Went here once and it was horrible, food was okay, service was slow, and the only Ambiance was the the sunset, the place was definitely dated, and now that it's for sale (last I checked $6.5m) it's not worth it... great location for summer but the rest of the time no so good.... The food and service are really great and they will take great care of you to help you enjoy a birthday or other important celebration that you are most likely there for. I have only eaten here a couple times, but those couple times were absolutely delicious. It was quite cost though, but the employees had a beautiful smile on their face and the food was so scrumptious. They had wonderful and cocktails. They had wonderful appetizers, food and fish delightful. Let me tell you about these desserts. They are award worthy the cheesecake is culinary worthy and you'll ask for more and more. Dishes I tried: *oysters - I'm not a huge oyster fan to begin with so I'm biased; they were okay but kind of small. *fried calamari - really good in the way any fried food can be! *seafood Neptune - a platter of scallops, cod, salmon, mushrooms, potato cake, and broccolini, covered in a lobster sherry creme and vinaigrette. Also good, but not sure if everything only tasted good because the buttery sauce or because of the seafood itself *chowder - good especially with the crab! Overall the food itself was pretty good (you'll notice my adjectives remain limited to "good" because it's satisfying in a very normal way), BUT the prices are $$$ and with that extra dollar sign in there I kind of expect to feel like I'm getting a fine dining experience (or to obviously taste the difference in quality of the seafood). Someone else pointed it out in their review but I agree that it's weird that the tables are literally covered with butcher paper (it's not like Boiling Crab where we eat straight on the table). We use to go to Salty's for special occasions and my Favorite thing was to get a slice of their raspberry filled cake. During my birthday, my husband went and bought a slice. When he got home, we both noticed how small it was and since we had gotten it so many times before we thought it was unusual so we made it a point to call and inquire if they had made changes. The lady that answered the phone kind of just disregarded it completely with a condescending tone. I would assume companies would appreciate some feedback. read more

I looked here and on Google to decide where to have our last meal during our weekend escapade in Seattle. Was a non planned trip. The reasons changed and it became a sighting and adventurous weekend. And with such a positive vibe I wanted good seafood for my BF. He deserved an amazing place. So after the great reviews here I decided to see for myself (well, I said I hope is that good. But it was even better) The view, The Menu, The Location and an amazing waiter OKA, He made our visit memorable. I'm so happy I can't wait to go back. I love, love, loved the setting at Salty's going as soon as I dropped my belongings off at a nearby hotel. I wanted to get something local, and seafood, and with an amazing view as a bonus of Poverty Bay. Salty's didn't disappoint! Pricing was a bit steep, but the Dungeness Crab Cocktail was delicious! GREAT VIEW! The view can make up for alot! We've visited Salty's many times, and have always had a good experience. Our most recent visit was an anomaly, so I won't hate on this review. I love sitting outside on a sunny day, sipping drinks and hanging out. They have great happy hour eats, oyster shooters, clam chowder & more, I have a few go-to's when I visit, the Coconut Prawns as an appetizer and the Blackened Steelhead Caesar. The Caesar is served with candied pecans and it's lots of YUM! My most recent visit was to celebrate a birthday, and for alot of reasons, it took us hours to get through our meal. We came to celebrate my mother's birthday, which I told them about when making the reservation for Sunday brunch. Even though we had reservations we still had to wait 30 minutes. Our server, Blake, was unfriendly and inattentive. Never once did he smile. I had to ask for our plates to be cleared numerous times, had to ask for more water and even refilled the waters myself. Ordered a crepe with the busser because Blake did not come by our table. It took a really long time and had to ask about the crepe. When it finally arrived it was slimy and terrible. When we left there was no "thank you". Do yourself a favor and skip this restaurant. read more

I rate this 5 stars solely because we had such a great experience with our server Brad! He made the experience super enjoyable! He had a delightful personality, very funny and patient (I happen to be very indecisive and confused) I would 10000% recommend dining with him, he is a delight! I would honestly come back just to dine with him again. We went here for mid-week brunch, just had a whole bottle of wine and some cute appetizers. They were pretty delicious. We ordered 1 lb of Manila Clams, The Salty's Trio, and the Crab Mac & Cheese. The Manila Clams were good, they weren't the best but they didn't disappoint. The Saltys trio was a nice sized platter of coconut crushed shrimp, calamari, and crab cake. The crab cake was really good! All the sauces were also complimentary! The mac & cheese was more of an alfredo? They used penne noodles and the sauce was more alfredo than mac & cheese. Despite the specifics, it was soooo good! Overall, loved the experience. read more

Me and Lando got a gift certificate for Salty's for Christmas and decided to finally try the brunch buffet with it and we were not disappointed! From the service to the overflowing buffet this is definitely worth the $30 all you can eat brunch on Saturday and Sundays! I've been here a handful of times--from regular service, to holidays and brunches... and I have to say this place is awesome. They are located in the water at Redondo Beach, and most of the tables have a beautiful, serene view. The best value is DEFINITELY the brunch! They have a buffet that is to die for. Among raw oysters that are among the freshest I've tasted, to tasty crab legs, prime rib cut to order, bloody mary/mimosa bar (extra $), and varied hot food dishes like lox benedict, waffle bar, soup, sausage and biscuits (the biscuits are SO. GOOD.) and desserts. This place has it all. 4 stars given because, at times, the service can be slow, and the only seafood at brunch seems a bit limited, albeit delicious. This location seems to hire younger members of staff that are right on the brink of uncertain confidence (if you've ever been a server, you know what I mean!) Every has a great attitude though... so I can only hope one day to see more seafood options (like lobster) in future buffets! read more

Salty's sent a shuttle van all the way to the airport Marriott to pick us up. How cool is that? It's an indicator of the great service we were to have here. From the warm welcome of the hostess to the waiter who had a starter recommendation, everyone we dealt with here at Salty's was wonderful. Great seat by the window with a view of the rocky beach. I had the calamari to start. My friends each had a bowl of the clam chowder. All were good choices - the soup looked thick and full of clams. The calamari was taty and the big pieces went well with the tangy dipping sauce. For main, I chose the seafood fettuccine. Tons of rich sauce, scallops, shrimp and cheese on this pile of perfect al dente pasta. As you can see from the picture, there was a lot of seafood going on here. Delicious. We looked at the dessert menu but nothing really took my eye. I had a glass of the sweet white wine instead. Maybe related, maybe not. Five hours later, my stomach woke me up and most of the seafood decided to return for another visit. Ick. Maybe it was just too rich for me because one of my friends had the same and he was fine. Came here for Father's Day brunch. Was super excited to come here and try Seattle's famous seafood. But... it was a huge disappointment. Parking is across the street and limited spots for restaurant capacity. Didn't see an option for valet. Getting a reservation was almost impossible, which is ironic since the restaurant looked empty. I had to call 4-5 times and they were finally able to accommodate us at 1:15 pm. When we got there, could already tell buffet set up was a flop. Most of the hot food was cold or not refilled-- the prime rib had been sitting out since 8 am and was visibly overcooked and crispy like bacon. I came back to the buffet line multiple times for eggs Benedict and waffles and kept being told it was coming out... it never did. Seafood section was mediocre at best-- crab legs with no meat inside, warm ceviche & shrimp that wasn't ice cold (recipe for food poisoning), and oysters with no lemons or hot sauce in sight. Kids playing unsupervised with their hands in the dessert chocolate fountain. Utterly disgusting. We were seated outside, which was nice... but service was so slow and our plates piled up faster than they were picked up. They ran out of cloth napkins and forks at the end so we were given plastic cutlery. Can you imagine cutting through prime rib with a plastic butter knife? Had to ask multiple times for refills on coffee and soda. Everything about this place sucks. read more

Love coming to Saltys! It's our "go to" when we want to have a family brunch outing. They have a nice variety of hot dishes, salads, desserts a bloody mary bar and of course seafood! Peel n eat shrimp, mussels, cream cheese & lox. Especially enjoy the Dungeness crab legs & oysters on the half shell, YUMMM! The salad bar also included some appetizers like ceviche & 2 different kinds of fried shrimp which was really good & spring rolls. The Hot dishes include the usual breakfast fare of waffles, eggs, 2 different kinds of eggs Benedict, bacon, etc. with a carving station of prime rib, ham and another item. Seafood chowder. The other hot items incl. blackened salmon, clams, chicken satay, flank steak. Made to order pasta and omelettes. The Saltys on Alki is bigger with a little more variety but neither dissapoints. This is one of those places I dearly want to like more than I do... THE ROSES: Great location on the Redondo waterfront. We dined in the bar, which has a dandy maritime vibe to it. Fish and chips are nicely done and attractively presented. Grilled asparagus side dish is outstanding. Seafood chowder is very tasty, but has texture issues (see THORNS). THE THORNS: Mainly service issues. Server was pleasant, but lacked polish. Were seated at a table that she started to clean, but took off, leaving us looking at crumbs and her wiping cloth. She returned to hurriedly wipe off the table, sending the crumbs flying into my wife's lap. Service speed is definitely leisurely, almost glacial (but I do think they were a little understaffed). Pacing of courses was poorly thought out (see TOP TIPS). We were offered a dessert menu, and given one that was crumpled and filthy (hey guys, I know you print these things on an inkjet printer in the office. When one is looking tatty, THROW THE DAMN THING AWAY!). Previously mentioned seafood chowder, while tasty, was overly thick, almost like wallpaper paste (too much roux!). You can stand a spoon up in it! Prices are a little steep for what you're getting. TOP TIPS: (1) When not all members of the party order a starter, ask those who do if they want it before everyone has something to eat, or if they want it served with their main. Not everyone automatically wants to sit and watch their companions eat while they have nothing, K? (2) You serve fish and chips, you serve prawns and chips. Why not offer a deep-fried seafood combo (frequently known as a 'captain's platter')? I know I'd order it in a flash! THE VERDICT: Great location, ambiance, and good food is undone by too many goofy service issues. This restaurant, like Salty's Alki location, is relying a bit too much on location to sell it to diners. There are other midmarket seafood restaurants who do a better job. Still, this place has been around for decades, so it must be OK with the clientele. read more

A friend and I both ordered the "Crabby Monday" special, which was 2lbs of crab for $33.00. The crab was okay but we were very surprised and turned off to find most of it was very very dry... almost rubbery. As we continued to crack the crab we were both disappointed in the fact that some of the pieces were dark brown. I am not really worried about stuff like that but my friend wouldn't even eat the brown pieces. It grossed her out. I have to admit, this made it look aged and not fresh at all. I've never had crab that dried out. As for dessert, the creme brûlée was absolutely perfect. I would go back once a week just for that! My friend ordered the raspberry sorbet. It was so tasty, but the garnish on top was definitely not edible. I think it was crystallized sugar but it was so bitter and burnt. The service was good. However, our server's cardigan kept touching our food when she would reach over our plates to grab something. One thing I noticed was that all of the male employees wore all black and it was very easy to tell who worked there. However, the women tended to wear all sorts of colors and I was thrown off when a girl with a orange shirt started talking to us. I had no idea she worked there and it honestly looked unprofessional. It's been a decade since I've been back and now I remember why... if Salty's emphasis is salt then 5 stars. I ordered grilled simple white fish but it was not only over cooked, over salted but too many flavors... so confusing what they were going for it with too many flavors. Why over power that when you've got a nice fresh fish? Even my broccoli was over salted. Needless to say I sent it back and tried salmon instead. It was a little better cause it was less salty but way too much confusing flavors and no emphasis. The best part of the meal was the chowder. Balanced and flavorful. Happy hour price only $5. My favorite place for seafood. Place is right on the water with a beautiful view. At night the view isn't the same, best bet is to come early and watch the sunset. Seafood linguine is an amazing pasta dish that blends great fresh seafood with a balance not easily done. We had a pound of king crab for $50 and it was well worth it. Their chowder is also a must try. But the smartest people come for the all you can eat Sunday brunch that includes all you can eat king crab. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

We arrived here to a warm greeting and were seated promptly at table 1 for a wonderful and memorable evening. I have to say, the fillet mignon was cooked perfecly with a crisp char on the outside and so tender I could cut it with my fork. It was the best fillet I've had for years. I dare say it was better than the last fillet I had at Ruth Chris and that's saying something. I also enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes along with the brussel sprouts cooked to tender perfection. Then the dessert was something special too. The Creme Brulee was good but the White Chocolate Mousse Cake was what was special about dessert and something I might just go back again if I just want some desert. An unexpected adventure. One of my favorite seafood options around the south sound. Only had been here for dinner before but it was a beautiful afternoon so we wanted to come down to the water for a nice view with our meal. I called to get a table around 12:30 for what I expected to be lunch. The woman on the phone said they stop seating at 1 but she would put my name down and have a table ready since we were only 10 minutes away. Unfortunately the table wasn't ready when we got there and the hostess, though extremely friendly, didn't quite seem to know where to sit us. She started walking us to a table, then said she had to go check while we stood in the middle of the dining room unsure what to do. A server came and helped her out and pushed a table together for us. Which was perfect. After we sat we were informed it is actually towards the end of their brunch buffet. I had always wanted to go here for this buffet because I've heard such great things. We were all really pleasantly surprised. The buffet did not disappoint what so ever. Such a large amount of different dishes that gave a perfect mix of breakfast and lunch options. Even though it was towards the end of service & there wasn't even that many people there, the food was fully stocked and fresh. Everything tasted really great. Our server Andrew was super helpful & always coming to check on us and taking our multiple empty plates since we kept going back for more. I'm a visitor to the area and A local recommended this place with high praise. Started with a Trio app. Crusted shrimp calamari and crab cakes. Excellent sharing platter. Good quality ingredients. Langoustine truffle dip was very good but very light on the "truffle". Outstanding bartenders and severs. Endless selection of specialty cocktails and they make whatever you want. Amazing clam chowder with a float of sherry on top. Clams shrimps scallops. Entree Scallop dish served with Yukon mash and asparagus. Perfectly seasoned fresh and so tender. Great dish. Others at the table had a variety of dishes including a vegetarian dish, steak, fettuccine, and steelhead. The food was better than what I was expecting. We had oysters, chowder, fish and chips and Dungeness crab. The chowder was nice, not too thick, freshly made, and most of all a balance of flavor, not just clam or potato. The fish and chips were cod (that's what I like), where hot, crisp and flavorful. The fries are some of the best! The Dungeness crab was good, just a lot of work. Three down points. The Parking lot is unsafe. You wait for your table in a freezer (this is January), and the service is...fine (say it in a monotone voice). Once we asked our server for the Sunset menu, I don't think she cared about us. She didn't do anything "wrong", more of a food transportation unit. I was expecting to spend 50% more than I did, but she never asked me if I wanted anything. read more

8/3/2019 Our group, consisting of 9 people, had a 7:30 reservation on Saturday evening. It was a special occasion & the reservation was made well in advance. I wish I could write a 5 star review & recommend Salty's, but I can't. It was the single worst dining experience of my life. First, I ordered the "Made in Washington Manhattan". I was informed that they were out of the Woodinville Whisky used in that drink, but they could sub rye. Ok, that will be fine. Next, our table ordered apps: 2 steamed clams & 2 bread baskets. Our server informed us they were out of bread, so we ordered prawns. We also ordered salads. It took a very long time for those orders to arrive at the table. Our steamed clams didn't actually have any clams in them. The majority of them had fallen out & were at the bottom of the bowl. Just a bunch of empty shells on top. Apps & salads were eventually comped. Everyone ordered entrees. I had the filet, medium rare, with demi glace. A few others at my table ordered steaks, too. Our entrees finally reached our table at 9:45. The restaurant closed at 9:30. Our table was outside, so we were eating in the dark by then. My filet was over cooked & missing demi. The other steaks the table ordered were under cooked & also missing demi. I guess they were out of that as well. By time we left, it was almost 10:45. And after everything that went wrong the entire night, we were still presented with a bill for nearly $500. The entire meal should have been comped, without question. Our server & the manager on duty only made excuses as to why things were taking so long. They both blamed it on a party of 18 in the dining room. That's very unprofessional! Overall, the restaurant didn't appear to be very busy for a Saturday night. This was my first visit to Salty's, & also my last. It's supposed to be one of the premier dining destinations in the Seattle area. Instead, it was an over-hyped disappointment. We were billed for food quality & services that weren't provided. Expectations were not met. There are plenty of other great restaurants in Seattle. Avoid this one like it's the plague! read more

Salty's is a nice seafood place, literally on a dock over the water (well the patio anyways haha). I had some time to kill as I was waiting for a flight. I sat at the bar and had a pretty good time. The beers on tap were super cold and the food that came out was piping hot. I had the half crab and shrimp Louie, the seafood chowder, and the oysters. the Louie as amazing, probably the best Louie I've ever had. Perfect amount of dressing, ample seafood, and not some giant bowl of lettuce. I also had something I've never had before... When they served the seafood chowder, they poured sherry over the top. Let me tell you, I will now be asking for this at places, and shaming those that do not offer it!!! The service here was on point too. But then again, that's why I choose to eat at the bar.
