After nearly 18 years of taking my dogs to another veterinary hospital (Washington Blvd. Animal…read moreHospital in Whittier), I finally reached my limit with the declining level of service and decided to seek a second opinion for my dog, who had been sick for over a month with no answers. I am so glad I found Lakewood Pet Vet. From beginning to end, the experience was completely different. They were able to get two of my dogs in for appointments the very next day, and the level of care, attention, and compassion we received was outstanding. Amanda at the front desk was sweet, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. Sylvia, who handled their intake and vitals, was equally kind and caring and took the time to be very detailed. Dr. Dang was wonderful--thorough, knowledgeable, gentle, and tender with my dogs. What really blew me away was that Dr. Dang's initial diagnosis was right on target even before all of the lab results came back. She immediately began treating my dog for a deep ear infection, a UTI, and both yeast and bacterial infections on her paws. After FOUR visits to our longtime vet in ONE MONTH and repeatedly being told they couldn't find anything wrong, finding out that my dog actually had several issues requiring treatment was astonishing and incredibly upsetting. The follow-up care has been just as impressive. I received a call that same evening to check on how my dogs were doing. Dr. Kai, who was on duty, also called to personally go over the test results and check on them. Then, to my surprise, Amanda called again later that afternoon to follow up. When I told her one of my dogs was still showing signs of distress, she immediately relayed that information to the veterinarian on call, who later contacted me with additional recommendations. This is what veterinary care should feel like. Lakewood Pet Vet has truly exceeded my expectations. My dogs are still ill, and it's only been two days since treatment began, so we're not out of the woods yet. But after spending more than a month searching for answers, simply knowing that their problems have finally been identified and are actually being treated has given me tremendous peace of mind. For the first time in weeks, I feel hopeful that we're moving in the right direction. Crossing my fingers that my babies continue to improve! Thank you to Amanda, Sylvia, Dr. Dang, Dr. Kai, and everyone at Lakewood Pet Vet for making us feel like my dogs' health genuinely matters.

The front office was accommodating when I had to schedule then reschedule for the next day. All of our family was allowed to be with our dog in the examination room from the start until the end. They let us spend as much time as we wanted, respectfully speaking quietly and giving us space. Dr. Lee was very considerate in going over our decision, taking the time to give us the step by step actions for the procedure. Veterinary Technician (Joy) was helpful and gentle with the dog - she had to lift and carry him and he's 11 plus kilograms or 25 pounds. Staff (Sara) also helpful in explaining the breakdown of fees and the process for the cremation after. The office uses cash free payment and can print or email your receipt. In The end, this was best for our dog, he was unable to walk on his own and stopped eating just days prior. The whole procedure went smoothly and he passed without struggling. The office also accepted his partial and open dry dog food, we also left behind his pillow and blankets. I hope that these will be useful for other animals.

It's super easy to use, and once you fill it out, it gives you an estimated wait time and even shows your place in line. We usually wait in the car, and they call us when it's time to head over, then again once the room is ready. I love that system it's convenient and keeps everything running smoothly. The front desk staff has always been kind and welcoming. I've honestly never had a bad experience with anyone there. Yesterday, the girl to my right with glasses was especially awesome (I didn't catch her name), and the girls who helped me later that night when I picked up Molly were great too. Thank you to Dr. Choi you did an amazing job explaining everything and we appreciate you for doing mollys surgery. you were great with us and I'm really glad we met you. Also a big thank you to Tanya, the vet tech who went over Molly's medications with me when I picked her up. You were incredibly helpful. I'm truly grateful for everyone who helped take care of Molly.

One issue with this clinic is the wait time. Since they don't take appointments, I understand that some waiting is expected, but the wait is consistently ridiculous. When you join the waitlist it's usually about a 4+ hour wait depending on what time of day you come in, on top of that, waiting in the exam room for the doctor to come in and when they take your pet to the back. Almost every part of the visit seems to take forever, I recently came in for my cat at 12pm and spent about 3 hours there for some diarrhea. My biggest concern I have is how much they try to upsell additional tests and services. It feels like they purposefully recommend expensive things that don't seem necessary for the issue you originally came in for. For example, I brought my cat in for a hotspot on his paw and was told they wanted to do an X-ray, which I did not feel was necessary for what was going on. I used to volunteer at a vet clinic and go to school to become a veterinarian, so animal care and medicine is not new to me. However, someone without that experience might feel pressured to agree to all of these unnecessary tests because they want to do everything they can for their pet. Also money is not an issue since my cats have insurance, another expample is that they tried quoting me for an xray&ultrasound for my cat that has diarrhea (no other symptoms), only to find out from the fecal test that he has an infection. And then after I already paid they tried calling me to run more unnecessary tests even though they saw in his blood test results that his levels were perfectly fine. They also took forever to approve my cats medicine on Chewy for said diarrhea when he was feeling so sick, probably because they weren't getting the money for it so they didn't want to approve it The staff is pretty nice though, maybe one or two can catch some attitude here and there, but the new Doctor Hyeonji Seo seems very knowledgeable about animal medicine and doesn't try to upsell additional tests to scam clients so hopefully she sticks around for a while to help these other pets.

We had the privilege of seeing Dr. Kang which is a good thing since Charley feels quite comfortable with her. He's two and a half (90 lbs) and he's quite the active dog when he's at the vets office. Dr. Kang and the rest of the ladies made me feel at ease when Charley was showing excitement. Thank you ladies! Dr. Kang is by far patient, thorough, knowledgeable, and professional. She takes the time to examine everything about your pet and explains in detail. This is Charley's second visit with her; she diagnosed him and prescribed what was needed. NAH has its own parking lot. They require leashes on doggies and kitties in crates. Prices tend to be reasonable compared to others. They review the costs before proceeding with care. Charley has visited at least six times (one visit was for vaccines). Shout out to the wonderful employees who are in the back room fixing up and caring for all pets. Thank you kindly!
