The porterhouse was cooked to a perfect medium rare as asked and was tender and flavorful. I would recommend this option. The truffle fries were just normal fries sprinkled with Parmesan and served with truffle flavored mayo. It was good, but not worth the extra three dollars. The large sampler was ok, they didn't heat the queso up for dipping enough. The range rattlers were ok, they could use more cheese. The chocolate cake was also not that good. It didn't taste too fresh, although they claim that it's homemade. The ice cream that came with it tasted watery and way too icy.(should be more creamy) The service was horrible. Our waiter kept getting distracted, messing orders up, and forgetting things. The reason it's not a 1 star for service is because the manager and other waiters worked harder than our actual waiter to bring food and check in on us. The ambience was quite nice. It was nothing special, just a regular steakhouse. The interior was lined with old signs, which I thought was unique. We love Salt Grass! It's by far the best affordable steakhouse. Their pat's ribeye is so delicious. And even though the steaks here won't break the bank they actually cook it to the desired temperature. What makes it even better the bread and butter! And each entree comes with a soup/salad and a side. I am a big fan of the baked potato soup and my wife loves the tortilla soup. My favorite side are the brussel sprouts. My work and I came here for lunch. There was a little over 30 of us. Of course, with more people there are some chaos, but despite the chaos, our waiters did a mostly good job. There was a few repeats of asking for certain drinks and napkins. But they also moved very quickly and smoothly. The food came out in a timely manner. The bread was OK compared to other steakhouse. Not pictured was a brisket and cheese and chips. That one's good. I would get this one again. Also, I really enjoyed my strawberry salad. Sadly, I was so full. I was only able to have a few bites of the tenderloin dish. Which was also very tasty. The mash potatoes under it were really good. It was almost like a beef comfort dish. It's been 15 years since I've been to a Saltgrass and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised of the outcome. Looking at the reviews it wasn't quite promising but from my experience it was very good. The food was solid, the service from Tremya was excellent and the decor feels like you're in a cabin. We decided to jump right to the main course since there wasn't anything that was eye catching on their appetizers. My partner ordered their 12oz ribeye (medium rare) along with a baked potato & chicken tortilla soup. I got their salmon with green beans and a Cesar salad. So the steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection at mid rare. It was juicy & tendered. The baked potato was simple, it had the basic butter, bacon bits, chives & cheese. It was solid. My salmon was cooked just right (medium). It was still pink and glistening on the inside but I wasn't the biggest fan of the sauce that was glazed on top of the fish. The green beans were fine but needed more seasoning. My Cesar salad was my favorite, the dressing was delicious and you can tell that they make it in house. It was so good that I had to ask for more dressing. I say for a side salad it was huge. The fresh bread that was brought out was hot & fluffy. Definitely not better than Texas Roadhouse bread but it was up there. I also ordered one of their grilled pineapple margarita. It was decent, but I wish the drink had more alcohol. It was too sweet for my liking. Overall it was a good experience from the food to the service. Idk why it took this long for me to come back but out of all the chains, salt grass definitely has better quality steaks. I don't see Outback making their steak this good. Will I come back? The salmon with broccoli was delicious. They serve hot bread prior to the meal which is great. So many restaurants have now eliminated this nice supplement to a meal. We all order the dinner salads with ranch dressing. Then both of got the Sirloin and Shrimp, one fried and one of grilled with choice of sides. The Sirloin was a slightly chewier than I would like. The Blacken Redfish - shrimp, lump crab meat, diced tomatoes, green onions, lemon butter, capers, red pepper flakes was delicious. And the desserts were great. When I first arrived there was no line / nor wait & and I had to wait for about 15 minutes before I was even greeted. Once a staff member finally approached us, it was a "greeting", just blandly "for 2". Once seated , a server didn't approach us for about another 10-12 minutes. Honestly, Saltgrass is my go-to whenever I want a non-Texas to taste what we are all about. Where else can you get a delicious quality steak for around 30 bucks? The bread and sweet butter that you are given as you wait for your food is always pure deliciousness. On many visits, I usually go for a New York Strip, or Maudeen's Center Cut Fillet. You can't go wrong with either one of these when you are in the mood for steak. We love getting the broccoli with cheese as a side. Yum! For this particular visit, we decided to order the Tenderloin Bites as an appetizer. Boy! They were so tender and delicious. I decided to change it up, and ordered a grilled Atlantic Salmon with a side of Mashed potatoes.
