Taste Kitchen + Bar (Sugar Land) has a beautiful location offering excellent southern cuisine. Their patio is spacious with a great view of a small lake and nearby walking trail. The service was prompt and attentive with friendly servers offering great descriptions of the dishes. The food was incredible especially the catfish with shrimp and dirty rice 5/5. You have the option of selecting either fried or blackened. Cocktails at Taste Kitchen are very well made making it a great place for happy hour.

Ok. After my first visit last week I enjoyed it so much I had to return the following week. So now I'm leaving a review. 1st visit was happy hour only. 2nd visit was dinner. Happy hour food: chicken wings, $1 each, must order 8 minimum. Can choose 2 of the 8 different flavors for an order of 8. Wings were crispy, flavorful & the general tso sweet/spicy was my favorite. The lamb chops, were $6 each, must order 3 minimum. The chops were terrific...medium rare, very well seasoned & tender. Some may feel they are a little small & maybe not the best value but the taste to me is undeniably wonderful. Dinner: My blackened catfish was cooked perfectly! Soft, supple well seasoned. Just good, period! The collard greens were also super tasty. Happy hour drinks: my happy hour drinks were surprisingly not made with well liquor. The drinks lean toward the sweeter side for me but once I asked for "less sweet" my lemon drop martini & side car were just fine. Service was good. Our server, Aziz, was personable & attentive. In between taking orders & serving food he was very pleasant to talk with. Food came out timely. Atmosphere: R&B music played in the background. Great playlist. We sat outside in the patio area both times overlooking the lake. Several TVs located on the patio. It's a really nice vibe. I highly recommend you give them a try.

Taste Bar was a vibe! The restaurant is right off the water and very upscale looking. They have a nice bar and outside tables off of the water. The service and food are both great. We went for the happy hour and all the food was soo good! We had a little of everything wings, okra, lamb chops, salmon, margaritas, old fashioned, lemon drops and loaded fries. I will definitely be back with my husband for a date night. The drinks were made good and tasty too!

Finally got a location on our side! I'll be brief cause if you know me, you know Taste Bar is my absolute fave. We went for happy hour for the first time and it was cool. We had the chicken wings, fire. Lamb chops, always perfect and the lobster bites which were tasty as well. I will say the cocktails could use some help though. Maybe it's just me, but the lemon drops were way too thick and sugary, could've been the syrups they used, idk. I wasn't a fan. But the hosts were super friendly and checked on us quite often which is always nice. And it's cute in there, it's smaller than the original, but they laid it out nicely. Have a resy though, it always helps to skips the wait line. Can't wait for Taco Tuesdayyyyyyyy

Visited this location twice, once inside and the other outside by the lake. There is a longer seating time for outside. Everything I've tried has been good: the burger, catfish and grits, pasta, and fries. My signature drink, Lychee Love, was made perfectly both times. All you need is one drink to feel good. Service was a bit slow both visits. I recommend placing your drink and food order at the same time. I really enjoyed this location. It is fitting for any occasion.

I stopped by Taste Bar in Sugar Land for a birthday brunch and overall had a decent experience, with some clear highlights and a few frustrations. First, having reservations definitely helped cut down the wait time, which I appreciated. However, the seating arrangement left a lot to be desired. We were placed at a table directly between two other tables that appeared to be part of the same party. It honestly felt like we were unintentionally sitting in the middle of someone else's group conversation. The noise level in the restaurant was also extremely high. Between the music and the crowd, we practically had to yell just to have a normal conversation. On top of that, because of where our table was positioned, servers and other guests constantly had to squeeze between the tables to walk through. We had to keep scooting in and adjusting our chairs to make room, which made the experience feel cramped and uncomfortable. Service was a bit slow as well. Our waitress didn't take our order until one of the neighboring tables had already finished their meal. We noticed booth seating available toward the back and asked if we could switch, but we were told those tables were reserved. Interestingly, those booths remained empty for the entire time we were there. Now for the highlight -- the food and drinks. I ordered the chicken and waffles, and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken was well-seasoned, crispy, and flavorful, while the waffle had just the right amount of sweetness to balance everything out. And the cocktail? Let's just say the bartender did not come to play. I ordered the lavender blueberry margarita, and babyyyy... that drink was STRONG. Whoever was behind the bar made sure the liquor was present. As someone who only drinks socially, one was more than enough for me. Overall, I'd say the experience was decent. The food and drinks were definitely the highlight, but the seating arrangement and service timing could use some improvement. I'd consider coming back, but hopefully next time the seating is a bit more thoughtfully arranged.

The service was excellent with the exception of one meal coming out wrong the server quickly got the food out without us having to say what was the order. It wasn't pack when we came but when we were leaving it was pack. The food was delicious! Tried almost every waffle but my favorite was the Pecan Praline. Waffles: Peach cobbler waffles-5/10 Apple waffles-9/10 Pecan Praline-10/10 Chocolate Chip-10/10 The grits were soooo good cooked to perfection and the sauce complimented each other. The drinks!!!! Whoever was the bartender needs a raise because it was perfect. We sat outside and it was a great view of the water. There's ample seating inside and out.

This place was great. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. Despite being packed, we were seated timely, served timely and food came out timely, fresh and hot. Had a chance to meet Jimmy the manager, who is a very nice man and is proud of the establishment he is running. And he should be.

I was super excited to try this place. We made reservations for 4 for Friday night. The menu was promising, the size of the crowd made you feel like it was going to be an excellent meal and experience. We were seated on time but service was super slow. We got a round of drinks and almost finished when we got appetizers. Ordered calamari and fried okra. Both were very good. We noticed the happy hour menu and wanted to order from there. It took so long to get another order in, we wanted to order another round of drinks and apps. They never brought the apps. We also ordered our food when we got our second round of drinks. Not a piece of silverware or napkins provided until after we got our entrees and had to ask for and wait for them. How would you deliver appetizers with no silverware or napkins? Latisha was our server and she was nice but they were either too busy or didn't pay attention to detail. Our food was food, I had lobster bites, they were cooked a little too long. Mac and cheese was good. I had 2 glasses of Reisling on the happy hour menu, standard wine. We got our bill and was not told about the automatic gratuity. Our fault we didn't notice but we also tipped on top of that. Very disappointed to give an 85.00 tip for 4 people on slow, incomplete service. I will not be back. We were also charged 10 for hamburger sliders we did not order. The waitress assured us we would not be charged for the other set of appetizers since we never got them. This might have been where they tried to charge for the second set of appetizers. We wanted them but they were so slow we never got them. Also, the outside was super dark, couldn't tell if they were open, lighting is really bad. They are relatively new but need to work out many more kinks before they operate successfully. I do not recommend ! Too many other places to go on a Friday night.

Was craving waffles and had a busy day so I Ordered to go to avoid Sunday crowd. After back and forth with the hostess and bartender I finally was able to get my food. Based on other reviews I knew this location was still trying to get their bearings. Luckily I checked my bag before walking out. My order was put in upside down so my pecan prailine waffles = a mess. It didn't take to long to get a replacement so no problem there. Make sure to ask in person for silverware because with two attempts I still didn't have any. Will give another try in the future.

    Oxtails & grits
    Rachel H.

I ordered oxtails & grits, it was really good seasoned well & a huge plate! They also have mocktails on their drink menu. I sat at the bar however the service was extremely slow.

Well, I came here for dinner tonight. I was hoping to sit at the patio while there are plenty of table open. When I made reservations, I did put this request as well. Then I told the hostess to see if she can check any patio seat available. She never came back. Food was ok. Our server was great. Probably will not come back again.

The atmosphere is like a mix between a cafeteria and a chill lounge, so I'd say at your favorite church after service would be a good way to describe the vibe. The service that I've received both times has been excellent! The food is good but a little inconsistent, I've been twice ordered both something I've liked along with something new, went on a Sunday evening and a Saturday afternoon. Waited the same amount of time both visits but the food on Saturday afternoon was hit or miss. I'd go again to even out the score but not rush back. Also, can't forget to add that the outdoor seating gives a nice view which adds to the experience.

Reservation options weren't available online but I imagine you can probably call ahead if need be. We came at dinner time on a Friday night and were able to get a table right away in their spacious patio. The restaurant itself is very nice inside and out and has a high end feel to it. Customer service was straight business but still ok. Between my friends and I, we saw stuff on social media and online to have a pretty good idea of what to get. I started off with a Thai beer called Singha which was nice and refreshing. My friends got different cocktails and enjoyed them, especially the lychee martini. For the table, we started off with the popular Heaven Beef. It was marinated, fried beef with sticky rice. This was indeed heavenly. The little strips of beef were so flavorful on it's own, but the sauces they provided gave it some heat plus an added layer of flavor. For entrees, we went family style and got a few different items. We saw a nearby table get the chef's special Bone-In Ribeye. It looked like a mini tomahawk but was still a generous portion. It was MKT priced which ended up being close to 90 bucks. This steak was amazing, but we felt it was a bit overpriced. For a curry dish, we went with the Panang Curry with chicken. This dish was so good. We got everything at pretty high spice levels which was the way to go. For a rice dish, we got the Garlic Shrimp Fried Rice. They know how to do fried rice here. The shrimp in it was large and plentiful. The garlic flavor was definitely there but not overpowering. For a noodle dish, we got the Pad See Ew with shrimp. Another hit. All the portions were generous. I usually never leave a Thai spot with mango sticky rice, but no room this trip. Overall, Thai Thumbz has made it high on my favorite Thai restaurants in the Greater Houston area. I will most definitely be back.
