Our group decided to order 5 kinds and share to be able to taste the different flavors. We got the creme brulee, sakura lychee, original, strawberry, and hazelnut chocolate. The creme brulee was our favorite of them all. I'd say the second favorite was the sakura lychee, then the strawberry and hazelnut chocolate. Staff warned me that the souffle pancakes take a long time to make so I put in an order of Crème Brulee Souffle Pancakes ($15) first. I also ordered the Shrimp Croquette ($7), Takoyaki ($8), and Ebi Fry ($8.50). When the crème brulee souffle pancake came out I remember thinking it was small. More of a snack than a meal. The crème brulee topping slid off when you cut into it. The sauce tasted like raw eggs and lacked that char with crème brulees. When I checked on the other items I ordered, the kitchen was still working on it so I asked them to pack it togo. Staff should understand that people who come during their lunch hour might have time limitations. They were really nice, but maybe just not aware. I tried the appetizers when I got home. The potatoes came out right away and it was good to snack while waiting. My drink was Hojicha Latte and my daughter's drink was Oreo Ice Dalgona. The star of the dish, Strawberry Mascarpone Soufflé Pancakes came out about 45 minutes later. Took us probably less than 10 minutes to finish it. Their Soufflés Pancakes were definitely very soft, fluffy, and jiggly. My daughter and I agreed that theirs were better than Burnt Crumbs. However, it's not worth the weekend wait. Overall, the food was good but the wait might not be worth it. Granted they are still new but like all new restaurants, everyone wants to try it. If you come when it's busy, there is a lot of outdoor seating where you can eat if you take it "to go". I visited on a weekday morning and there was no wait to be seated; there were many open tables. Otherwise my visit was disappointing. Instead of warm and jiggly, they were room temperature and soft but not the proper texture. You can tell that they use fresh and quality oil to deep fry the croquettes. Mixed Berry French Toast- 4.5/5 it came with ice cream and the French toasts tasted like Boloniya, iykyk. Fruits were fresh. Benedict Pancakes - 4/5 you can do 1/2 and 1/2 on the Benedict, so we got bacon and avocado. It was fresh and the eggs were poached perfectly. This Gram Cafe & Pancakes location in Irvine is part of a Japan-based franchise and I'm glad I live really closeby! While the soufflé pancakes aren't quite as perfectly jiggly and delicious as they are in Japan, it's still definitely the closest I've found yet in the USA - so I'm still happy to have a real Japanese pancake place in Irvine, even if it's not quite like Flippers in Tokyo, etc. The chicken karaage was absolutely delectable, with super awesome pieces of clean and tasty chicken, seasoned so incredibly well, and a spectacular dipping sauce as well, plus a nice lemon wedge for some wet flavor as well. I think this is the best chicken karaage in the USA that I've tried as well! The wagyu pancakes dish was too heavy for me, and next time, I'd get something else like maybe the chilled souffle pancakes or maybe the matcha or strawberry souffle pancakes. I'd love to try the curries once they're available as well. There's a waitlist so I'd recommend allotting up to an extra 30 min to 1 hour just to be able to get in and sit at a table. Got here at 9:45 for the soft opening 10am open and were thankfully the last party to be seated in the first wave. Parties after were definitely quoted around a 45 minute wait so I suggest coming 20 minutes early (or more) to avoid that. All the servers and staff were super nice. He walked us through the menu, including pointing out some favorites and didn't rush any of the conversation or any of my many questions :) Note: I would pass on the hot coffee, curious about the cold drinks though, just wasn't in the mood today! Gram Cafe is a solid 3.5 star spot with a really nice atmosphere, but the food was a bit hit or miss. I tried the hazelnut chocolate and crème brûlée soufflé pancakes, and while they were good, they didn't quite live up to the hype. The hazelnut flavor was pretty subtle, and there was a noticeable egg smell that took away from the overall experience. On the other hand, the chicken karaage was a standout super flavorful with an amazing aroma and definitely something I'd order again. I also got the honeycomb latte, which was fun to try, especially with the candy on top, but it leaned a bit too sweet for my taste. The cafe itself is very aesthetically pleasing, and the staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the visit enjoyable overall. read more

We were in Tokyo last December and we've been craving soufflé pancakes and Gram Cafe made us feel like we were back in Japan. We had the Loco Moco, Chicken Karaage, Matcha Brûlée Block, Crème Brûlée Soufflé Pancake, and Sakura Lychee Soufflé Pancake. The presentation was beautiful and the taste was amazingly scrumptious!! If you are dining and I would say that Service was great Staff) is very attentive. They refill your drinks. They are very kind and taking your orders and paying right there from there POS system. The only thing I would say is the drink is really expensive and as much as the staff made it sound interesting. I didn't see anything very special about the drink. I felt like it was very ordinary and a lot of milk and not enough coffee for me. The pancake took a long time to make. I totally understand that they do let you know that it is a process when you order it they make it right then in there so it takes about 20 minutes for the pancake to come out some of them might take about 30 minutes long for pancake to come out. I feel $18 is a lot for these fluffy pancakes. It is a cute location. I love the decorations. I love the ambience feel I feel like the chairs and tables are cute and comfortable. I love the colors of the light mint, green and pastel pink. I would say this is great for a girls catching up and wanting to have some cute Instagram photos, but overall, I don't think the drink is worth the price and the pancakes are not that extraordinary to be paying my mango was not ripe. It was still pretty un ripe when I ate it so I felt like it should've been a perfect ripen mango to go with my pancake and also I should've gone at least more mangoes so I'm not quite sure why pancakes are so expensive.
