We ate a late lunch 2:00. When we arrived we had to wait for a booth because they were not cleaned up. Order the lunch ribeye (med), salad, and grill beans. Steak was cooked great and so was the favor. Had the Grill beans that the waitress suggested and they were good and have a smoky taste to them. Waitress was very nice and very pleasant to visit with. The first customer encounter. Is it that difficult to be pleasant and welcoming. Your attitude sets the tone for the whole dining experience. We both ordered ribeye, medium rare. They were cooked perfectly but they were the thinnest steak we'd ever seen. Took up half the plate and FULL OF GRISTLE! By the time we cut around the gristle the edible part was maybe a third of the steak. Yeah, we should have sent them back, but it was late and we had just driven 10 hours. Essentially no change in review from 5 years ago. Saltgrass is dependably good. Nothing exceptional in what they do, but reliability means a lot when you are traveling and stopping at a chain restaurant. Our server, Austin, was quite good, efficient and personable. We each had a Tito's and soda before salads, then a Dark Horse Cabernet Sauvignon with dinner. Nice pours. Our 8 oz. top sirloins were cooked rare as ordered and my wife's baked potato was nicely prepared. My asparagus was decidedly oversalted, at least for me. We planned our Mother's Day lunch ahead of time and made reservations for 2:00. We arrived just before then and weren't seated another hour. After 15-20 minutes someone (not our server) took our drink order. Another 15 minutes and our server brought them (3 were incorrect). Ten minutes later we placed our appetizer orders and ordered our meal since our things were taking so long. Appetizers came out almost 30 minutes later. Another 25 minutes and our meal came out BEFORE our salads! Three steaks were cold (two were wagyu costing $58/each), two sides were missing and one entree. We never had our drinks refilled. After 12 hours on the interstate, my wife and I needed a drink and some real chow that doesn't come in a paper box through the drive thru window. Yelp led us to Saltgrass and we are glad it did! We were sat promptly in a comfortable booth by the bar. We had the house bloody marys. They were just OK, but went down quick as we were parched from the road. We both ordered 12oz Ribeye steaks and were surprised how cheap they were. I think they were about $26 each including salad and side. Back home in Phoenix, a decent steak and salad is $50 minimum. The salads were crisp and well put together. The steaks came out perfectly cooked and they were nice cuts of meat too. We had two steak dinners and three drinks for $100 including tip. Definitely some anchovies in the recipe. Had bacon wrapped 6oz filets, both cooked perfectly. Loaded baked potatoes and asparagus rocked. Friday night they were very very busy, elected to sit at the bar instead of waiting for a table, great service, always good service when at the bar. If your coming more than once don't forget to sign up for a Landrys select rewards card. The card gives points for lots of restaurants in the group. Check it out for sure. Stopped in here super late (2100). Always fear showing up 30 minutes before close because I have worked in the food industry so I completely understand. We were greeted with a warm welcome and sat right away. Our server welcomed up and grabbed our drinks. The kids were ready to pass out but there was no pressure from our server. Good came out warm and tasty. My ribeye was cooked to perfection. Wife had the fried shrimp and loved it. Super short review this time because of being super tired on our first leg of the road trip but can recommend this spot for amazing food, even better service and no pressure whatsoever so ever! we went on Saturday 8/16 to use my birthday money from Saltgrass. The food was excellent. but the waitress BRANDI if I was giving her a rating from 1 to 5 with 5 being the best and one being the worst, she would get a one. She never came back we had to keep asking for things. The lady that was with our group asked for a second glass of wine and never received it. My husband stopped off at the restroom as we were leaving and He saw BRANDI outside the women's restroom on her phone texting. read more
