Usually a favorite! I wrongly assumed my favorite blueberry salmon would be on the menu, as it's blueberry season. It wasn't on menu and they couldn't make it-lesson call before you go if you're craving a menu item!!! I pivoted to have the Nantucket Scallops which were good but served with cold potatoes. After a day at the beach, we stopped at The Breachway Grill for a quick lunch. Convenient to the beach. This restaurant is showing its age. We were greeted by a huge fish hanging from the ceiling. Our server was friendly. We tried the chips and salsa for an appetizer. Stay away from the chips and salsa. Nothing special here. We enjoyed the clam chowder. We ordered the salmon sandwich, classic burger, and breachway burger. It was all ok. This restaurant was recommended to us by locals. You haven't lived until you've tried the Lobster Rangoon with Wontons appetizer! Out of this world!!!

Went on a Wednesday evening for their appetizer specials, and the two of us made a meal out of apps. Their clam chowder is among the best around, had that, also calamari, a small bowl of it with dipping sauce. Ours was all rings, nicely cooked, then on to a carne taco for my wife and chicken wings for me. She really liked the taco, and the buffalo wings were really good, not super spicy, nice flavor with blue cheese dipping sauce. I had a mixed drink and my wife seltzer with cranberry juice. Total was $50. Service was excellent. Note every other Sunday is "Sunday Gravy nite", with an Italian specialty served and this is very, very good! read more

Found this place while aimlessly driving through a rain storm today while hungry. First impressions. I was that it was a cute little spot, was greeted and sat quickly. Unfortunately it was dark and barely lit where I was seated. Could barely see the menu so I used my phone. I ordered Tuna Tartar, Lobster Scampi Fettuccine and a piece of Coconut Cake. The best part of the meal was the Coconut Cake. Absolutely perfect homemade tasting cake. Yummy. All in all, not too bad. Plenty of parking with a cute coffee and pastry spot next door. For me, Unfortunately the Tuna Tartare was on the bland side. Had to add salt and pepper to it. With the Lobster Scampi, yes had pieces of lobster in it, but the lobster was over cooked and a little rubbery. Also, there wasn't very much sauce on the dish so the fettuccine was pretty plain. Overall the main dishes were o, they were not the best seasoned food I've experienced. Salt, pepper and Parmesan helped them out. Recommend raising the season level to the dishes. Not bad for older patrons that like things a little bland but for those that aren't older, who like a little extra seasoning, it may be a good thing to ask the guests... Notes for the manager....I ordered a drink and waited for someone to light the table candle to help with the lighting. No one did so I asked the waitress and she lit it but it went out 10 seconds after I left. So... I went and swapped it with an empty table, which later I felt bad about because another single person sat through their entire meal without a lit candle. read more

I was at the breechway Grill on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch with a friend. We were greeted cordially and seated in a preferred spot. There are always good selections on the menu here. We chose roasted beet salad and clam chowder to start. Blackened swordfish bowl, and Los Cabos grilled fish bowl were excellent entrees. We had tea and split a slice of carrot cake for dessert. Everything tasted delicious! Food was nicely presented, fresh, and an excellent combination of flavors. My only suggestion is that the chowder was barely lukewarm and could have been warmer. That's an easy fix for the future. We came with our appetites, ate well and left nary a scrap behind. We had a wonderful unhurried lunch, such a nice perk of dining there in the off-season. The seating was good. The tables weren't pressed too close together. We didn't feel squeezed, and had room to breathe and time to chat. I must say something about our server, Marco. He was handling the bar and all the tables and made it look easy. He was pleasant, accommodating, well-informed about the menu, and did not rush us. His employer can be proud of him as a representative of their restaurant. All-in-all, it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend the Breachway Grill. read more

I would like to express my disappointment regarding my recent experience at this establishment. I visited this establishment with a friend who is a graduate student at URI, and I am from out of state we wanted to listen to the local band and have a drink together. However, we were denied service under the accusation that our IDs "were obviously fake." Despite presenting valid identification and additional forms of IDs, such as car registrations, we were treated in an unsatisfactory and dismissive manner by both the manager and bartender. I find this level of service unacceptable, and I cannot recommend this establishment if you don't have a Rhode Island ID based on this experience. I hope you take this feedback into consideration to improve your customer interactions in the future; such as scanning IDs and taking out of state IDs as credible forms of identification! read more

My husband and I came to the Breachway Grill for dinner after spending a day at the beach. We ordered calamari, which was delicious. We both ordered the American Cod. The cod was also delicious and nice and hot. The sides were not as good. The mashed potatoes were quite bland and the hericovert was quite garlicky. No one ever did and I just wanted a drink and some food at the bar but instead walked out on the patio cause it was the only staff member I could see-it gets worse and worse from here. We were looking for something in the area that we could get a bite...later in the evening that wasn't too busy. They had live music in the bar and we sat in the dining room. We might have sat outside under the tent but the area looked closed up at 8p. We had the breachway burger with sweet potato fries and fish and chips. I had the pineapple margarita and the waitress offered up a salt or sugar rum. My husband had the bourbon smash which didn't quite fill the glass it was served in. Both drinks tasted excellent. Service was great. The food was delicious, and it came out fast. They had a couple of specials that sounded really good but I had already decided on a burger. We had the most delicious dinner. I had Chicken Scarparello which was, as I had hoped, very spicy . If you like spicy food, THIS is the dish for you. Hot sausage, peppers and chicken in a great brown sauce-so good. My wife had fish tacos which she loved and I tasted, cod and slaw in a taco, very good. The waitress was wonderful. --If there was one negative, it is that I asked for a table far from the entertainment and while 15 or so ft from the band, they were just setting up as we ate and we got out before they started. I dont know this group, and they may be good, but the last time we were there, the guy playing over a recorded track wasn't great and was WAY too loud for a restaurant. I used to be a regular at the Breachway grill because I loved their fish tacos but not anymore. My husband and I ordered for takeout their fish tacos and we're very disappointed. We received two tiny and very soggy fish tacos that fell apart. In the past, they provided 3 tacos plus a small bean salad and the fresh taco shells did not require you to eat them with a fork. When I called to ask about the very small portion, I was told that they switched their portion size from 3 to 2 tacos. For $19 that meant that it cost nearly $10 for each small taco. I have never heard of a $10 taco and I eat out a lot. Not only was it expensive, but it was insufficient for a dinner and we needed to order more food from a different local establishment. I do not plan to return. read more

It must have had something to do with a private party that was scheduled to begin...2 hours from the time we entered the restaurant. Literally, our food was just not that important. We had dined here previously and while not stellar it was decent. Hint to the owner, unless you plan on becoming a party venue, you should emphasize the care and good feeding of the paying public. I stopped in at the bar for take-out and was very pleased with the staff, environment and the food. While I waited, I ordered one of the drinks off of the drink menu for $10. It was a vodka and lavender drink with a lemon as a garnish...very good and soothing. I ordered the Chicken Scapariello with rice for $20 and was also very pleased with the flavors of this dish. I will definitely go back to get it again because I loved it. It was had the perfect amount of spice from the cherry peppers. The food is great, but you don't get a large portion for the price that you pay. I think that all goes with the location though. There is not much to choose from in Charlestown in that area. Price was just a couple of dollars less than the whole fish and chip dinner! We moved to Charlestown this past summer and I regret not checking this place out sooner. The other night we both decided that we wanted a good burger so I suggested we check out the grill because we can literally run over to pick it up. I ordered the burger that has grilled onions and mushrooms on it and asked for american cheese (I love american cheese on burgers, in omelettes, in macaroni, you name it, lol.) The burgers were cooked perfectly. A perfect Medium. They burgers were seasoned perfectly, juicy and absolutely everything I wanted and then some. I got fries and enjoyed those as well. They were crispy and seasoned well. I am excited for our next burger night and will probably get the same exact thing again.
