If you really love your pet don't bring them here. Brought my dog told them he's gagging here and there, his heart beat feels more intense his head is rocking with his heart beat rythm. They took my dog inside you have to wait outside, then the doctor called said he has a cough and just hung up on me in the middle of my questions. Employee comes out with my dog antibiotics and pills for cough and charges me $260.00. I was convinced that was the problem trusting the vets diagnosis. He was getting worst I called they said finish giving him his meds. 2 weeks later my lil guy let out a cry and horrifically died in my arms bloody foam pouring out his mouth as I was walking in the emergency. He had heart issues and was drowning in his own fluids. I trusted the vet and ended up having to put him down because the emergency wanted like $5000 first before doing anything for him he passed looking into my eyes. I only put one star because 0 stars ain't an option. read more

I highly recommend this Veterinarian. Pleasant, professional, no-nonsense and the source of myriad veterinary and animal and human facts! Even when I arrived at the clinic after - after hours, he took enough time examining my pet (ear infection), explained the treatments that were required to clear it up, and after providing both the info and medication, he stopped to give more info about what ails dogs the most and why. ( FYI Top three reasons: 1 - skin disorders 2 - diarrhea/vomiting & 3 - ear infections). I appreciated being given the information, not in a condescending manner either, but in a very friendly "I'm your really nice Uncle and your dog's best friend" manner. I thought it was sweet too that he shared some of his life experience - who knew Dr. Gerri as a person of mixed Irish-Italian heritage and that he failed to enter Cornell the first time he tried? Or that he assisted his Professors in a study of the frequency of UTI's in human subjects? Yeah it was that sort of clinic visit . I left with a smile and my dog left with a bag of medications. Total cost of visit $ 116, the interaction with Dr. Gerri- priceless. read more

Dr. Citek knows his stuff. He has several Newfoundland dogs, so he's very familiar with giant breed dogs. His office is nothing fancy and he is the only vet on staff. Also, he doesn't take appointments, you just walk in and wait. The good news is that his prices are incredibly reasonable, and he wont recommend things you don't need. His office isn't full of items he's trying to sell to you, and he basically just cuts to the chase. I'd absolutely recommend Dr. Citek to any dog owner. I don't have a cat, so I have no clue how he is with the felines, but he is a definite dog lover. read more

Good vets are hard to find, and I'm glad I found Dr. Citek. I love his no-nonsense approach to everything. What I like best is the way he runs his office. He's open late on weekdays and you just walk in and wait. When your pet is sick, you can't wait 2 days for an appointment, take off time from work all the while she's throwing up all over the place. Dr. Citek really understands the needs of pet owners. The care is excellent and his costs are reasonable. The staff is friendly, and they remember me and my dog (does that mean we go there too often?), which makes me feel welcome. read more

I've visited Dr. Citek only once, but he impressed me with his normality. No upselling: That was nice. He treated my bunny Senor, which, after cursorily examining him, informed me should be named Senorita. He correctly diagnosed the bunny as having a virus and prescribed some antibiotics, but he let me know that he wasn't a bunny expert. He consulted his well-thumbed textbook a couple times, the kind that I've wanted to get my hands on for years. I took down the name of that book and within days, bought it from Amazon. I visited Dr Citeks office a few times for my dogs rabies vaccinations and was always satisfied. However , when I brought my Labrador in with a large lump in her back I was told that the only way to find out what it was was to pay a mimimum $600.00 for a surgery that may or may not fix the problem whatever it is and the price could go up from there. I took her to another vet and was she was ultimately diagnosed as having an infected hair follicle and they removed it for $200.00 including follow up and medications. read more

Dr Gerry is the best vet! He was recommended by the animal rescue I got my first dog about 20 years ago. And now I take my second dog (baby) to him for the past six years. He's highly trained and very knowledgeable and keeps up with the latest research and information for animal care and medicine. I live near LAX and traffic is usually jammed but the drive is worth the cost and effort because he really is the best! read more

I initially found Dr Citek to be an excellent vet with good communication and excellent service a couple years ago. Now he appears to be burnt out with very little communication, a cursory exam, then disappears and then after a long wait a tech to appears to explain the dr's diagnosis and treatment plan and the price for his treatment. No chance to ask questions about the treatment options unless you wait another long time for another brief, encounter with Dr Citek. He really is an excellent and very knowledgable vet, but he just doesn't seem to care anymore. It's all about selling products and services now at a very high price. Office visit $20.00 for the priviledge of waiting 1 and 1/2 hrs then $350 in blood work, xrays and joint products for a young GS dog with a common, self resolving growing pain lameness. His staff is very uncaring and rude now as well. I am sad to see the decline with this Vet and his office read more

It is with great sadness that I write this review. 10 years ago it would have been 5 stars plus. Dr. Citek was amazing, he helped us through my Rottweilers cancer and when we had to make the most difficult decision as a pet owner. This is why when we got our new puppy it was a no brainer to take him to him. At first it was great, he really taught my children about being responsible pet owners, gave us books to read and gave great advise. The problem is not with Dr, Citek himself, we started to notice that the staff was somewhat rude to the doctor himself. We called two weeks ago to schedule our puppy's neutering at Dr. Citeks recommendation to help improve our puppy's future health. They told us it was walk in, same day. I took off work and took him in, the. They told me he had to have a blood test first ( dog is barely 1.5 years old) $120 then come three days later and pay another $240 for surgery(this is just neutering)plus additional charge for Fridays when I asked to speak to Dr. Citek, I was told that "he says a lot of things, but it does not mean anything, he has an office manager over him that makes all the decisions". HOLS THE PHONE!!!! Are you telling me there is a non DVM making decisions about my dogs treatment? Where is their DVM license, where is their degree from Cornell (that's right that's Dr. Citek ) who no longer makes decisions at the clinic. THIS DOCTOR IS THE BIGGEST SCAM OF A VET YOU WILL EVER MEET. He does a complete and utter dis-service to society. We spent 5 months with Citek attempting to find a diagnosis for our small dog. Every time we went in it was always the same tests with no answers. I had to literally spell out (typed out on two pages) every last detail of the dogs sickness on our last visit for him to have a basic clue about what might be wrong with our baby. And still, his suggestion was that the dog be operated on....for what? I couldn't tell you, because he sure as hell had no idea, even though our dog was in his final stages of illness. When it came down to the last days of our dog's life, we requested a refill on our dog's pain medications, which he REFUSED to supply unless we came in for another visit and agreed to do blood work in preparation for surgery. CITEK'S ONLY INTEREST IS MAKING MONEY, REGARDLESS OF THE SUFFERING YOUR ANIMAL MAY BE IN. HE PLAYS ON EMOTIONS, AND WILL ATTEMPT TO FORCE YOU TO COME IN FOR VISITS AND PAY FOR MORE TESTS, even when the prognosis is clear. He will rush you in and out, put your animals in pain, and KNOWINGLY milk you for all the money you have. He doesn't even call your pets by their names. We took our dog to another vet to be put to sleep, as he was in so much pain and we had no answers from Citek. This new vet was able to tell us within 30 seconds EXACTLY what was wrong with our baby, and explained that he was beyond hope, since his illnesses were not treated sooner. He also explained that we did have the option of pain medication, which was previously refused to us by Dr. Citek unless we agreed to pay up to $400 for another visit and pointless surgery. This second vet explained to us that if surgery had been pursued at that stage, as Dr. Citek was hoping to do, our dog would not have been able to wake up from the anesthetic. We decided that after 5 months of trouble and pain, it was best to put our baby to sleep. AND ASIDE FROM ALL OF THIS, his receptionist, who obviously hates working at the clinic, made two comments to me over the course of the time I was there, the first being that she did not enjoy working with animals and the second being that she is very inexperienced and fresh out of school. His receptionist was completely unsympathetic to the needs of our pet and our family. This is a disgrace of an office, and the office is already under fire for having unsanitary practices. Save yourselves the trouble and do not trust them with your beloved pets. These people really could not care less. read more

Dr. Citek is awesome and I have recommended him to several people. I drive past several vet clinics to take my cat there. I first went there when my last cat had a puncture wound--one vet quoted me almost 900.00 (to remove teeth, tons of lab work, overnight stay, etc.) and when I took my cat to Dr. Citek, he took care of Buttons within hours and for less than 200.00 and no unneccessary procedures. I will take my pets there as long as I am within driving distance. It's not just the reasonable prices, he really is about the pets' health. I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Citek has been our vet through 3 dogs and 4 cats...ever since he opened his first office in Norwalk. He's not only knowledgeable about his profession, he's an encyclopedia of information regarding any dog, cat, snake, bird, barn owl...he's amazing. He has a laid back attitude; however, I have never doubted how much he cared about my animals. He currently has a great staff...had a few bumps with rude office workers a few years ago. We wouldn't take our animals to anyone else. And his rates are competitive. We're moving out of state soon and this is one Southern Californian we are definitely going to miss. read more

Been going with my cats and grandmother's lap dogs for many years. Dr. Gerri is a no-nonsense, get to the facts type of person. Extremely confident, he knows health care for animals. Studied back east and with some of the most prominent leaders in the field. That said, his bedside manner is a bit "House-esk." For those who may have missed it, I am referring to the TV show 'House' where a drug dependent doctor is the most brilliant diagnostician in the country, and also the most cynical ("Everybody Lies"). Dr Gerri doesn't give a crap about anything other than getting your animal back to as healthy as possible. Great if that's 100%, but he's practical about the prognosis and will be truthful about it without sugar coating his words. If he believes your pet will end up with a limp, a lump or only has 6 months left on this earth, so be it. He knows what the practice can do and what it can't. If that kind of reality makes you run away and hide, perhaps you would be better off at another vet who's going to suck up to your delicate feelings at the expense of your animal friend. I suspect that's where the negative reviews are coming from. If he can see in an instant what is most likely the cause and he knows the fix like the back of his hand, why should he spend 20 minutes with you and your opinions? Let's treat and get on with it. (that's what your sick dog would say if he could talk, btw) Your ignorant questions are not going to influence him, nor should they. He is the expert let him do his job. I do taxes. Your information from some Google news story is not going to change my approach to the application of tax law. Get 10 years of experience in the field then we can have meaningful discourse. But I digress. Other negative reviews are about the prices. Labs are expensive. Meds are expensive. His office visits are $20. Surgeries are a fortune. (try pet insurance for 15-30/month if need be, but don't blame the doctor for the price of medicine in this country) In terms of wrong diagnosis, its like taking your car in, different mechanics will find different things wrong and even have slightly different approaches to the repair; some just keep changing parts until you're happy, others have a more thorough diagnostic method which takes longer and requires more experience. I do not believe Dr Gerri is in the business to rip people off with unnecessary procedures or unethical diagnosis for profit. He has many pets and they are part of his family just like ours are. His entire world is animals. That said, he is not a volunteer, he has employees to pay and house payments to make. Get out of his way, cough it up, and on the way he may just extend the life of your best friend. read more
