I went to the beach to take a walk and take a break. It was a beautiful day so the Windjammer was open preseason for lunch. We were greeted right away and the hostess let us pick our seats outside. The waitress was prompt and put our drinks orders in right away. When she brought our drinks she asked if we wanted apps, but we told her we were ready to order. The food arrived quickly and it was still hot. **Beware the seagulls. ** They can be very persistent. One tried to steal my drink and another wanted my burger. You need to keep an eye on your food any where in Misquamicut because the seagulls are ruthless. My drink was cold and my burger was delicious. Two thumbs up on a beautiful April day. read more

We came by an early afternoon almost 2 pm on a Friday. We were at the beach and decided to come by and have a snack and a quick drink. We loved the Tuna on wonton crisp. Tuna was absolutely perfect. Perfect squares and super fresh. The flavors of the sauce and perfect crisp wonton was the perfect combination. You can't go wrong with this spot. If you plan to come here, just go in with expectations of knowing that is is a beach bar. It's a large place with great outdoor seating, lots of drinking, food and drinks spilled on the floor, loud music and partying. They definitely get a five-star on that end. We arrived for our reservation with a group of five, they decided to squeeze us into a table for four stating that's all that they had although two tables of six sat empty next to us the whole evening. Most of our food choices were very good, we ordered a steak salad, lobster bisque, a burger and fish tacos. The only issue we had were the fish tacos were very low on shrimp whereas the third taco had one shrimp in it. But the positives were that the view was great, our server was friendly and it is a good place to drink and dance the night away to the bands they have each night. read more

This place is right on the beach. It has outdoor seating where you can enjoy the fresh ocean air and watch the waves. It also has a huge inside area. Right when you enter they have a bowl for dog treats. Yes, they allow dogs inside and outside innthis restaurant and they even serve dog beer (bone broth)! How cool is that?! The menu is full of choices and they are delicious! They also have a variety of Cocktails and beers. They have shows and live music sometimes as well. However other tables were still ordering and getting food almost an hour after. So that was a wee bit bizarre. They have good sound in there and good dancing. They got the good Pepperoni! Ok that's not the first or probably the 8th thing someone would say about Windjammer but I just love the good pepperoni. Here's the bottom line about windjammer: Will not be the best food but it's reasonably priced and a great location. It's large. The inside area is split between a a very large bar area and a dining hall. Immediately you are hit with a dirty beer smell. Listen- it's a beach bar. It's RI's own little Margaritaville in a way . People just stepped off the beach, enjoying too many drinks and sandy feet are the norm. Music playing. There is a back patio that sprawls the whole length of the building. Patio tables with umbrellas and then relaxing patio furniture for those who just want to drink and take in the view. We sat all the way toward the end of the building on the right and there were stairs that lead us right to the beach. This was clutch for us. We ordered our dinner and the kids went and changed in the bathroom then went out to play in the water. They easily came back for their food (dripping wet and nobody cared) and returned to the water. I then got my youngest changed, paid the bill and my husband moved to the relax patio area with our belongings as I went to the water to watch all three kids just have a blast nighttime swimming! It turned out to be great. My pina colada was delicious! Came with whipped cream as well. (Bonus points!) My fish and chips were a little over done- like charred a little (they tried covering it up with the placement of the fries.) NO TARTAR SAUCE! Thats a fail. The coleslaw was a little too sugary but I liked the general flavor. The flatbread pizza wasn't great but the pepperoni's were crispy and I love that. Overall- our family will return. I really enjoyed the meal I had here a few weeks back. I've been dreaming of their tater tot special with the cheese and scallions I think? Whatever it was, it was amazing. I've been dreaming of that dish. I also had the chicken salad sandwich and it was pretty good. Wasn't a huge fan of the bread but it's okay because I just read the wrong one and thought it was a different bread, so that's my one mistake, lol! I had a drink and it was very strong and a little pricey but still good! I don't remember what it was called but it had rum in it. I understand the pricey drinks because it's in Westerly and drinks are expensive these days. The service was pretty good. Service was HORRIBLE. There was over an hour wait for a table but the hostess said to just order from the bar and find seating outside so that's what we did. All 5 of us ordered, however it took 40 minutes to order our food and drinks because the bartender kept taking other drink and food orders. This normally wouldn't be a problem but because she took all of our orders at least 10 minutes apart, all of my friends food came out at different times and we had to stay at the bar to wait for our food but there was no seating! So half of my group went outside once the first person got their food and the other half stayed inside, delivering our friends food when it came out, however, it all came out in 20 minute increments so the first person to get food in my group ate theirs because it was getting cold and everyone else in my group just took turns going outside and eating separately. How horrible is that!! I wanted us all to eat together at a TABLE, not standing at a rock wall and eating individually because our meals came out 20 minutes apart. Also, when I asked where my food was because I was waiting for almost an hour for TACOS, she was insanely rude to me and talked down on me because the kitchen was busy. As a paying customer, this was insanely disrespectful because I don't think it's unfair to question where my food is if I've been waiting for almost an hour and all of my friends have gotten there's. Once I finally got my food, it tasted good, but the portion was so small and it just looked like it was thrown on the plate. There were 2 small pieces of mahi per taco and barely any mango salsa. It also came with tortilla chips but there weren't very many and they were all broken like it was the bottom of the bag. For $21, I was very disappointed and I was very upset that my friends and I couldn't sit and eat together. If we waited for everyone to get their food, everyone's food would have been cold and stale and we would have been there for well over 2 hours. This place has really gone downhill and I won't be returning until they swap out new staff. read more

We didn't have to wait in line but we were told we were not going to be able to get seating outdoors since it was all reserved. " no Problem "! We were ok sitting inside. Our waitress, was nice and greater us at first, asked for our orders but then...she came back and mentioned GF bread was no Longer available because they had run out. Bummer!! I was set on a crab and lobster sandwich I really wanted. Instead I order street tacos, mahi kind. Food didn't take long to Come out but the service was a different story. We waited 40 min for a pitcher of water, and 40 Min for ketchup. For ketchup we had to get up and get our own from another table. Not too happy about that. Going back to the food.. my street tacos were just ok. Everything had a kick to it, somewhat spicy and since I don't like spicy I didn't enjoy it. Do not come in the Summer. We've been here for 2 hours and still haven't received our food. Server has told us "it's coming" twice. A lot of walkouts so I assume that's why she's saying that. She's sweet but not honest. She did say the kitchen is short staffed once we asked 1-1/2 hours in. Obviously that wasn't explained in advance. Probably should have known given there were open tables but it still took 20 minutes to be seated. That said, i guess we're the schmucks since we're still waiting. A classic beach hang out. My family has been coming here for 30+ years on vacation and it never disappoints. Great live entertainment, clean and updated facilities, awesome staff. Each summer we have been to this beachfront restaurant and some years are better than others. On a positive note the location and view are excellent. They often have live music beginning at lunchtime and it often continues through dinner. Today we had a reservation and were taken to a high top table without an umbrella. We asked politely for a table with an umbrella but we told non was available. When we got to our table there was an available table with an umbrella, so we inquired about it. The young woman seating us told us she could not seat us there because the table numbers were messed up and she just couldn't do it. Inevitably 5 minutes later, two people sat at that same table. Annoying. Next, our waitress appeared disinterested in her job. She took our order but didn't ask about our side choices. She just brought the default fries. She also didn't make the slight adjustment to a request for cheddar instead of Swiss cheese. Once our food arrived, we never saw her to get some more water or even to check in on us. The food did taste good thankfully. Lastly, the bathrooms were absolutely filthy and smelly. You could actually smell urine from the entrance just inside the door. Seems like they are ready for the season to end because we surely will not be back. read more

Great drinks snd the lobster poutine was amazing. The poutine is fries smothered in lobster bisque then topped with lobster chunks and cheese curd. Really superb. I took a picture but we ate the big lobster pieces before we remembered to snap a pic. Sorry folks. Hubby ordered the lobster roll warm and he really liked it. He liked it so much that he forgot to save me a decent bite. I basically got bread and a teeny bite of lobster. Lol. I got the mahi tacos. Honestly they were ok. The mahi was excellently flavored but only two pieces per taco so I was not completely impressed. The bourbon smash was AMAZING! So good I'm going to try and recreate at home. A bit disappointed on our recent visit - The place was humming with business and they really couldn't keep up - understandable. So we ordered takeout to sit on the sea wall - fine by us! However, when we opened our food containers, they were so skimpy on the portions compared to the plates we saw being served to the "dining in" guests, we were like "what are we? chopped liver?" Perfect place to get together with friends for drinks on the ocean. They offer indoor table seating, high top bar seating, outdoor table seating, outdoor bar seating, banquet hall seating for inclement weather I did not order food this time but I did have plenty of drinks at both the inside bar and the outside bar. I visited last Friday and caught a great band. In general the Windjammer is a super place to catch live music on the beach. They book great bands, and the bartenders deserve 5 stars. I would not try to check out a band if you are with a larger party or want to stay more than and hour or two. The management and security here are in the 1 star rating department. I was in here with a group of friends sitting at a couple of tables, spending a bunch on drinks and food and they hassled us and would not let us watch our friends in the band at the same tables. They insisted we move for reservations, yet there were open tables all around. The management was very thoughtless and easily could have accommodated everyone and all objectives. It is a shame as the Windjammer is in a sweet location and obviously can get other things right. read more

A beautiful weekend in New England in October and on our way from Watch Hill to our rental in South Kingstown, we stopped at the Windjammer Surf Bar because we had our Frenchie with us. This place is very dog friendly. We sat outside, but dogs are allowed inside too. The staff upfront gave our pup lots of treats while we wait for our table. The hostess kindly pointed out another table with a dog on our way by and they quickly brought her a bowl of water. We just had a couple of drinks and snacks (loaded hummus dip and wings and peel and eat shrimp). There were a couple of large groups that came in while we were there so it took a little while to settle our tab which would have been okay if we had a drink to sip on while we waited. This is where you go for some good food and a lot of it! As frequent visitors of Misquamicut beach, this is the place we go for great food, environment, and service. I ordered the fish and chips platter and a mango margarita. I always get fish and chips when we go out for seafood and these are the best fish and chips I've had in a while. Also, the margarita was strong and had a delicious flavor throughout. Overall, the food was delicious. The staff here is always friendly. They play the best music that always puts you right in the mood. The atmosphere is great and the view from the outside patio makes you feel like you're almost in the water. I can't speak more for this place besides it's just a great place to go. On a great side note, Dusty's Dairy Bar has moved right next to the windjammer and it's a great place to stop by and get some unique ice cream flavors. First visit here was eh. There was some idiot on an acoustic guitar playing horrible cover tunes. It was loud and awful. When he finally took a break I was psyched until they started blaring the Sirius XM Muzak with commercials. Wicked loud horrible pop tunes. It's a beach bar/restaurant. Play some reggae or good music. Second visit started off a little rocky but then took a turn for the better when the tall dark-haired bartender came on shift. The guy was totally on the ball and made great drinks. Very personable and quick. Food was actually really good. I got the hot Nashville chicken sandwich and it was freaking awesome. Also had some street tacos which were delicious as well. When I saw a DJ setting up, I was dreading some Jersey Shore shore type stuff. But the guy was actually awesome. We sat outside, overlooking what would have been a beautiful view of the ocean if it weren't for the random people sitting on a wall, facing us. They were eating, drinking, smoking (which was disruptive to a nice, relaxing lunch). Some were even staring at ua, which was awkward.
