Just a sumptuous dinner at one of the most stately of resorts. Everything about the visit was 5 stars plus! The staff is top notch and exceptionally friendly. Our server was Ricardo and he was excellent. The most serene water view from our table added to the ambience. The summer campanelle and the Italian sausage rigatoni were perfect. The chocolate torte and the panna cotta were perfect. The drinks such as the Weekapaug sunrise were perfect. Definitely a place to come back to again and again. read more

We had a lovely dinner here three years ago, What a shocking disappointment on our return trip tonight. The restaurant and the entire property are beautiful. And our waiter Iggy was a delightful and attentive server. My wife's sea bass was delicious. And I have little else to say that's positive. I had the toro appetizer. It was tough, chewy, and drowned in so much marinade you couldn't taste anything else. I honestly didn't know toro could even be chewy. Sent back the first order thinking it was cut wrong. Second was just as bad. And they didn't take it off the check. Lobster pappardelle was nearly flavorless -- void of seasoning -- and I needed a magnifying glass to find the lobster in this dish. There were numerous service mistakes that I won't detail here. Suffice to say it feels like nobody is managing the dining experience. I've had better service in most diners than we had here. With so many great restaurants in the area, you'd be better off driving by, taking some pictures, and going almost anywhere else. (Try Ella's. It's a gem.) Believe the one-star reviews posted here. If you are reading this, you've gotten past the $$$$ on the lead page. I've been 2 miles from the place for 40 years and am much, much more likely to be seen from the deck clamming and drinking a Narragansett than dining here, but, my brother-in-law was here from San Fran and wanted to go, so here we are. Did I want to find it pretentious? Probably, but service staff was great, even watching my son and I play a game of speed chess in the bar downstairs after dinner. Did I pay 22$ for a burger? Yes, but the burger and fries were great, and nowadays, 22$ isn't far off a 'regular' restaurant price. The beer was cold and good. So, if you're in the area, especially on a shoulder season weeknight, and want to see the beauty of Rhode Island up close while spending only an arm OR a leg, give it a shot. read more

In my 30 years of reviewing restaurants, I am afraid this one tops the cake in terms of dining experience. I have been a patron of this restaurant for lunch a half dozen times but this was my first dinner experience. Obviously the location is beautiful, and the staff are welcoming and pleasant. However from the moment we sat down the issues began and didn't end till we left the establishment. Water was brought right away, however it took almost 20 minutes from when we ordered our first drink till we received it. Unfortunately for me they brought the wrong wine. It took another 15 minutes to bring the correct one. Ok, strike one. I ordered the corn bisque which was ok, the bacon bits were the texture of charcoal and I am going to be picking pieces out of my teeth all night. For our entrees my husband ordered the steak medium and I ordered to lobster pappardelle pasta with no sea apragus. For those who have never had sea asparagus it's extremely salty and unless you have an obsession with asparagus I would opt out of it being included especially with an already salty components. My husband's steak came out well done and as hard as a hockey puck. My pasta came with the asparagus even asking the waiter to omit it when I placed the order and he even double confirmed I did not want it. Waiter also repeated that my husband wanted it steak medium. They quickly remade my pasta.. however in doing so they completely undercooked the pasta.. I ordered a different glass of wine with dinner right when we ordered our meal so that I wouldn't have to wait 25 minutes to receive it, however 15 minutes later the waiter comes back to say they were out of that bottle , ok fine I ordered yet another glass... which came out relatively quickly. My husband ordered an old fashioned with bullet bourbon however that was not the bourbon that the old fashioned was made with. My husband ate two pieces of the steak and refused to eat another bite, they asked if they could remake it, but we were both completely over it. So they did take it off the bill. As a chef I'm angry as a patron celebrating her wedding anniversary I'm just sad. $300 meal and it was for the most part a complete disaster. read more

After posting a two star review last year our experience this year was outstanding. We had the tasting menu and it was superb. Every course was well prepared and inventive. The chocolate dessert had a cotton candy dome cover. The service was perfect. I hope you maintain this high level of dining. read more

First - we love the ambiance of the entire inn. We used to dine here 20+ times a year. It was without a doubt our "secret" place as locals. In the last 12 months, The restaurant and table service has radically declined. It is horrendous in every sense of the word. The restaurant staff and management team have ZERO sense of what good service should look and feel like. Its is truly a or shame because the service used to be so good! The experience is not even close to what you'd want or expect - so we won't be back. To those snooping around, there are a lot of other local options between Westerly, Stonington/mystic where you will have a far more superior dining experience. Trust me, look around. Notice to OH leadership: Reevaluate staff accountability and remove the lackluster restaurant service staff/leadership and bring back the Forbes customer experience or the 1 stars will continue stacking. read more

We were so so so disappointed with our experience here. Grabbed reservations for a Friday dinner a week in advance. Called the same day to move the reservation back 30 minutes and was told they only had an opening 1.5 hours later - fine, we'll make that work! We get there and there is LITERALLY no one else there. There was one table that had people sitting at it. We were seating and were put in the back corner of the dining area... didn't make that much sense but ok. It gets worse. The whole time we were there, there was an employee that was setting all of the tables around us. Then immediately going back and clearing them. Utensils, napkins, plates, glasses. All of it. He wasn't doing it quietly either. The whole time. CLANG, CLINK, BANG. Over & over again. Not sure if he was learning how to set tables or what? If so, why not do it in the other portion of the EMPTY dining room??? I haven't even gotten to the food & service yet. We went for "Pasta Night". 3 pieces of focaccia came out. Took a bite and realized that about 1/4 of the bottom of the bread was soaked in oil. I know you cook focaccia with a lot of oil, but it should not be so drenched that you can squeeze drops of oil out of it. Our two pastas - I got the pesto and my wife got the duck ravioli. Mine was fine, fairly bland, under salted, pasta a bit over cooked... at least the pasta was homemade.. My wife's ravioli - it only came with 5 fairly small raviolis. For over $40, that's absurd. Didn't even taste that great either. Under salted & bland. Our server was sweet, but insanely inattentive. We waited forever to get our check after finishing. All of that for a meal that was $100+ for two people. Really really disappointing for a night we were very much looking forward to. We could've gone to Go Pasta in Wakefield and had a field day with the money we spent here and it would've been a lot better. read more

My family has been coming to Weekapaug for years and we decided it was about time we experienced a dinner at the Weekapaug Inn. The Inn itself is an amazing little haven, everything about the decor is pleasing to the eye. I loved the set up of wooden chess and checker games by the fireplace in the bar section. The restaurant utilizes Opentable for reservations, however I gathered that the restaurant gets filled quickly on the weekends (especially during the summer). Our reservation was for 7:30 pm on a Monday evening and we were seated promptly. What I felt was great about the restaurant was their use of locally raised, harvested and seasonal produce. I ordered: (1) Appetizer -- Scallop risotto with local corn, truffle, pancetta lardons, new england coulommier cheese, and garden fresh herbs (2) Entree -- Pistachio crusted duck breast, frisee and leg confit salad, corn pudding, local honey, and blackberry-pot reduction (3) Dessert -- Apple and peach crisp with vanilla ice cream; paired with a glass of white Graham's Port Bonus was a nice surprise of 2 bagged mini raspberry and pistachio macaroons which came out with our bill. Yes, the meals can be a bit pricey ($25-$40 entrees) but I felt the quality of the food and the ambiance balances it out. I wouldn't say the prices were outrageous as it's on par with other restaurants offering the same caliber of food and is a similar pricing to restaurants in many cities. I couldn't give a full 5 star rating as I wasn't entirely impressed by the attitude of some of the staff. Upon approaching the stand and letting the hostess know I had a reservation, she either seemed uncomfortable or like she didn't want to interact with us (refused to look at me while speaking and awkwardly stared off at the wall next to me before instructing us to follow her to the table). When we left, a male waiter (did not catch his name) had rolled his eyes when we thanked him for their service, and he too refused to make eye contact. To be fair, perhaps he was having a long shift and dreaded the fact that there was a party of 8 still residing in the restaurant (it was 9:30 pm at this point). Our waiter for the evening, Jocelyn, was fantastic though. She was knowledgeable about the menu, seemed genuinely enthused to answer any questions as well as provide her own suggestions. Also, the waiter, Tracy, who served us our beverages was friendly and hilarious. In terms of the customer service, these two made up for the sub-par experience from the other two. I will certainly come back again! Tips: -Make a reservation in advance! -When you walk in, go towards the bar and walk straight past to get to the restaurant -Valet parking is available, BUT if your reservation is later at night I'd self-park as the valet may not be by the podium when you leave -Menu may seem a bit limited with choices (ex: meat and vegetable options each had 2 choices), however the menu seems to rotate out options. Made a dinner reservation for a birthday celebration a week in advance and confirmed the reservation the day before. Received a call at noon the day of the reservation that due to "technical issues" they could "only accommodate guests at the Inn" and cancelled our reservation (we rented a house in Weekapaug for this trip but have stayed at the Inn many times previously). Pretty clear we were bumped for a guest and they lied - really unprofessional. Every other restaurant is booked for tonight, so we can't have any celebration, and we leave tomorrow. Do not recommend to anyone. Edit: with absolutely no availability in all of Westerly for dinner tonight (probably why they are canceling outside reservations - complaining guests) I left the beach and went to the Inn to speak to the restaurant manager at a last ditch attempt to keep the reservation we'd made a week ago. They stood by "technical issues" as the reason for cancellation, so I offered to pay cash at dinner (no tech required!) to keep the reservation - nope! Pretty shallow excuse, and no resolution offered beyond re-booking in future (we leave in the morning). Really disappointed, ruined birthday and my family won't stay at the Inn in the future. read more

The restaurant is beautiful, overlooking Quonochontaug Pond. Found this spot for a last minute Christmas dinner getaway and was happy they were able to create a reservation for us. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming while delivering outstanding service. The prix fixe menu was well balanced and the fireplace next to our table was perfect. Absolutely fabulous!!! From breakfast ( lobster in 2 of the dishes!) - small bites - dinner - wine list - cocktails. Warm and inviting, with a local menu that changes seasonally. There is a vegetable and herb garden during the summer for the chef -tomatoes, basil, radishes, etc... Homemade pastas, local seafood and so much more!!! You know this is a great place when the locals fill the restaurant - not just those staying at the Inn. read more

Very few places have as pleasant a sense of place for a meal as Grand Central Terminal's Oyster Bar for clam chowder or Mount Desert Island's Jordan Pond House for popovers. May I nominate the Weekapaug Inn in Westerly Rhode Island for crab salad, tomato soup, and a grilled cheese sandwich. Welcoming crew, lovely atmosphere, comfort views, a giant wood-burning Rumford fireplace. Just got back to Fairfield County from a most enjoyable afternoon. Nice. read more

I dined at the Restaurant at the Weekapaug Inn last night and was extremely disappointed. It was my first time dining there, but I have always had great meals at the Ocean House, another Royce-owned property, so I was expecting a first-rate dining experience. It was not to be. There were 6 of us out to celebrate a friend's 50th birthday. When we arrived at 8:05 p.m. for our 8:00 p.m. reservation, we were told that we would have to wait for our table to be set up and perhaps we wanted to get a cocktail at the bar. Not a big deal, except that when they did finally bring us to our table the dining room was half empty at best. There was really no excuse. Nonetheless, they brought us to a lovely table and we all settled in for nice evening. Service started off very strong. We were greeted warmly by our server and water was quickly brought to the table. Someone came promptly to take our drink orders, but then before leaving to get our drinks, she asked if we were ready to order. We hadn't even looked at our menus at this point, and I really don't think it is appropriate for the server to ask to take your food order until after they have returned with drinks. Our drinks came back quickly and we placed our orders. Our appetizers arrived in timely fashion. However, after that things went very wrong. It was well over a half an hour, and probably closer to a full hour before our entrees arrived. As I stated before, the restaurant was not busy, and none of us ordered anything that should have taken a particularly long time to prepare. During the long wait, we received virtually no attention from our server. We did order one more drink, but other than that we were pretty much ignored. In the meantime, the couple at the next table, who were seated after us, received their entrees a good 20 minutes before us. When our food finally arrived our wine glasses were all empty, but no one asked if any of us wanted a glass of wine with our meals. By the time we finished our meals, we had been there for close to 2 hours and we had to leave due to babysitting issues. We didn't even have time for dessert. We asked for our check and then, after another interminable wait, had to flag someone down to pick it up. This in spite of the fact that they knew we had to leave. When we finally went out to get our car, of course the valet was no where to be found and we had to have someone track him down. An all too typical experience, unfortunately. The food was all very good, but not good enough to make up for the very poor service. It pretty much ruined what was supposed to be a special evening. We still enjoyed each other's company in spite of everything, but we would have been much happier at another restaurant. Rest assured, we will not be returning to the Weekapaug Inn. BTW - we are a nice group of professionals who were dressed appropriately, who weren't drunk, being loud or otherwise acting inappropriately. We enjoy fine dining, and go out together frequently. We ended up leaving a decent, although not stellar, tip because I really couldn't figure out who was at fault. The service from top to bottom seemed lacking. read more

Four of us had dinner here last night and everything was great. We sat on the deck and the view of the pond was spectacular. We then ordered cocktails and I asked for a martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. The waiter said they did not have them; however, I told him that I requested them on a previous visit and the bartender got them from the kitchen. He said he would check. When the drinks came my martini was perfect with the blue cheese stuffed olives. Exceed expectations again! We then ordered dinner which was casual but very nice. Food for all four of us was cooked just right. The hamburgers with bacon were delicious. Overall great service, very accommodating with very good food. read more

My husband and I have eaten three times at the Restaurant (at the Weekapaug Inn). The staff has provided excellent service every time - it is clear that high expectations are set by the management. For example, many of them used our names throughout the evening, and every staff member that delivered food and drinks to our table was attentive and professional. This is why I can't understand why the food is so bad? The first time we dined there everything that came out of the kitchen was over-sauced, and the food itself was very bland. The second time, our fish and chicken were both terribly overcooked, and the pacing of the delivery between app, main, and dessert was terrible. The third time, June of 2019, the food was (again) a huge disappointment. For example: cold asparagus soup with vermouth. It was almost unpalatable. The fish was cooked perfectly, but the flavors and textures were all wrong (mushy peas and clumps of breadcrumbs, for example). Dessert was an (underwhelming) lava cake with hazelnut ice cream, which was very good, AND a raspberry coulis. Separately, yes. Together? I'm not a fan of raspberry coulis and hazelnut ice cream as a pairing. The presentation on the plate is always beautiful - that, combined with the excellent service, is what has driven us to give The Restaurant so many chances. And, to be fair, if we had mentioned to our server that the food wasn't good they would have handled it beautifully, I'm sure. But we didn't, because it's not something they can fix. This is a systemic problem with the choices the chef is making so, sadly, we will not go back. read more

One of the many highlights of staying at the Weekapaug Inn is their breakfast and brunch! Every time we have stayed at the Inn there are some new and different entrees to try! You can't go wrong with any selection. My favorite from this trip was the Eggs Benedict - perfectly cooked poached eggs and their version has freshly steamed spinach! They serve Rhode Island's own Dave's Coffee - nice strong press pots of coffee on each table. Top Notch Service and attention to every detail! read more

I have never written a review but feel compelled to do so to aid other diners. My husband and I really enjoy fine dining so returning to The restaurant at Weekapaug Inn was a no brainer. We dined there a year ago and it was charming and delicious. What a difference a year makes. Food was bland and dishes were missing what was described in the menu. My entree of Lobster fricassee was terrible. It was overcooked and the lobster was rubbery and the scallop dumpling was more like a wonton. The staff was more than kind in comping the order but when they offered something else, I went with soup and it took twenty minutes to bring to me. It became comical. The restaurant proved to be a complete dinning disaster for a birthday celebration. My husband selected the Weekapaug Inn for a birthday getaway weekend celebration with my family and friends, booking rooms for everyone and a dinner in the restaurant. While the Inn itself was amazing, the dinning experience was a disaster. As a party of nine we were seated in a mostly private area of the restaurant ( their choice not ours) at a table completely missing an appropriate table setting. Compared to the way the rest of the tables in the restaurant were set, it seemed as though our party of nine was an afterthought. Being that the reservation had been made two months in advance and the restaurant being mostly empty there really was no justification for this. While the food was good, service was uninformed and torturously slow. Waiters delivered items to the table with out knowing what they were and orders were confused, guests actually ended up with items the did not even order. Unfortunately, our experience the next morning at brunch was the same. It's beyond comprehension that items everyone attending brunch would receive, could not be explained. There is much more to a great dinning experience than the food that is placed on the table and The Restaurant at Weekapaug Inn completely missed the mark. read more

This is for the bar only. I have been to the restaurant on several occasions and have had fantastic service and amazing food. Tonight, we visited the bar for a drink with a good friend. We waited at the bar for the bartender, John, to acknowledge us for about 10 minutes. Mind you, there were 3 other people at the bar. I ordered a glass on Pinot Noir... Which he quickly forgot and asked me if I wanted rosé. My husband ordered Balvenie Caribbean cask scotch. There wasn't a full serving left in the bottle, though. John proceeded to use the remainder of another different bottle of scotch to top of the drink. My husband called him out for this, and the bartender said he "was just trying to do him a favor." This is a $21 dollar drink... Under no circumstances should it be mixed with another alcohol and thought to be reasonable or a "favor." He continued to patronize us in front of other guests. He also embarrassed us when we got up to move seats to a couch no more than 4 feet from the bar, demanding payment because he was not "trying to find [us] later." Customer service was so poor we just felt unwelcomed and uncomfortable. I'll think twice about returning with guests. This experience was a total disappointment. read more

Had a delicious meal here the other evening- service was absolutely wonderful. There were wonderful gluten free options, I had a garden, vegetable salad to start and the risotto as my main dish which was fantastic. My date had the lobster bisque to start and the roasted chicken as his entree, and he was very satisfied by both. As I said, service was wonderful, our waiter was very friendly, helpful and attentive. The drinks were also delicious ( I had the "Block Island" which is like a margarita...highly recommend!) The Inn is absolutely stunning and it is just so nice to be there. We had taken an Uber there and when there were no Ubers available after we had finished dinner and drinks, we asked the concierge for help finding a taxi service. After much help from the staff at the desk, we discovered all the taxi services were closed, or too far away. The manager then offered us a ride home, as he was leaving shortly and headed in our direction--service that truly went above and beyond! The entire staff, particularly this manager named Chris, was so wonderful, helpful and accommodating. Thank you for a great evening! read more
