I heard about this place and wanted to go try it out. You walk in and WOW! This is the coolest designed cafe I have ever seen. Gorgeous greenhouse windows and tons of plants and open space. I love how there is so much available seating and the bar to order is right at front. I got a toasted matcha latte (which the barista said it's basically just a hojicha latte). The matcha is a wonderful balance of sweetness and toastiness. It's a bit pricey at $7 for a small, but the small is still a decent size and the location, flavor, and friendliness of the staff make it worth. I'll definitely be coming here often! read more

I was not a huge fan of the Churro Latte. It lacked the cinnamon flavor that most Churro Lattes have and it tasted watered down. It looks like the only cinnamon flavoring came from the sprinkled cinnamon on top of the drink. The Eggs Benedict were also okay. Nothing special with the sauce. The dish also does not come with any sides. Overall, I do not think I will come back here again any time soon. The freshly whisked matcha was perfectly sweetened with their housemade strawberry watermelon syrup ~ not overly sweet at all. Wow! Moongoat is right across from the Marriott hotel, where I was staying. It opens early which was perfect for me, an early riser. The restaurant is located in a cute area with office building and gorgeous western courtyard that you can take your meal to go and eat out in or on their patio. I am a matcha lover. I get a matcha where ever and whenever I can at breakfast. This hot matcha latte was perfection!!!!! The milk to matcha ratio was on point and was just the right level of warmer to sooth the soul, and not burn your mouth. Add on the beautiful design and you have a lovely way to start any day. I ordered the delux avocado toast which came with a hard boiled egg, bacon and arugula on top. It incredible was fresh tasting. It would have used a bit of black pepper and salt but over all delicious. Came here for brunch and ordered a matcha latte, hojicha latte, lox bagel, and a turkey sandwich. Loved how friendly the servers were, they were helpful in answering any questions I had too. This is probably one of the coolest and best-executed cafe concepts in OC. The Greenhouse blows most other coffee shops away in terms of ambiance. The space is well-decorated and the greenhouse vibe is well-executed, without having the cons of an actual greenhouse (aka, heat & humidity). It's well-designed with a decent amount of seats that are spread out enough for patrons to feel comfortable. As for the coffee, Moongoat offers pretty solid coffee and I've never had issues with their product. I usually prefer stronger espresso but that's my personal taste. The menu is pretty standard for OC/LA coffee shops. Parking is available in the plaza across the street. I believe the free time limit is two hours, which may not be ideal for some, but I can understand wanting to get people in-and-out in a reasonable amount of time. There is free Wi-Fi that has been reliable in my experience. Not every table has an outlet, but there are some available. read more

More than anything what I noticed was there is SO much room to study/work. This place seems perfect for college students, meetings, etc. There is a gorgeous 'greenhouse' high glass ceiling. It feels like you are in an arboretum. There is extensive seating much room to study (inside and outside)! Parking is validated when you pay, so don't worry about paying to park. The atmosphere is so cool inside, it's in a greenhouse as the name implies but the way it's set up perfectly compliments the housing. He got the vanilla latte while I got the churro latte. He liked his, but I wish I went for something in the matcha section. I love this cafe so much. It's super cute, so much seating, such a great atmosphere. I love their Matcha and their food. Huge place too. And employees are very friendly and knowledgeable :) My only issue is that the last couple of times I've been there, they have not asked me if I wanted my food and drink for here or to go and so I got everything packed up when I was intending to eat it there. The last time I had friends with me and all of their food was put on a plate and mine was all packed up in a box, with my portion looking smaller than what the visual was. It felt weird to be eating out of a box when everyone else was eating on plates. My drinks have also been put in to go cups when I was intending to drink them at the café. They also didn't ask my friend if she wanted hot or iced and she got iced when she wanted hot. These little questions matter. Every time I've come this place has been packed- doesn't matter what time of the day or day of the week, the people love a good open, airy coffee shop. And the interior makes up for it all. Plenty of different types of seating! (big tables, comfy chairs, high tables, etc) The drinks, however, awful. Taste like watery milk. I've gotten the masala chai latte and it was so watery, I never drank it. I've also gotten the matcha (iced and HOT) and it was so mid. You can add sweetener but then it just makes it taste so fake. Idk why everything just taste watery. Parking is across the street and only for 2 hours which is a real bummer. I had coffee plans with my friends and we decided to come here. This location of MoonGoat Greenhouse is in Costa Mesa in the South Coast Metro area. They have a small parking lot in front of the café for 20 minute parking for quick pick ups. If you plan on staying longer, they have 2-hour validation for the parking structure across the street. Upon entering I found that this location was spacious with a very modern artsy layout. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor parking. You can order with staff or at their kiosks. One cool thing was how they had plants all around and they were all available for purchase if you would like to adopt a plant. I had their Deluxe + Egg Avocado Toast ($15) and a Large Iced Matcha Latte ($6.75) less sweet. The drinks are prepared really quickly. I thought my matcha latte was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. The matcha was really good too. The deluxe + egg avocado toast comes with a boiled egg sliced up, crispy bacon, balsamic, and herb oil. It was cut in half. I'm all for finger food but it fell apart a bit so it needed a fork to help me eat without everything spilling. It tasted really good and I'm so happy they served food because I was so hungry. My friends ordered hot lattes and they were served in mugs, which we appreciate. Coffee tastes better in a mug than paper cups. It also had cute latte art. They both enjoyed the lattes they ordered and we had a great time catching up. The vibes here are great for students studying, getting some work done, or catching up with friends. I have seen this spot all over media, but what really brought me here was OC Restaurant Week! We saw their Restaurant Week menu online, and decided to give it a try. They had 2 separate menus for Restaurant Week, one that was $25 and another at $30. The only difference is you an affogato at the end of the meal. We ended up getting one of each. Of the options, here is what we ordered: $25 Menu: Cold Brew: Normal cold brew. They have sweeteners and such on the side if you would like to adjust. Chicken Lettuce Wraps: These were delicious! It comes with 3 wraps and a side of sauce. They chicken was moist and the lettuce was fresh and crispy. Side sauce was a bit spicy, almost like a chili oil? Not the traditional lettuce wrap, but definitely a great starter. Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup: The grilled cheese here was one of my favorites! It was nice and crispy, but not hard. Cheese was perfectly melted with a good pull to it. Soup was average and we did not make too much of a dent in it other than to dip the grilled cheese. $30 Menu: Iced Tea: Regular unsweetened ice tea, again adjustable on your own with the sugars and such they have on the side Roasted Carrots: carrots were a bit too soft for my liking. It was a bit sweeter than expected, but still good cinnamon flavor to it. Wish it had a bit more char to it though Cuban Sandwich: was very soft and moist, unlike a lot of other dry sandwiches I have had in the past. I would say it was a bit too peppery for me. Did not eat the entire thing because of it. Vanilla Affogato: The ice cream in this was sooo good! They did pour over a hot shot of espresso and it melted the ice cream, making it so creamy and delicious. I am not the biggest espresso fan, but this one was good!! Wish they had a matcha option. Matcha Latte: Ordered the smallest size of this on the side with vanilla syrup in it. Felt like it was a bit pricey for the size and flavor was just average. Nothing too special abut this one. After our meal, we hung out and got some work done. It is a beautiful workspace with a ton of glass and seating. Did not seem to crowded today, so there were plenty of open seats, most of them with chargers nearby in case you needed a quick charge. I would have to say that parking here is difficult. It is in a business complex and the spots right in front are only 20 minutes. Located just across the main South Coast Mall, the Moongoat Greenhouse location is settled just off the main road with a small lot (would say maybe around 10 ish parking spots). The interior is, as everyone says, beautiful. Lots of natural light from the windows/glass, cozy with all the plants -- it is the perfect place for a cup of coffee over a meeting with friends or to a quiet moment to get some work done. Got both the hot latte with 2% milk (12 oz) and iced latte with 2% milk + house made vanilla (12 oz). The house made vanilla was good, nothing special but did not have that artificial, alcohol-y taste you sometimes get from the store bought syrups. The drinks, however, tasted more milk than espresso forward. Not my personal preference but if you like your drinks on the milkier side this is probably better suited for your tastes. The flavor of the espresso was fine but I personally would have preferred to add a min additional shot or two for a more coffee forward taste, even with just the plain latte. read more

The orange matcha isn't the best flavor combination but that may be due to personal preferences. I will say the pricing isn't worth it for the amount of oz offered compared to other cafes. I love to come here to do work as there are lots of seating and free WiFi. No outlets available or at least few available if I didn't see any. It's also not ideal since you have to pay for parking at the parking garage if there is none available in front of the cafe, which is limited time. Service is great. Such a cute spot! I'm visiting from SF and my friend brought me here for breakfast. Parking in front is limited, but there's a parking structure right across the street. I felt like I was walking into an actual greenhouse! This cafe is spacious, has lots of seating, although I heard it can get pretty packed here. I came at 11am on New Year's Day, and there was no line and we were able to get a table. Food also came out very fast! I ordered the Bahn Mi, which came with chips ($18). The sandwich was delicious! I typically don't get bahn mis unless I'm at a Viet spot, so this was more of like an Americanized version with juicy and thick bacon inside! I give it a 7/10 simply bc I usually get these for like $12 or less and with different meat. Regardless, very delicious, and kept me full. The orange matcha is not what I would typically get, but it was also good! I got it with oat milk and it didn't make the matcha too thick, which was nice. Tropical Maypop Caturra Pour Over - Strong fruity aroma and flavor. This was recommended by the barista but unfortunately wasn't our favorite. Personal preference! 2. Iced Orange Matcha with Cold Foam - Sweet but also refreshing! 3. Breakfast Bagel Sandwich - Bacon, egg, cheese, and arugula on an everything bagel. Simple but hearty. Loved finally checking out MoonGoat Greenhouse after already being a fan of their other coffee shops. This location definitely has a different vibe though where it feels like a modern, cool cafeteria mixed with a coffee shop. Super open, airy, and really family friendly with a ton of outdoor space for kids to run around. The service was also really friendly, which made the experience even better. The matcha was really good and so was the iced latte. Just a heads up on parking: the lot directly in front of the building is only 20-minute parking, and the main lot across the street is paid parking.
