We were looking for great seafood. Thanks to fellow yelpers, tried The Fishery. Located in a small strip mall, is this seafood market. Clearly this is a seafood market. However, on Fridays they do prepare fried food. We lucked out, and got there around 12:30. Limited selection? Yes, but it's all stuff we love. So the hubby and I were happy to pick the clam strips and scallops. Oh, they didn't have the bay scallops, but had ocean scallops. Was that okay? Okay? We love ocean more than bay. So we lucked out again. Quick drive to the water, and enjoyed our lunch. Have to tell you these were SO delicious. Scallops melted on my tongue. Clams were so flavorful. The tartar was so good too! Didn't have room to finish the fries, but they were good too. So we're going to have to take a small walk on the beach to work it off. Seriously, if you're lucky enough to be around on Fridays for a delicious takeout seafood, this is the place. If you're looking to buy fresh seafood every other time, this is the place. Love their sustainability. Sell what's available on the boat that day. Can't get fresher than that. read more

Possibly the best fried seafood in Westerly - an amazing seafood market doing fried fish and chips on Fridays. We were blown away by the shrimp ($15) - beautifully cooked, creamy on the inside, and the batter was crispy and delicious. The freshest fish in the area! Mike, the friendly fishmonger and owner, updates his fresh deliveries on his Facebook page. So far I have picked up beautiful fresh flounder filets, Faroe Island salmon and also got super fresh sea scallops two times. I love scallops and these are from Pt.Judith... no preservatives! The location is convenient but not as much selection as other seafood markets within a 5 mile drive. I think that's good because they only buy what they will sell.....but not good if you want something in particular. Knowing this, I called ahead at about 4:30 to find out what time they closed and was curtly informed "we don't have hardly anything left" I asked if they had 2 pound lobsters and was curtly informed (we might have one) Well, do you or don't you? In my first visit the selection was extremely limited. I chose from the two pieces of salmon, though I wanted a white fish. I commented on the meager selection, "wow, big day for fish I suppose." She said, "That's all we have." A "friend" walked in as I was leaving and the woman said "Hey Joe! want some haddock, We're just filleting some up in back now!" Understand that this is not a first come, first served shop. They will leap past you and serve their friends and ignore you till they're done. I can't give enough stars to this business. I went in and bought scallops, crab cakes, shrimp and about a pound of salmon. all of the above were probably the best I have ever tasted in my entire life. I am a seafood and a sushi fanatic and have had my share. If you like seafood and you appreciate quality this is the place to go. I dare anyone to prove me wrong. I offered to make dinner one night during my visit to RI and fish seemed like a no brainer. I was, after all, inches from the Atlantic. I had a bug up my ass to make poisson en papillote (that's fish in parchment for you beginners) and only needed to decide what kind of fish to use. Several phone calls all over the tri-state area for sea bass yielded no results. I had to think fast on a substitution and decided to go with Atlantic cod. We drove about 3 hours round trip from central CT to visit The Fishery. We were looking for some fresh quahogs to make homemade stuffed quahogs. It's very rare to find a fish market that truly gets fish fresh from the ocean - that's why we drove so far to come here. Needless to say, the stuffed quahogs were delicious and it was well worth the trip. I assume it would probably be easier for the owners to just get the processed stuff that everybody else does... But I appreciate that they put in the extra effort to source quality fresh seafood for the general public. We live in south county, so every where you turn there's seafood. What's different about The Fishery is that it is GOOD & FRESH seafood. The owner, Mike, has been so helpful and informative. My husband & I are pescetarians (fish is the only "meat" we eat) so it is super important to us to have the best. We have become spoiled...from the quality of the seafood, to the service we receive, and we now refuse to buy our seafood anywhere else! Don't ask for extra tartar sauce the manager would rather loose a long time customer who has spent hundreds over the years then give a 25-30 cent side of tartar if you are going to give 3 2oz pieces of fish and only Oz to Oz 1/2 of tartar just isn't enough I would have gladly paid for the extra tartar but the manager was so rude that I will no longer use the Fishey for personal and catering services bad costumer service just costs you my account manager needs training in costumer service personally with 40 years experience in the industry I've never been treated so unprofessional this person should be fired read more

This market Has the most limited selection of any market in westerly and at time it comes with an attitude , this market is not less expensive than any other markets try Dunns Corner Market limited selection but fresh and fair prices ,or Stop& Shop. We got 3.5 lbs of swordfish, 2 lbs of jumbo shrimp and 7 lbs of mussels for around $90. We called ahead so they wouldn't run out and they were great about setting aside our order. It's not a big place so I would recommend this if you have a big order. Everything was fresh and delicious! read more

Ha seafood from the Fishery for first time tonight. We got 4 lobsters and 5 lbs clams for 4 of us it was necessary for us to have it steamed there.they were most obliging and it was all set to eat... for a price of course. The clams were some of the best any of us have ever had. The lobster was a little hard to crack but we decided that was our age and we let the younger ones do it . The taste was great with plenty of meat.we will be back! read more
