu (pass on it anyways), carne asada tacos (good but steak and pineapples could have been cut smaller to accommodate the small tortillas used). We then ordered the chafua to share which was really good! In all the food was good. The food was good - nothing terrible but not very memorable and service wasn't the best (they're newly opened, I understand so I will give them some leeway there). I think I'll try again some day but I'm not running back anytime soon. read more

This place was such disappointment even my husband was super upset. The appetizer came out super fast got me question if it was fresh or old reheated. What we didn't like was 1. No chips or any dipping for the table. We got the chicken lollipops it was nasty it was 4 pieces of chicken legs we could've gotten better flavor from Popeyes. The food did not have the authentic Mexican flavor at all. The shrimp taco was super sweet and gross literally had no taco seasoning at all no lettuce on top or even guacamole. Tried this place out on a Thursday night. We had the LuLu wings as an appetizer. The wings are more like baked than fried which I liked. The glaze/sauce was a little too sweet for me. I also had the Al Pastor and Brisket tacos. The Al pastor was a little dry and not a lot of flavors to it. But I did like the brisket, nice and smoky. Overall, would I come back? I had high expectations about this place just being seeing how it is always crowded and the restaurant from the outside look really. We tried 3 dishes, the chips and salsa, the birria taco, and the chicken mole flauta. The chips were very thick and salty. It is almost too thick where it would scratch the roof of your mouth. The salsa tasted okay, nothing out of the ordinary. The consume from the birria tacos lacked in taste. It was very watery and did not have enough flavor and depth. This was a great place to stop by in downtown Somerville, would recommend a reservation as they seem to be pretty popular. They have a nice outdoor area in the front with plenty of space for a socially distanced meal. The margaritas are delicious, as was the food. I have been waiting for this place to open, and I have to say it did not disappoint. Some of the reviews reference the small plate sizes for the price, which I cannot deny. However everything we tried (see pictures) was pretty good. I don't know if it's somewhere I will rush back to for dinner, but the churros were fantastic, and definitely helped get me to press the fourth star. I came to Salted Lime Bar & Kitchen right before the pandemic struck to send one of my besties on her way (moving to Atlanta). It was a Thursday night and the place was nearly completely empty. It's really big inside so the emptiness was extra noticeable. Plenty of street parking and obviously didn't have an issue getting a table. The guacamole was good and obviously got two orders (yummm). Margs were alright, nothing to really knock your socks off and quite mix-y. For dinner, I had the shrimp tacos and were surprised to find that they had a sweet sauce on them (maybe like a thai chili sauce?) they were good but not really what I was expecting. Our waitress was brand new and didn't know the answers to anything about the menu (which is fine, she's new!), but she was quite aggressive on getting us to over-order. The food at Salted Lime is very tasty, and always fresh. I have gotten the Rice Bowl with shrimp added and the shrimp is absolutely delicious, and they give a good amount! It is a fun atmosphere, versatile for weekend dinner or weekday dinner / lunch. I would recommend! read more

This place has gone down and their management seems to have forgotten restaurants are part of the customer service industry. Way too stringent seating and table limit rules, which could be understood if there was a line of others waiting, but why force customers out before entrees even arrive with half the restaurant empty? The food quality does not match the prices, and if you add in the cold pushy service, what's left to keep coming back? Manager couldn't even look us in the eye when we asked to share feedback. I was excited when I entered the restaurant. It was a nice clean spacious atmosphere very open. I went for lunch and tried the lunch special of 2 items for $14. I had a house salad and the chicken burrito. I was entertained by the label ingredients for the various sauces. When my meal arrived I was semi disappointed because I was expecting a Chipolte sized burrito. The burrito was kind of salty. First visit last night. Food was absolutely delicious! We had the birria tacos and a brisket quesadilla. Had chips and salsa and yucca fries as an app. Wayyy too much food for two people. We have enough for lunch today. My frozen margarita was strong and delicious. My only complaint is the high top chairs. The bars for your feet are so low my feet were dangling. Overall, very impressed by the food here. Came here for a late night dinner. The service was super friendly and the atmosphere was great. I'm surprised to find such a place out here which was really nice. Queso and Chorizo: Excellent, big chunks of chorizo inside the queso. It was topped with some pickled onions and scallions too. Very good for sharing. Papas Bravas: Probably the least favorite, still great though. It was just similar to the queso in terms of some of the flavors. I'd go with the queso between the 2. Tacos: We had what looks like a seasonal taco (couldn't find it on their site, but it was Vietnamese inspired). It was excellent. Tons of toppings and it was bursting out the tortilla. Super flavorful too. Churros: A must-have for dessert. They were so light and hot from the fryer. They come with a sauce too, but they're even excellent on their own.
