This place never disappoints. Amazing service, great fresh seafood, welcoming ambiance. And my sister swears by the pie!

My big family (12 people) came after a funeral's service without reservation and the restaurant was extremely accommodating with making sure we have good seatings and even adjusted it for us. I got the Campechana Extra (shrimp & crab) $20 - 5/5 My mother got the mesquite grilled salmon and was highly disappointed from how dry the fish was. She didn't want to complain so she just ate it. My partner got the fried shrimp AND THAT WAS DELICIOUS! The sauce that came with it was chef's kiss. Service was top notch, I forgot his name (sorry) but none of our drinks EVER went empty! Food came out at an appropriate time. Was a great time. It wasn't too loud that I couldn't hear people, the conversation was flowing just fine.

First time here and I had an excellent experience. Our waiter was truly amazing; he was extremely accommodating and even offered to get us smaller portions of their main dishes so we could try a wider variety of items. The seafood was fresh, and everything we tried was enjoyable. I can definitely see myself coming back, especially to take advantage of their happy hour. If you enjoy seafood, the tower is absolutely the way to go.

We have been wanting to try this spot for quite some time because we live close by. Finally made it in and it was worth the wait! I love the seafood with a little TexMex/southern flair. The vibe is nice with train compartmant theme with the counter and watching the raw seafood being prepared. The only thing missing is some music. Because it is bit of small space, I definitely could hear the conversations of those around me. We ordered the crab cake, mesquite oysters, tuna medium well and red snapper with rice and fried green tomatoes as sides. Everything was fresh and delicious. The tuna steak was cooked perfectly . We finished with pecan pie and ice cream. It was a lovely dinner and our server, Andrea, was very attentive and friendly.

Decided to try this place while visiting Houston for the first time. The staff? They were great, loved the interactions we had with everyone who visited our table. The ambiance was nice, felt very diner (a little weird for a seafood place, but no other complaints!) The food was delicious! Fresh and full of flavor. I had the shrimp étouffée and my husband has the red fish, we also shared the fried green tomatoes. No complaints at all. We will definitely come back when we visit Houston again!

    Happy hour menu

We were looking for a seafood restaurant in Houston and I had seen that @goodcoseafood has a good happy hour. Please note that happy hour is only limited to the seating in the bar area. Hubby and I both had the Watermelon Mezcal Margarita and Dad had Lemonade. We all shared the Blue Crab, Corn. and Poblano Bisque. It was very tasty with a touch of heat. Hubby had the Fried Oyster BLT Slider, which was served with chips. We also shared The Pearl Seafood Tower. Plenty and just enough food to fill our bellies. It had gulf oysters, shrimp cocktail, campechana smoked redfish dip, and crab claws. Everything was delish and a steal for happy hour. I highly recommend the happy hour!

Cool location and good seafood. Service and atmosphere: This is very cool looking restaurant with part of it looking like a train wagon. The inside was spacious, clean, well organised and decorated. Ask for a table in the train wagon area which also includes full bar. The service staff were friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Food and drinks: They offer very good selection of various foods. You can opt for grilled, fried and fresh seafood. You can order soups, salads, and variety of plates. All dishes were well presented, made with fresh ingredients. Good seasonings and taste. I recommend the shrimp and lobster cocktail and fried green tomatoes for starters. The restaurant serves many alcoholic beverages too. Pricing: $$/$ - two people dinner with starter, mains, and three drinks came to around $130.

This ceviche was okay! It has a very sweet twang to it. I wish there was more crab, but I loved the fresh avocado. The chips were hot and fresh. The stuffed combo was very sub par given the competition out there for it. I figure while visiting home, I'd love to try more staples such as Goode company, which is an institution to some. I certainly appreciated that the interior has its on dive sort of flair rather than a run of the mill look. If I return, I'd love to know what some good can't-miss suggestions are.

    Happy Hour Fried Crab Fingers
    Sylvie F.

WOW was I happy to find out they had crab fingers today. After picking my brother up at the airport we headed straight here. Not only do I love fried crab fingers, but so does my brother. He was so happy to eat here again! We ordered two platters of fried crab fingers, their yummy onion rings, and sautéed spinach...I know I threw in a healthy side, since everything else was fried. The food was so good! Service was stellar too. A great start for our Sunday...can't wait to return!

We had dinner here on Sunday 3/30 around 4pm as we wanted seafood and the cool train exterior caught our eyes as we drove by. The reviews were also great so we had high hopes. It's built inside an old Amtrak train carriage and the inside feels like a lovely diner. Our server was very nice but it was only her second day on the job and she was not very familiar with the menu. Since we both wanted oysters and the mesquite grilled oysters sounded amazing we decided to order a couple of them. When it arrived, it looked very impressive and I was pretty excited to dig in. Unfortunately, it was not good at all and all I could taste was the overly strong romano cheese. Could not taste any garlic or herb butter at all and ended up dousing the oysters in hot sauce to get some flavor. We also ordered the fried catfish platter that came with an empanada, garlic bread, and seasoned fries. The catfish was bland and really needed seasoning. Empanada was pretty dry and did not even taste like an empanada at all. The seasoned fries were I credibly salty and I got tired of dusting the salt off of each fry. It was such a disappointing meal:( Hubby and I both agreed how our local fast food fish restaurant back home has much better food at half the cost. Not sure how this place has such good reviews.

    Onion Rings
    Charlene H.

We came by for Good Friday lunch. We enjoyed the meal and service was efficient. I felt the bisque was too rich but everything else was tasty. The onion rings were really good. The side onion rings and the appetizer onion rings are different products. Both are good but the app option were better in my opinion. The poboys were good although being from Louisiana it's disappointing to have so few shrimp on a Poboy. The Texas sheet cake was delicious but not Texas sheet cake in size...think the thin rich sheet cake.

There's a funny story behind the restaurant. I believe there are two brothers both missing one leg opposite of each other (see the pic). We had 2 orders of grilled oysters as it sounded amazing and the fried catfish platter. The catfish was good but was not a fan of the grilled oysters as they don't really have any flavor other than cheese. We also tried their BBQ next day and it was pretty good. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend their BBQ over the seafood.

The 6 of us who could hardly stomach the salmon.

It also felt like a third space of sorts, because I was hanging out with a well connected friend, and everyone who came in was a who's who of the Houston restaurant/nightlife scene, and gathered for what turned out to be an unplanned hang out. They were hosting a vinyl swap night, so folks were coming in to peruse the many boxes of vinyls, and a DJ spun classic r&b tunes. I hear that on some nights they make space for a dance floor so people can show off their best two step in the space. The drinks were great and well priced but the wine selection is what got me. I was told they were inspired by Japan's many vinyl listening bars-- having been to many across Japan as well as many NYC imitators, this place actually impressively comes close. Regarding the food, the Frisée Salad was pretty good, well dressed and flavorful. The chicken sandwich was okay. The batter was crispy and flaky but it had no flavor. What made it a lot better was the coleslaw that brought a great deal of tang and moisture. The steak was not quite for me. It came on a bed of sauce that was flavorful with fresh veggies but it did not go well with the steak. Perhaps chicken would've suited better. The steak itself was dry and quite chewy. For dessert we had the carrot cake tres leches which was decent. The carrot cake flavor was there but the moisture from the cake was not fully spread in the cake. Overall nothing here was bad but with the plethora of restaurants in the Houston area I can't justify recommending or returning.

The food didn't take long to come out and was so darn good. It was probably one of the best steak nights I've had in a while. We had the ribeyes, mash potato, mac and cheese, green beans, and French fries. The steak was seasoned perfectly and grilled to the perfect temperature to my liking. Basically every server upstairs told me it was their favorite salad. The bacon was thhiicccckkkk! For my second course, I got the 22 oz. bone-in ribeye for a $30 charge (normally $85 on the dinner menu), topped with truffle butter for an additional $9. I also ordered a side of potato au gratin, which isn't on the HRW menu, but I love potatoes and wanted something to eat with the steak. The ribeye was cooked to perfection with a really nice char. Third course was dessert. I went with the New York cheesecake with compressed graham cracker. The cheesecake itself was good, though I thought the graham cracker could have been a little crunchier.
