On March 30, 2021, my husband and I wanted to eat at home and work on our business projects. We decided on a meal from Saltgrass Steakhouse Lafayette, Louisiana. I placed an order to pick up curbside, I am a very meticulous person, particularly with food orders in restaurants. I have a food allergy, so I must always be precise on the preparation. I was exact on what and how I wanted the order as always. The meal ticket and food photos I have added to this post show what I ordered..and what I got. I immediately called the restaurant with my total disappointment with the food. From getting chicken fried (steak) instead of chicken fried chicken- to my husband's overcooked-charred steak. This was how the conversation went. I spoke with Matt- restaurant manager, I let him know I just picked up my meal by curbside 1 hour ago. I asked him to look at the ticket, he then said to just tell him. I let him know I ordered a chicken fried chicken, I got chicken fried steak. It was also cold and my husband said it tasted bad. As he thought he could eat it in place of his own disastrous meal. My husband's ribeye meal was worse. I ordered his steak a little over medium. It was charred with a dark pink hue in the center. Not what I've seen from a decent steakhouse. So I simply told Matt, I want my meal refunded. He told me: " It is our policy to NEVER refund money." I can give you a $40 dollar gift card. I again told him I had no interest in a meal replacement. The restaurant got my meal wrong, the overall quality was poor and substandard. He then said he would call his GM. I found her name is Kristi Lachley. He called me back to say that she advised him that (we-the restaurant), will not be refunding you money. That to take the gift card. I took that to be insulting and offensive. As I exhausted all options to get my money refunded, I then reached out to the owner of this restaurant. He is a very well known man with corporations worldwide- Mr. Tillman Fertitta/ multi-billionaire. Mr. Fertitta's mission statement is simple- accountability and to always provide outstanding customer service and satisfaction. His mission statement was completely lost in the people he entrusted to this restaurant. I was treated quite badly so I decided that it is important to expose my terrible experience publicly. I'm sure I am not the only person given such a poor restaurant experience. I am still quite saddened with this restaurant's policy as it was told to me by the Manager. " It is the policy of Saltgrass Steakhouse to never refund money to customers." This means Mr. Fertitta contradicts his own words of how he values customer service. So I had a craving for a good steak and decided to give Saltgrass Steak House a try. Apparently it was a good decision. The food was excellent. I had the NY Strip Steak and it was cooked perfect and was delicious. I had the privilege of meeting the manager because he actually brought my food to me. The service was fantastic and the bartender was very attentive to everyone's needs. The ambiance was great too. It was not overly loud in there and there was ample amounts of seating space. I recommend Salt Grass Steak House for your next steak. You won't be disappointed. read more

Food is good, but service is trash. This chick got the nerve to ask me my opinion on two rap chicks (ice spice or mulato or whatever) but can't even get my order right. I ordered two 3 burger sliders and I get home I only have a 3 burger slider in one box and only 2 in the other. Then I call back to tell them their mistake and the "manager" offers to refund me for my missing slider. A refund isn't gonna fill my stomach fam! That's trash. Get some better quality workers who are focused on providing good service and ensuring my order is correct! Love the decor in there, you know you are in a steak house when you come here! We had the following: - Texas Tea - super strong as hell.. I was drunk before we started eating! - Bacon wrapped quail - quail breast & legs stuffed with jalapeño cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, finished with sriracha honey, served with brussel sprouts - very, very delicious! The sweetness of the honey went so perfect with the saltiness of the bacon and quail - Prime rib - herb crusted & slow roasted for a minimum of 10 hours, we got the smothered toppings (caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms) w/ garlic mash potatoes & baked sweet potatoes - prime rib was delicious, but nothing special compared to other steak places Overall, not a bad place to take the family to go eat. read more

Excellent place to eat! It's Valentine's Day and we arrived at 5:00, we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was sap wonderful, she was very informative and gave the best recommendations. We had the stuffed quail wrapped in bacon for an appetizer. I ordered the most delicious piña colada I have ever tasted. She brought out bread and took our order. I had the prime rib and the smoked cheddar mac n cheese. Both very good. And for dessert I had the brownie skillet. My husband and I shared it and it would have shared with two others. Nice portions. Tonight I decide to take a monthly break from keto. I order cheese fries, ribeye, fully loaded baked potato, and mac and cheese. I start eating the mac & cheese and bite into a nickel size piece of glass that cuts my tongue and gum. Swallowing my own blood, I call over the waiter and tell him I need the manager. Manager looks at the glass says, "yeah that's from the dish we prepare the mac & cheese in". Takes my phone number and name. I say I want those remaining items taken off of the list pointing to potato and mac & cheese. He says "yeah I was already going to do that!" NEVER ASKS ABOUT THE INJURY, IF I'M OK, no offer to decline payment, never returns. I get an edited bill for the items I've eaten already from the waiter. The glass was thin and sharp, would have cut, like a thin spall that would have cut me open inside if I had swallowed, internal injuries requiring surgery most likely. Wound up paying the bill and walking out. I don't know if I need stitches or not. Not an enjoyable evening and the next few meals will be painful for sure. I've always like SaltGrass, we've eaten at Bossier, Katy-Tx (multiple times), and Amarillo, anytime we got the chance. Never again. Sometimes you'd like to know it's not only always about the $$, it's about people and caring about each other. A good manager understands the human element. And people are what matters. read more

Been here a few times now and since the first visits were not stellar I held off before offering a review. First. The atmosphere. The place is pleasant, warm and inviting. The hostess was polite but the servers are fairly young so when your asking for help with a wine selection it's almost like asking my 22 year old what's a good selection. Many other high end steak and seafood restaurants outdo them by a mile in this area. The food was good but nothing was great. The best dishes in my opinion are the blackened red fish and the baby back ribs. Both I would give a solid 4 stars. The filet was good but was a little over cooked and just lacking. Not sure if it was seasoning or ?? The chicken fried steak is huge, in fact it looks like a small pizza. The flavor was good and I liked the gravy but there was really a lot of breading and too much for me. The grilled shrimp were good too. Most meals come with a salad and also free bread for the table which was nice. There are many places I dine at around Louisiana and throughout the states. I leave here feeling like the food was maybe a touch above something like Applebee's or chili's but it's at a factor of 2x what those other places cost and I'm not seeing the value. The $21.50 baby backs and shrimp was 4 ribs and 4 shrimp. I was really expecting 6 to 10 shrimp and a rack, or at least 1/2 a rack but it wasn't a lot of food for the price. It was a nice change of pace but my gut tells me this place is going to battle some fierce competition in the area in the food vs price value. Terrible. Steak was cooked opposite of what we ordered. Cook was aggressive and brought back a second steak that was an even worse cut and still visibly over cooked- to the point you could barely cut it. So rude. I'll start off with the good parts. The place is clean and well kept. It's a peaceful atmosphere. The staff is friendly and our waitress was a very lovely young lady. Now to get to the negative feedback. This place is way over priced for very mediocre ..possibly even crappy food. The menu doesn't have many choices. Portion sizes are child size and they use enough salt to make sure your blood pressure won't be low for at 24 hours. I guess they really live by their name. I've never had a crunchy bbq rib until tonight. I'm guessing over cooked or left out too long and just reheated. I was highly disappointed in this place. Definitely will not be going back. Just left, never had anyone come to seat us after 5 minutes of waiting at the front kiosk, and no, they were not busy at all. I even had staff look at me standing there. I asked waiter to bring another steak -that this was overcooked. The cook came out and wanted to make sure I understood and he understood what I was ordering. We had a group of nine last night with reservations for 7pm. The restaurant was very busy and on a 75 minute wait. They lost lots of business as people walked in and out when they learned of the wait time...I stop counting at 20 people who left during my 15 minute wait!! I was pleased we only had to wait 15 minutes for our table. The service was five stars but the food was a three. We ordered Ribeye's, the night's filet mignon special, grilled salmon salads, etc so a variety of the menu items. All of our food was very flavorful but COLD. The main entree and especially the side items. I asked for cheddar cheese to be whipped within my garlic mash potatoes, which I didn't received when my plate arrived and when I pointed it out to the person who delivered our food she promptly returned with a side of cheese. Well, the potatoes were TOO cold to melt the cheese and moreover, you want the cheese melted on top the potatoes not eating cold shredded cheese on top of cold potatoes! The experience was not bad even I would not return but it does make you appreciate Ruth Chris more which is more expensive but the food is alway popping hot. That's the only thing missing from this Saltgrass location. I am giving them grace since the restaurant recently opened and will return to see if things are better then make a final determination on future business and recommendations. read more
