After nearly 18 years of taking my dogs to another veterinary hospital (Washington Blvd. Animal…read moreHospital in Whittier), I finally reached my limit with the declining level of service and decided to seek a second opinion for my dog, who had been sick for over a month with no answers. I am so glad I found Lakewood Pet Vet. From beginning to end, the experience was completely different. They were able to get two of my dogs in for appointments the very next day, and the level of care, attention, and compassion we received was outstanding. Amanda at the front desk was sweet, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Sylvia, who handled their intake and vitals, was equally kind and caring and took the time to be very detailed. Dr. Dang was wonderful--thorough, knowledgeable, gentle, and tender with my dogs. What really blew me away was that Dr. Dang's initial diagnosis was right on target even before all of the lab results came back. She immediately began treating my dog for a deep ear infection, a UTI, and both yeast and bacterial infections on her paws. After FOUR visits to our longtime vet in ONE MONTH and repeatedly being told they couldn't find anything wrong, finding out that my dog actually had several issues requiring treatment was astonishing and incredibly upsetting. The follow-up care has been just as impressive. I received a call that same evening to check on how my dogs were doing. Dr. Kai, who was on duty, also called to personally go over the test results and check on them. Then, to my surprise, Amanda called again later that afternoon to follow up. When I told her one of my dogs was still showing signs of distress, she immediately relayed that information to the veterinarian on call, who later contacted me with additional recommendations. This is what veterinary care should feel like. Lakewood Pet Vet has truly exceeded my expectations. My dogs are still ill, and it's only been two days since treatment began, so we're not out of the woods yet. But after spending more than a month searching for answers, simply knowing that their problems have finally been identified and are actually being treated has given me tremendous peace of mind. For the first time in weeks, I feel hopeful that we're moving in the right direction. Crossing my fingers that my babies continue to improve! Thank you to Amanda, Sylvia, Dr. Dang, Dr. Kai, and everyone at Lakewood Pet Vet for making us feel like my dogs' health genuinely matters.

The front office was accommodating when I had to schedule then reschedule for the next day. All of our family was allowed to be with our dog in the examination room from the start until the end. They let us spend as much time as we wanted, respectfully speaking quietly and giving us space. Dr. Lee was very considerate in going over our decision, taking the time to give us the step by step actions for the procedure. Veterinary Technician (Joy) was helpful and gentle with the dog - she had to lift and carry him and he's 11 plus kilograms or 25 pounds. Staff (Sara) also helpful in explaining the breakdown of fees and the process for the cremation after. The office uses cash free payment and can print or email your receipt. In The end, this was best for our dog, he was unable to walk on his own and stopped eating just days prior. The whole procedure went smoothly and he passed without struggling. The office also accepted his partial and open dry dog food, we also left behind his pillow and blankets. I hope that these will be useful for other animals.

He has great compassion & expertise in his field. I really like him. However, getting an appointment is pretty much impossible the same month. You can go in a as walk in, but I must warn you, you will spend hours waiting. Even when you have an appointment, you must first text the number on the window to let the office staff know your in the parking lot. Then in turn, even if you have a time scheduled appointment, you must wait in your car to be asked in. Sometimes more than a half hour later. I wish they had a better system, it's very uncomfortable for an animal having to wait so long to be seen, not to mention the inconvenience to the human. I have tried the drop off system in the past too. I dropped my dog off at 9:00am and by 3:00pm she had not even been examined! They have plenty of staff members on site, so I'm confused as to why the delay when the dog has been there all day! Because of the overbooking or walk ins may take priority (even if not an emergency) has led me to seek other alternatives. The additional cost out weigh my anxiety & frustrations when my dog needs help. I leave this review to help others make up their own minds. I'm sorry to say good bye, but care is needed to address these problems.

I took my do today because he's being wining I explained to her and she keeps asking like what's wrong with your dog I'm like that's why I'm here for hello for you to figure out. She keeps saying talk to your dog the assistant was holding him but she really didn't care at all. First this guy came inside the waiting room and trust me he didn't care at all he asked is he going to bite I said maybe then he went to get a muzzle and never came back. Then the doctor came back. She hear his heart, touch his body and said he might be in pain and that he would need test for a diagnosis. The assistant came back and gave a price of $50 for pain medication and it would cost me $961 for test just to get a diagnosis. This is absurd and ridiculous I said no thanks. I paid $75 for nothing. I called back before they closed and I said I'm taking my dog back because I think he has an ear infection as I've this sign in the past and yes it turned out to be but I said I'm not paying again she put me on hold for some minutes and she said yes you can bring him back and his ear can be check but if the doctor is not able to see his ear he would need to sedate for $150. So somehow they would get $ of me, hm I don't think so. So this tells you that if she is not able to figured out what's wrong with my dog what kind of vet this lady is. I wonder how they got their license and all the so called 5 star experiences I think somehow they're just fake. If you love your pet don't take him/her there even if the last place in earth. Fake doctors and I said it again they don't like pets they just love your $. First and last time I go to that place.

He is not interested to get your money which is very rare nowadays. I recently brought my two cats to this clinic as a follow up to my visit with another veterinarian (more on this later). Dr. Choi recommended what is ONLY necessary to be done and he did not force any extra tests or services. In fact I asked for other tests and he said those are not necessary. He could have made more money but he's not interested in that. What a good person! Another amazing thing is that he himself called me for the results. When I asked when I need to come back for the next check up, he said my cats are in good shape so I can bring them again after one or two years. That is very rare nowadays because most providers wants to make the most money out of their patients. CONTRAST this with my experience with VETCO hospital where the receptionist slash sales gimmick specialist was very aggressive in forcing me to agree to more exams that are expensive! Good thing that I am a healthcare professional myself so I know that those tests are unnecessary.

He had localized cancer in one limb and we chose amputation and he lived happily for years with careful follow up within this clinic and was put down with compassion and love when his time came to cross the rainbow bridge. We were mailed a note from staff along with his cremation which we still have. I brought my now senior cat (17 years old) here and did not feel the same kindness and I'm very disappointed and miss the previous team. I was informed we're starting with blood work but his symptoms may indicate neurological up to and including a brain tumor. I do not disagree with this assessment or recommendations as I work in the medical field and brought him in for these concerns. With that said, there is a way to deliver this information with kindness (as I previously received by Dr Gambles practice for my other cat) that was not delivered today. I inquired prior to my appointment if it would have to be a drop off appointment and they said no, exams are with the pet parent present however my cat needed blood work. Feisty as he is, he would need sedation. This sedation I was told was only gas. I'm certainly aware this does not require hours of recovery but I understand the need for drop off. However, I was told they would call me when pickup is ready and I told the tech I need some time frame. I was informed it would be 6+ hours "because we have other clients". I could understand if the rational was sedation for a period of time, but to keep my cat, in distress for being at the vet, for 6+ hours for blood work due to other clients when I made an appt discussing my concerns before coming seems excessive. Upon my question for this concern my cat was just brought out to me. I appreciate this as I do not want my cat in care where his time isn't considered as my main concern is his comfort especially in his age and condition. Overall, I won't be returning. I'm very disappointed in the care that has changed at this clinic. This is not the care that would have ever been delivered with Dr Gamble. **follow up, my cat had an appt with a different clinic and got blood work twice with me present in the room. He was treated with compassion which led to him being compliant without sedation. Additionally, the vet heard a heart murmur that was not discussed at the conclusion of this previous vet assessment. This makes me question the thoroughness of the assessment and the need for sedation as I was not present when they stated they attempted blood work.

Animal hospital in Gardena on Artesia. They were so wonderful unhelpful and coming with solution alternative to try to help save my pet. Thanks to them. He's at home doing so much better. I would not recommend coming to VAC Lakewood Hospital at all the day I was there, I saw about five people crying because they had to put their animal down which did not sit well with me. I thought veterinary hospitals were supposed to be a place that cared for animals and showing compassion. They took my money close to $400 in hopes that I would euthanize him. Once I changed my mind and said I was gonna take him home and talk about it with my family members. She said sorry I can't give you your money back. We already dropped it in the safe. This place is not a place to take your furry family member at all.
