We stumbled upon this restaurant for a late dinner and decided to give it a try since it wasn't crowded. We grabbed seats at the bar, and the bartender was very friendly and welcoming. The artwork on the walls adds a fun, inviting vibe to the space. That said, the restroom could definitely use some attention--it wasn't very clean, and we noticed a few roof leaks. We ordered the flautas, which were delicious. My friend tried the catch of the day tacos, choosing the sautéed option over fried. Unfortunately, she didn't enjoy them at all and only took one bite. According to her, the flavor was off enough that she couldn't finish the dish. We didn't sample much from the menu or order drinks, so it's hard to give a comprehensive review, but this was our experience from last week.

We were looking for margaritas and tacos when we stumbled upon this place. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the bartender. We ordered a Golden Margarita and Paloma. The margarita was better of the two. For food we ordered nachos and 2 tacos. This is where it started going downhill for us. The restaurant started getting busier and the service became much slower. Our tacos were cold and the quality was more definitely not what I was expecting at a $9 a taco price point. The nachos were not much better, not a lot of toppings and the cilantro aioli was more like a salad dressing. I also didn't taste any cheese until several bites in. We were both disappointed in the food, especially at that price point.

Service is good. Menu limited. Angel was an attentive, but the art work is beautiful. 'Music is pretty good. Drinks were awesome, did their house tequila. We had their catch of the day taco, mahi-mahi tacos. Pretty good.

Carnitas tacos - the corn tortillas tasted stale and needed to be cooked. They tasted like they were fresh out of a package.

The ambiance was perfection - fun murals on each wall, cool light fixtures and good music. The flautas were delish but that's where the good food ended. The carnita tacos were hunks of pork with shredded cheddar on top and a scant amount of pickled red onion. They were too salty and lacked additional flavor. The fish tacos were also disappointing. The beef nachos had very little cheese on them and were drenched in sour cream. The service was slow and the waitress didn't notice that no one at the table took more than 2 bites of their entree.

Really great tasting drinks! Beautiful mural artwork on the walls! Busy busy as it was the Super Bowl. Still got a table but the wait for food was a while.. otherwise a cool spot!

Love this place. Great food and service plus great portions! Coming the best skinny margaritas I've found. The tacos were simply incredible and plentiful

I walked in, and the place was empty. Asked for guacamole and chips they had no guacamole. Ordered shrimp, ceviche and refried beans and chips . Is it me or does Puerto Rican food need salt? lots of shrimp in the ceviche, refried beans were good. Bartender service was great .

    Half price marg!

We entered, every server was busy, we saw one empty high table, settled ourselves and ordered fish tacos, Chicken Empanadillas, and a couple of drinks (Mojito & beer). Fish tacos were really good, the best we had in the old San Juan area. we were there for 50 odd minutes and went to another bar. the ambiance was good but can't say the same about service but as I said above- this is the scene in every other bar in that street. so this is normal there. also, happy hour is from 3 to 8 (like other bars) one thing to keep in mind- whatever the restaurant/bar/pub you visit in this area - your food order gonna take time, as these all are mostly there for drinks, of course, food items are there in the menu, but it's gonna more then usual time, so if you are hungry, try other restaurants. If you've had Paella in Spain, these Paellitas are the mini-version-don't-wanna-share as they are smaller in portion. However, it was well seasoned and the 3 pieces of shrimp on top were fat and plump (just how I like my shrimp!). Sit by the front and you can also people watch to your heart's content. Since I've always seen the long lines outside this store when I passed by, we decided that we try to go in as soon as it opened. So, we lined up around 11:30am. We barely waited much and we got seated. The server that day was quick/efficient/friendly despite the fact that she was running a one woman show. And the food arrived within a decent time. My friends and I decided to order the PUERTO RICAN PLATTER with a side of a side salad. This platter comes with everything you could want & maybe something that might be a bit adventurous for you to eat like blood sausage. Despite that, it's a nice platter to share and try a bit of everything. It's really nice that if you order for 4 people, they give you exactly the amount of pieces that are divisible by 4 (so everyone can try 1-2 pieces of each thing evenly). It also comes with a decent amount of rice/pork as a supplementation, which was nice. It's a balanced meal. And I think the side salad did well to balance out all the fried foods. Overall, we really enjoyed this place. It's a great place to come with friends/families to share. It's a great place as a visitor to try a bit of everything. The platter is a great introduction of puerto rican fried finger foods. And it all taste great! From the presentation of the food to the service here, it's all good. I would recommend this place to others.

It was still pretty, but I wished they did a bit more for the table back there to match the rest of the gorgeous interior. And as the cashier/register is also there by the back table, we had a lot of waiters moving in and out of our space to complete chores/tasks for other tables, which occasionally took away from the ambiance and immersion of the restaurant as our table felt like a prime hub. Again, this was only an experience for this table in the back, but something to note. Regardless, my group ordered two appetizers, a bottle of wine, and six entrees to get a full spread and taste of this nicer Italian dining. The Italian Sausage and Polenta appetizer was phenomenal - deliciously buttery, smooth, and a springy texture I've never experienced before. The bruschetta platter was good for what it was, but not stand out. I ordered the carbonara, and was disappointed. It was incredibly salty while lacking any other savory, spiced flavor. The noodles were cooked perfectly, but the salty pork and then further salted sauce overpowered anything else. I tried to salvage it with chili flakes and a lot of black pepper, but nothing could give it the rich flavor I was looking forward to or expecting. The ribeye, though, was phenomenal. Excellently executed, rich, juicy, perfect. Worth the money if that's in your budget. The other dishes were all delicious as well, and you can't go wrong with ordering any of them. I wouldn't recommend the carbonara, but I have seen other reviews rating it highly, so maybe I just got a hiccup this time. The waiters were kind and attentive when we asked for them. They seemed quite busy a lot of times, and it took a few rounds of them rush-leaving/coming back after we ask for us to be able to order cocktails or appetizers. It was also a busy night, so completely understandable. But overall, a really nice experience, and a beautiful date spot.

On our most recent vacation, we finally had the chance to experience it for ourselves, and it did not disappoint. The moment you walk in, it feels like you have stepped back in time. The old school dining room is simple and no frills, with basic tables and chairs lined throughout the space, but that is exactly what gives the place so much character and authenticity. It feels like a true piece of old Puerto Rico. And then there is the food. Absolutely delicious, authentic, traditional Puerto Rican cooking. Our family shared the Bistec Encebollado, Carne Guisada, Chuletas Fritas, tostones, white rice and beans, and arroz con gandules. We started with Alcapurrias and Pastelillos de Carne, and everything was packed with flavor. The portions may be a little smaller than what some people are used to, but the prices are very reasonable, which makes it easy to order several dishes and share everything family style. For me, this was more than just a meal.
