I really hesitated to write this review because I initially thought David Langit was a nice person, but ultimately I was really disappointed in my entire experience. On April 22, I went in and showed David mushroom blonde hair as my goal because I was taking maternity photos soon and wanted something a little more subdued. He assured me that it was possible. However right towards the end, he told me, with color in hand already, that he wasn't going to tone the color I wanted because it would show grays more easily. I felt like I didn't really have an option but decided to trust him. When my hair finished, the front two pieces looked good, but when I washed my hair two days later, I just felt like the rest was nothing like what I had wanted. It was overly yellow and not ashy at all. Still, I didn't want to cause problems, so I went ahead and did my photos the following weekend (May 2 -- 10 days since the appointment). When I got my final photos back from the photographer this week, I was horrified. I have been doing balayage on my hair for years & a huge section of orange hair just 10 days after my dye appointment is NOT normal. There was a clear band of orange hair that had not lifted enough. With a lot of hesitation, I reached out to David to ask if he could fix it, but he said I had to have contacted him within two weeks and now he would have to charge me again. I tipped 20% on a $500 bill and spent $600+ just to have orange hair. My photos clearly showed that just 10 days after my appointment, my hair was already orange. The only reason I waited until now was because I didn't want to bother him... It shocked me that he felt this was a fair resolution. I felt like if he could have at least lifted the sections he missed without charge then I could at least get by with evenly colored hair even if it wasn't ashy. After reaching out to other stylists for help, one told me that whoever did my hair shouldn't be charging me for a fix because "they didn't finish their job" and another told me that it was clear that he had missed a chunk. To me this shows that this was an actual issue that is clearly visible to other stylists, and David was choosing to ignore it. Overall I was saddened by this experience more than anything else. I was under the impression that he was a professional who cared about the quality of his work, but it's now clear that was not the case. I'm disappointed that I trusted him with my hair because not only does it look terrible, but it ruined my photos as well. read more

After our Seattle trip got canceled, my partner and I decided to pivot and spend the weekend in San Diego, no plans, just going with the flow. By Saturday morning, we found ourselves in North Park... and it was hot. I wasn't feeling my best and honestly just needed a reset, so I looked up nearby salons and decided to try my luck as a walk-in around 11 AM (while my partner watched the game at a bar nearby). To my surprise, I was greeted so warmly as soon as I walked in and was able to get a seat right away. The salon itself was so cute and full of character, each station had these unique doors framing the mirrors, and no two were the same. It really added such a fun, personal touch to the space. I kept it simple with a wash and blowout, but it completely turned my day around. The products they used smelled amazing and left my hair feeling so soft. The stylist I had was incredibly sweet and welcoming (I wish I had caught her name but I do remember she was originally from Boston, lol). Not only did she take great care of me, but she also shared some great recommendations in the area. Scheduling online was super easy, and I was able to get a next-day appointment with Vanessa. The salon has a really cute vintage vibe and feels spacious and comfortable. After a choppy haircut from another salon I was desperate to get it fixed. I figured it was a long shot but asked if they had any openings today and they actually did! I got Haylee and thank god. She reassured me that she also saw the choppy face framing layers and came up with a plan to fix and blend. Not the salon for me, I got a really choppy style that I didn't ask for. I think there was either miscommunication about goals or my stylist did not listen clearly to what I wanted despite going in detail. I said I wanted a trim and some invisible layers to get my hair some shape but keep as much length as possible since I was trying to grow it out, no trim was given and stylist glowed about how she kept all my "length" but instead of doing what I asked gave me a ton of short whispy layers and ended up cutting a lot of hair. Also the cut didn't work well with my fine and relaxed hair type--now my hair doesn't wave right because of the short layers and it looks really thin when worn straight. It's been 5 months now of growing it out and I have yet to have a single good hair day since--be warned lol read more

In response to the owners tacky comment and lies: I was not charged a cancellation fee like she's claiming on google. It was 100% of the service. And I was not 38 mins late. That's when I texted their number (since they are not customer friendly and do everything by text). I was sitting in their waiting area for some time before getting up to ask someone who was doing hair nearby. Apparently the person who I booked with took off. Interesting because I thought she was so busy and I cut into her very booked day. When I booked 2 days prior she had her entire afternoon open. I thought it was SO difficult to book up time slots in such a short notice? But not in this case because it makes the owner look like she doesn't value her customers. Another LIE is saying I hadn't been there since 2023. I was nice enough to add proof below Bottom line is they don't value their customers, and even blast their first and last name putting not only their privacy on the line but also threatening their safety. What's the point in you doing that? An absolutely terrible salon with policies and ethics that are not geared towards their customers. I've been a client here for years and the one time I mis-read an email and arrived at 11:30 vs 11:00, mind you they don't do courtesy calls. I live right down the block and if I knew I misread my appointment time I would have came right away. Whoever texts through their main number showed no grace or understanding. Not only a cancelled appointment but they charged for the full service?! This is a policy that my bank will be disputing against as it's unlawful and disgusting. I didn't feel welcome here when I came to get my bangs trimmed by Marissa. She had requested to move my appointment, which I agreed to. When I came in, she seemed to be in the middle of doing someone else's hair. She had the client get out of her chair and take her color soaked towels off the chair with her, and then had me sit down directly after without a wipe down or anything. Mid-cut she either seemed rushed or irritated and said "if you have someone you go to for your bangs, you should stick with them." I came to see her because I was interested in finding a new hairdresser, and wanted to check her out via a bang trim. I felt like she didn't want me there, and I was just itching to get out of the salon after she said that. read more

I had the most awful experience at Salvage Salon and do not recommend their services. I recently moved to San Diego and had previously been seeing the same hairdresser for 10+ years in another state. Finding a new hairdresser is scary so I researched many hair salons and then spoke with Salvage's manager before scheduling my haircut in order to discuss my apprehension. I was reassured by the manager that I would be in great hands. I explained to the manager that I wanted to donate my hair and was feeling especially nervous because to do so required a radical change in the length of my hair. I made it clear that I did not want to length to be shorter than the tops of my shoulders. The manager recommended a hair stylist named Taylor. I scheduled a consult with Taylor and verbally explained desired length and hair style and showed Taylor two photos of my desired cut. I explained that I wanted shoulder length hair with a blunt cut and expressed my concern that my hair might not be long enough to donate and achieve this shoulder length, blunt cut. I needed to donate at least 8" of hair and Taylor assured me that I had enough hair to donate and achieve the shoulder length, blunt cut I wanted. Taylor suggested we section my hair into pigtails to preserve length when I donate my hair. Our consult made me feel like I was in good hands. During my hair cut appointment, Taylor sectioned my hair into pigtails, so it was ready to donate. I suggested we section my hair into 4 ponytails so we can preserve more length. Taylor assured me that 4 ponytails were unnecessary, and the pigtails would be enough for me to achieve my desired shoulder length cut. Taylor cut the pig tails and the look on her face suddenly and obviously changed to an expression of worry. Taylor cut my hair into a lopsided bob that was longer in the front and uneven in the back. The length in the front was to my chin, not to my shoulders as I had stressed I wanted. The length in the back was a short bob and to my ears. She said she could no longer do a blunt cut because the hair was so short which is exactly what we had discussed during my consult at which time I made it clear what I wanted and she made it clear what she intended to do. Instead of cutting 8" long ponytails to donate, Taylor cut 11.5" long ponytails. How does an experienced stylist cut off an extra 3.5"? When she was done with my hair cut, the back of my undesired bob was uneven with random pieces here and there that were longer than others. Needless to say, my haircut was no charge. Later in the evening, Taylor texted me to see how I was doing and apologized about my experience. In her text she said, "I should have just told you to wait for your hair to be longer". Perhaps she should have, but she didn't, and besides if she had not over cut my hair by 3.5 inches, I would have had enough length to donate, I would have ended up with the style and length I asked for and was promised, and I would not be writing now warning the public about the ineptitude of this stylist and recklessness of the salon. read more
