Favorite salon and stylists! I was a client of Brittney's for 2 years and loved her so much. My hair was always gorgeous when I left, she made me feel so comfortable, and the salon is beautiful. Sadly Britt left, but I saw Sydney yesterday and had the exact same experience! She had previously helped Britt with my hair, so I knew I was in good hands and felt comfortable from the beginning. She is so professional, incredibly sweet, and really listened when we chatted about my hair goals. Her work is beautiful and I love my color so much! I had a really disappointing and stressful experience at this salon. In the past, my hair was done by the owner, Jess, and I always left happy. This time, however, she is on maternity leave and completely unavailable, which I find unacceptable--business owners don't simply remove themselves when this is what's happening behind the scenes. When I arrived for my appt. With Frankie , I waited 25 minutes because there was only one stylist working with multiple clients at once. The "partial balayage" I was quoted $280 for ended up being just a 8 painted on highlights at my part/ the very top of my head(4 on each side)--nothing around my face or throughout the back--while the stylist took on 4 additional clients during the three hours I was there. I was left sitting with bleach on my naturally blonde hair for over 45 minutes with not one check-in, even as I told them my scalp was burning & I lift quickly. When it was finally rinsed, all highlighted pieces of hair broke off, yet I was still charged full price and never received an apology. To make matters worse, I'm getting married in two weeks, so this was an extremely important appointment for me. I am 41 years old, and I have never cried through an entire salon appointment until this one--yet somehow, nobody even noticed. For the price, lack of professionalism, and damage caused, I cannot recommend this salon. Save yourself the horror, skip this salon & move on to the next read more

I got a haircut with Teyah and she was amazing! She was really attentive when I explained what I was looking for. And given it was my very first cut with her, she was very understanding about me wanting to work slowly (it can be nerve-wracking trusting someone new with your hair!) and explaining her thought process every step of the way. I adored the end product and she nailed down the exact look I wanted. Only downside is I wish she was in LA -- but I'll continue to make the trek down because it's beyond worth it!! read more

Nicole killed it!!! My previous hairstylist changed careers and I was so apprehensive about letting someone else do my color. I started by coming in for a haircut so Nicole and I could talk about what I was wanting done. She showed me pictures of her work and explained the techniques and services she offered that aligned with what I was looking to achieve. Well today was my 1st time getting a Partial Hand Painted Balayage with Nicole and she knocked it out of the park. I'm so happy with the outcome, it was one of those moments that every angle I saw it at just kept getting better every turn, once the light hit the sparkle and depth of melted caramel and honey just had me like WOW. The salon is such a beautiful place, I love the open bright happy space. Felt like a true self care environment and energy. Nicole is so sweet and very talented. I came in with long hair down to my waist and told my stylist Sydney I wanted to keep my long hair and just take a half or full inch off my ends maximum. After 3.5 hours and $400 later I came out sobbing because she gave me a chop! I am so sad because I have graduation next weekend and my birthday and I feel ugly. The salon was nice but the customer care was lacking. Even when I was getting my hair washed the stylist was ripping through my hair until I had a headache. I had my first trip here and got an appointment with Raeden after checking out his collection of cuts. I was really happy with my visit. He listened to what I wanted and also gave his opinion about what would look good so I felt like I got a "collaborative" cut :) He did a wonderful job with my shorter style which means a lot to me since I have such fine, low volume hair. I've been to Maven Salon on two separate occasions (once just for a cut and second for cut and balayage ) and booked each time with Jess. I couldn't be happier with the cut and balayage. As a curly girl it's hard to find a stylist that understands how to cut, style, and color my hair because I like to wear it both straight and curly. I am so thankful Jess took time to ask how I normally style my hair. Her level of service is outstanding and I felt well taken care of the entire time (thank you Jess!). My hair each time has come out awesome, the second time I went I got balayage and wanted it to look natural which is exactly what I got! Amazing experience with Nicole Cournoyer. My favorite balayage, hands down, I've ever received, and I've been getting balayage for roughly the last 10 years. :) I found Nicole and the salon through Google and her work on instagram (@nkc_hair) while visiting in San Diego. Nicole had a warm, relaxed, inviting energy and she made space and time for me to show her and explain to her what I was hoping to accomplish without feeling rushed. She listened intently and presently, and she asked all the right questions to ensure I felt heard. She was very communicative and transparent about process, vision, pricing and how everything would work which eased any questions. Talking to her was a pleasure, and I absolutely LOVE my hair. She nailed the vision I was hoping for; my hair also feels super healthy which was important to me with going blonder. Overall, she was a joy to chat with, she finished my hair in about 2 hours, which is record timing for any balayage I've had, and my experience did not feel rushed at all. She accomplished the exact vision I wanted with ease and confidence. Will 100% be back when I officially make the move to SD. Really wanted to like this salon, but the balayage and cut I received are the worst I've gotten in San Diego while being the most expensive. The salon itself is pretty cute and has very limited street parking outside, but that's the only positive I experienced. So sad to not like your hair after spending this much money ($600+ with tip!!), and even worse when the stylist completely refused to let me come back in and take a look to fix it. Beyond unprofessional and not at all what I expect at this price point or from any stylist regardless.. Save your money, time, and frustration and go somewhere else. Oh the excitement I had when we both learned we were both moving to the SD! Just got my first cut at Maven and couldn't recommend it enough! Everyone was super nice, and the salon is so cute, bright and airy. I came to Jess with a totally jacked up haircut and basically told her to do whatever she had to do to give my hair some style and shape while I continued to grow it out. I LOVE my cut so much. Beautiful new salon! We followed Brittiany from Rinse Salon to here. She is a miracle worker for hair. My daughter (15 years old!) is very particular in her hair cuts and styles.
