Sea View Snack Bar is the perfect spot for seafood with an unbeatable view. The fish was crispy on the outside, tender and flaky inside. The fries were ok. I was however slightly concerned about the tartar sauce that was sitting outside in the heat. Sitting right by the water made the whole experience awesome.

Order at the window and dine at one of the numerous picnic tables overlooking the water. The view is A+. The menu has something for everyone! The Fish and Chips plate was delicious fried flounder, yummy coleslaw and fries- probably frozen. We ordered a Lobster Roll to share, and we very much enjoyed this local traditional food. The lobster roll sauce with dill and the buttered, toasted bun really raised the bar on the lobster roll! A friend shared her fried clams, and we all agreed they were tough. The clams would not be a reorder. Service was friendly and helpful!

Adorable spot, outside picnic tables with a beautiful view and delicious clam chowder.

I got the chicken sandwich, beautiful piece of fried fish on a very inexpensive bun with I burg lettuce $10, $15 for fries and a coke. But the view. The view is awesome. The service was good. They take your order from the window and call out number over a speaker. You can hear them call you from the back too. Ice cream place shares the picnic area.

Just walk up and place your order!

For a seafood shack you can't do much better than this. A great location on the water. Wonderful views of the Mystic River. A classic....walk up and order then sit at a picnic table and wait for your number to be called. They are usually busy but everything runs like clockwork. The seafood is fresh and well prepared. There's a reason it's been around since 1976!

We stopped by Sea View Snack Bar for lunch on July 4th last weekend, and it was the perfect place for a summer lunch: fresh seafood, water views, tons of tables, fast service. For for our group of four, we ordered shrimp cocktail, a couple of cold lobster rolls, clam strips, onion rings, and a flounder sandwich. Everything was delicious and fresh. (FYI - If seafood isn't your thing but you're being dragged to Sea View because everyone else in your group loves seafood or because you really want to enjoy their wonderful outdoor spot, don't worry - the also have hot dogs, burgers, chicken, etc.) Open since 1976, Sea View is a classic. It's delicious and has great water views. What else could you want for lunch in Mystic?

Clam chowder was good. Lobster was okay. Service is fast. Great place to sit and eat my the water. I would come back to try something else.

Been coming here since I was a little boy... I usually stop by more for the nostalgia than the chow, but as far as clam shacks go it isn't bad

Drove by and stopped at this seafood shack while on the way back from Rhode Island to New York, and boy are we glad we did! It fulfilled my New England seafood cravings perfectly. The fish & chips were flakey and tender on the inside while lightly crispy on the out, the clamp chowder was creamy and flavorful, and the lobster rolls were filled with so much chunky goodness with just a light mayo touch. It honestly made me want to book a future weekend trip to Mystic just to go again.

Adequate. That's about the only thing to say for the Sea View. You do get a water view, although it's a river not the sea, but really that's just par. The food tastes straight from a Sysco truck, which is disappointing considering how many seafood restaurants and distributors there are nearby. Unlike other places in the area, I didn't even get an option for grilled or fried for my scallop roll. The people seemed nice enough, but you're definitely paying tourist prices for the food, and the only upside this place has is the easy to get to location. No winding back roads or secret hideaway here. Can't say that brings me to recommend it though.

On a sunny day and beautiful weather this place is five out of five just alone. The field of the place is amazing. I come here with my dog often and it's a great place to just eat outside. So far, I think the clam strips are the best. The lobster roll is nothing to write home about but still really solid.

The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. I had four dishes that I will describe below. Carolina Hush Puppies ($8) - These came with jalapeno-honey butter, which was what drew me initially, but they did not need them at all. There was five extremely large hush puppies, and they were some of the best, if not the best, I ever had. They were perfectly fried with tons of flavor. The butter was tasty, but as mentioned, not needed at all. Deviled Farm Eggs ($8) - There were four present and they were topped with a homemade chili crunch. These were solid. I thought the chili crunch would be spicier, but there was a nice slight crisp factor with the crunch present. Old Bay Macaroni Salad ($6) - This was a traditional macaroni salad with a hint of old bay. The macaroni was cooked ideally, and the touch of old bay was a different seasoning to use. Chopped Salad ($19) - This had romaine lettuce, roasted carrots, avocado, pickled red onion, cornbread croutons, bell peppers, feta cheese, and pulled rotisserie chicken, with a green goddess dressing. This was very big with a ton of all of the ingredients. They appeared all fresh and paired nicely with one another. I thought the dressing was a little light and actually could have used more flavor. The cornbread croutons were unique and stood out. Will I go back? Yup.

The service was okay while the food came out in a timely manner. I liked that some of the fish items listed the fishing vessel on the menu. Three appetizers were ordered which consisted of a beet pickled deviled egg ($4 each), chilled oysters (Half Dozen $18), and the local fluke crudo ($17). The egg had a crispy clam strip and espelette pepper. This was solid. I thought the clam strip was a little too overpowerful given the size of that and the egg. The pickled beet egg was interesting, and I liked how the filling was also under the egg, so the egg did not move. The Riverhawk oysters were fresh and tasty. The mignonette was simple and paired well. The crudo had an herb mayo, pickled ramps, kelp crisp, and pickled sugar kelp. This was alright. It seemed like fennel or a similar type of herb was used in one of the pickling items, which took over a little bit. The kelp crisp was nice and paired well with the fluke. For an entrée, I had the local scup a la plancha ($37). It came with Marshall Cove mussels, fondant potato, English peas, and a saffron emulsion. This was a nice sized portion. I thought the saffron emulsion was key and went together with everything else on the plate. The mussels were fresh again, and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. It was a well-done dish, but the use of scup made it feel more modest, but maybe that was the point, so what do I know? I also tried the scallop dish that came with green crab crispy rice, chili crispy, and a garlic aioli. The rice was very crispy, and it reminded me of a traditional hibachi rice, but elevated. The scallops had a perfect cook to them too. For dessert, the oyster ice cream ($10) was tried. It had to be tasted when it was on the menu. It had a slight briny flavor, but nothing too overpowerful. The ice cream itself was very creamy with a nice texture. I believe Greek yogurt was used, which probably helped with the oyster flavor that was incorporated. Will I go back? Sure.

I really liked the ambiance of the space, it's quite comfortable and has a nautical aesthetic. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the restaurant's offerings, noting in their introduction that the focus of the menu is on fresh local seafood, and that everything on the menu is freshly made in house. I was very eager to try a cup of the clam chowder for an appetizer since many other reviewers have said that it's some of the best they've ever tasted, and after trying it for myself I'm more than inclined to agree with them; it had a perfect consistency and excellent flavor. Boyfriend wanted the fried mozzarella so we got some of that, and that was pretty tasty as well. Boyfriend got the chicken parm sandwich for his meal and I got the fish and chips. I didn't end up trying the sandwich, but he said he liked it. My fish and chips plate was pretty good; the fish tasted just a tad under seasoned to me, however the flavorful tartar sauce helped with that and I could tell the fish itself was great quality. The hand cut fries were good, but I wasn't really a fan of the coleslaw. Overall we had a pleasant experience at The Mariner. A very good choice for fresh seafood and a relaxed vibe. I'm sure I'll be in town again at some point; if I come back to The Mariner, I'll make a point to get a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup, because that alone is absolutely worth returning for... but until then, I'll be dreaming about it.

On a visit to Mystic, I could not wait to find a restaurant that served more seafood than I could easily settle on. Sitting in the Mystic Marriott lobby, yelp pointed us to the Captain Daniel Packer Inne. What a find. Although the building was restored in 1979, it's origin dates to 1756. Everything seems to have been preserved -including the aura. As you would expect with a building older than the signing of the Declaration of Independence, it is small in size but large in hospitality. Without reservations, we did not stand much of a chance in the upstairs dinning area, but a flight of stairs down to the pub in the cellar... and we were seated in 20 minutes. For appetizers, we had the phyllo dough lobster lollipops and an order of artichoke hearts that were resting in a light lobster sauce (the artichoke that is) that invited us to soak up what was left with the delicious homemade bread we were served. For our main course we had the halibut steak that was sitting on top of freshly mashed potatoes with a smattering of fresh corn kernels. The customer service attendants were mindful of their tables and visited at opportune times. -Not when you start to take a bite and never did we wonder where they might have gone off to. Parking is always tricky, but we got a good spot in the lot and were very happy. The wait for the table was maybe 10 minutes which was not too bad. The waitress was very good and she took care of our water, drinks, and bread right away. The place was busy but we really were pleased with the service! I ordered the fish and chips. Most of the table ordered a steak, veggie, and mashed potatoes. Truffle fries was the appetizer that landed on my end of the table. They were not my favorite. Those who had the steak seemed happy with the meal. Both of us who had the fish and chips were not happy with the meal. We had fish and chips at Steak Loft the night before- and they did not compare. They were perfect. The order I had at Daniel Packard were heavy and filling but I was missing the light tempura batter, the crunch and soft fresh fish, and the great tartar sauce that is the standard for fish and chips! I didn't take my leftovers which is not the norm for me. I'll swing by in the winter for a pint in front of the fire no doubt, but I think another dinner is not in my future.
