I have been going to Saltgrass Steak Houses ever since living in the Northern Virginia area. When it opened up in New Braunfels, I was excited!! My husband and I come here at least monthly. Service is always great when we visit. We order, the majority of the time, the Pat's Ribeye with salad, or I might order the Maudeen's Filet. As far as appetizers go, we go for the Fried Mushrooms or the Bourbon Glazed Bacon. They do have a lunch special, which is nice on the wallet. Also noteworthy is that they are part of the Landry's Select Club. So if you are eating at Brenner's, Joe's Crap Shack, Landry's, Bubba's Shrimp, Morton's, etc, be sure to sign up for their Landry's Select Club loyalty membership. read more

Our family had an early dinner at Saltgrass yesterday. Not sure how they've all been before and I haven't, but this was my first time. What a joy this was! We walked in at around 4:35 and we were seated immediately - no mean feat for a group of 7. Brianna, our waitress, was absolutely superb. Attentive and helpful, and the food was delicious. Their fried onion starter is spectacular - imagine how good Jim's onions used to be, but there were even better. Fried to perfection and seasoned perfectly. Delicious fried mozzarella made an excellent accompaniment. Washed down with a tall Shiner blonde? Don't mind if I do. I had a New York strip (rare) with sweet potato fries (hot and delicious, shoestring cut and well seasoned), wife had a chicken fried steak (huge and delicious - move over Little Red Barn) with mashed potatoes and gravy. I also opted to top my steak with garlic butter and mushrooms and they added a perfect extra hit of flavor. All in, I think our bill, including my daughter's patty melt, two sweet teas, and my two beers - always expensive but so worth it - came to around a hundred bucks. Honestly worth every penny. I don't usually review chain restaurants, but on occasion I do. Saltgrass has become our go-to every Thanksgiving with my boyfriend and his mother. She lives in a retirement community now so it's easier to go out and to find a place that's close. Last year we went to the San Marcos location and this year New Braunfels which is actually closer to where she lives. This location is smaller but the service was still good as was the food. They were absolutely packed on Thanksgiving Day and I am glad we had reservations. The food came out quick, hot, and tasty. For as busy as it was, the service we received didn't suffer. We will be back at this location again next year and looking forward to it. read more

We hadn't been to this location before and were pleasantly surprised. We were seated right away, and our waiter came and took our order quickly. We were served food pretty quickly as well. I appreciated that the manager explained their grilled chicken breast was marinated in something not definitely gluten-free, so they'd have to substitute chicken tenders for the sandwich, but it was still really good. We were staying at the Marriott next door and walked over for dinner. It was busy but we were seated quickly. Our server realized she had forgotten to put in our order and apologized right away. The manager also came by to apologize and offered a complimentary dessert. Their kindless & accountability was impressive.. I absolutely hate to have to update my review from a five star to a 1 star but I'm having trouble processing my last three times coming here. Don't get me wrong, the waitresses have great. My girl-friends and I decide to come here for lunch at least once a month. The first occasion with one of my girlfriend around two months ago, the food came out not as she ordered so she made a comment saying that she would send it back. She didn't, but as she was saying that, the waitress overheard her and may have mentioned something to the manager. During that visit, we watched the manager walk around to the surrounding tables, asking them how their meal was as their food came out. Not once did he come to our table and ask us anything. We thought it was weird, but for our next monthly lunch date, we decided to come here once again. The same manager who had worked during our last lunch date was there. We both looked at each other and said "I wonder if he will stop by our table today and ask us how our meals are". Well, he didn't! Like the last time, he asked all the tables around us, and even sat and conversed with an older couple for a while, while they pointed out something that was wrong with their meal to him. Today, I went in with a different friend and the same manager is working. The same thing happened to where there was a table that was next to ours that he walked up to and asked them about their meal and did not come by our table. I'm the last one to try to bring up race in anything, but this third time was the charm. It has made me feel that because of our skin color, the manager did not care to come by our table and ask us how we were enjoying our meal. This is very disappointing because I frequent Landry restaurants often and this is the first time this has ever happened and especially sad because this is one of the newer restaurants in town that I frequent but after today's experience and considering never returning. read more

The waiter was polite and made sure we were taking great care of. Even the manager checked in with us. I have a bad allergy to seafood and they made sure my food was kept safe for me. It's hard to go out and eat but if you're like me, Saltgrass is a great place to go. I had the filet and my husband had a t-bone. We also had mushrooms too. We did not have any reservations and our party of five got sat pretty fast. I asked the bartender to make me a good margarita. The mango margarita was amazing. We were seated, and Elizabeth was our server and she was great from the beginning to the end and constantly checked on us to make sure everything was good. The food was amazing. I hate to leave a one star review, but I ordered my steak medium, but it got brought out medium well and the steak was absolutely dry. The service was not good a lot of information was left out. And then our waitress says she was gonna bring us bread and never brought us the bread. A fly was left in my brother's drink that was great that was noticed after he drank have of it. My mother ordered her second margarita she didn't receive it until 2 minutes before we left. And then she was gonna mention us about rewards never mentioned that. Also the waitress barely checked up on us, she didn't even check up on us after we got our food which was 20 minutes later. My parents still left a 50 dollar tip because that's the kind of people they are. So all in all was a terrible experience hopefully next time will be much more improved and better. read more

Saltgrass is the newest addition to New Braunfels steak houses and currently my favorite. I've tried the sirloin, the ribs, 6 oz filet and all have been cooked exactly as I ordered. The entrees come with a salad and a side there are about 7 sides to choose from- I've tried fries(always crispy) mashed potatoes ( try loaded, they are buttery) or green beans( quick fried, toasty ). I pay the extra charge for the wedge salad as it's a nice big crunchy salad with bacon bits and generous blue cheese chunks and dressing, one of the best in town. If you have room, get a dessert . I've tried the carrot cake, which was delicious, a large slice that 3 of us shared. Same with the chocolate cake. Have yet to try the cheesecake but I'm sure it is every bit as good as the cakes. Servers have always been easygoing and check in on you to make sure everything is to your liking. On the website you can RSVP which I would recommend no matter what day. I've gone in on a weekday and it was packed. The lunch and early dinner menu with lower prices runs from 11AM-6PM. It is a limited menus but there is still a good selection and the steaks ( sirloin and fillet) are a good price. You can even get a fillet with shrimp for a good discount. If you really enjoy this steakhouse think about joining Landry's Select Club. It cost $25 year, but you will have $25 deducted off your 1st bill. You then collect points each time you eat out and will accumulate another $25 discount when you spend $250. On your birthday you get a $25 reward as well. There are several other establishments and events that you can get discounts or rewards that use the Landry's Select Card. I've been satisfied with the club membership , since my family eats here at least every other month. If you live in New Braunfels be on the lookout for Saltgrass coupons for free dessert or appetizers that was in a local magazine. I do have to agree with what another Yelper said, it is very ,very loud in the restaurant . I don't find it bothersome but my husband was very aware of the noise and felt he had to talk loud to be heard. Either way I just love eating here. read more

We were seated quick, waitress would disappear for long periods of time, ordered a burger wife ordered the patty melt food came out burger was not cooked as ordered toast was burnt on the patty melt a lead or supervisor came by to apologize and offered a free desert for our troubles. Waitress brought out my burger again and it was done to perfection. As we finished up our meal Jose the manager came by and continued to apologize and was very polite and told us he had taken care of our meals. Salt Grass has a fantastic happy hour! We've been twice recently with a group of 14-18 people and have been quite comfortable sitting out in the patio area. The value for money during happy hour is really good, with several large size appetizers starting at $5. Some of our favorites have been the onion straws, fried mushrooms, brisket queso with chips, and range rattles (fried jalapeño stuffed with shrimp & cheese). Surprisingly (since this is a steak house) I can't recommend the tenderloin bites - they were overcooked and grisly when we ordered them cooked to medium temp). The cocktail specials are great with the White Cosmo and the Pomegranate Mojito being our favorites! Service was really good on our first visit and just ok on our 2nd visit - but the prices and drinks will keep us coming back. read more

I feel like the tables are crammed in there so you hear lots of people conversations and the servers are trying to get and out tight spaces. In addition, they had music playing and it was songs with words which made the loudness worse. Background music would have been better if it was instrumental. Drinks is what saves this place. All the drinks we tried were wonderful. I had the grilled and fried shrimp with asparagus. It was good. Hubs and his friend had their burger and they said it was ok. Excellent customer service. We had a birthday party with 20 people. A reservation was made. Our table was ready and waiting for us. The wait team was very organized - no mistakes made. Very pleasant.
