This salon is excellent! Jessica always does my hair to perfection. Everytime I come out, I feel super pretty!

i'm actually very sad writing this review because i was genuinely so excited for this appointment, but i can't believe how terrible the service and communication of this salon is. i had made an appointment in advance, and less than 24hrs before my scheduled time i received a text asking to move my appointment to an hour and a half later. i thought id be able to make it but didnt hear back. i then got a confirmation at 6:45am the morning of. i responded and said that i couldn't make the new time slot. no response. i then called right when they opened and explained my situation - my babysitter wasn't able to change her schedule in such short notice. the girl on the phone says "no problem" and asks if i want to reschedule. i said yes but that i would have to call back with a date. she's says 'ok' and cancels my appointment. what she failed to mention was that she was going to charge my card $220. now, i'm no stranger to a cancellation fee, however, i was unable to make it due to THEIR time change. also, if clients are expected to give 48 hours notice, shouldn't you be required to give the same notice? so i wasn't given the same courtesy AND you're going to charge me for it? and how the came up with $220 is a mystery because they've never even seen my hair, what color it is, how long it is etc...but anyways i call again and speak to the same girl. she tells me that it's up to the stylist and the manager to determine if i can get a refund or put it towards my next service - not only do i not know when that would be, but why would i ever want to go back there after this? i hear back from the same girl and, big surprise, they don't want to give me the refund. she asked if i wanted to speak to a manager and i said yes. oh well, "she's working at the salon so it won't be till like later." so i've been naively been sitting for hours waiting for this manager to call me. the salon closes at 8pm and here i am still waiting on that call. from what i can see, this place has pulled this type of service with others as well. i.e. cancelling someone's appointment 30 minutes before because their hair wasnt long enough...? or charging someone $100+ for a trim, or adding extra charges without being transparent. overall i'm just so disappointed because i was really looking forward to this. it was my first "treat" postpartum and now im out $200 for literally nothing. read more

I've been getting my hair done for 40 years in big cities LA, New York Toronto, London , LA-live in San Diego now and I've been to many different stylists in San Diego by any means I am not a cheap person however after getting less than a partial highlight of hair and a trim when I went to the front to pay my bill, they said it was $500, my jaw dropped , so I'm gonna say that's not worth it. I mean, I've gone way better hair done here for way less so yeah was not worth it by any means. My hair is above my collarbone and there wasn't that many highlights to be honest - she said it was more than a partial and it's not it was less than a partial. I've been getting my hair done for 40 years and I've had a full head of highlights that taken more than an hour and a half to be high, she gave me less than 15 highlights and said it was a half and it wasn't. It's a complete lie. I'm not an idiot , and it was a trim and was an ok job at best ! Maybe a better stylist would prove that amount but even then I've been styled by the greatest stylus and it wasn't that price so she ain't worth it. It was way below price point. What a sham . And on top of it, I was seen 25 minutes wait after me appointment time ; no apologies - and I got a ticket cause you can't park more than two hours around the business so my whole appointment plus tip and the ticket cost more than $600.!!! This is not even the best hair job I've gotten in the city. I don't recommend . Sad to say I'm underwhelmed. I've had my hair done way better at other places . read more

I came to kenalee with some really bad highlights and she did such an amazing job fixing my hair. she did a beautiful blend so the grow out was so amazing and very minimal damage. Haven't been back in a while but the service and the space is still great. I made an appt for a mon afternoon and the shop wasn't too busy and I found parking about a block away. My stylist was great! Asked me what style I wanted and since I was getting a decent amount of she checked in a couple times with me before cutting more off to make sure I was happy. She did a dry cut, washed my hair and then blow dry and styled. Took a little over an hour and I was really happy with the final result. Pretty reasonable price at $77 before tip. read more

Go to Darren Chiang for a haircut!! He did sooo good and literally saw my vision and made it come to life. He didn't push layers onto me like most stylists. He was able to create movement in my hair just by adding face framing. I'm obsessed and he gives the best blowout. His attention to detail is AWESOME and I will only trust him with cutting my hair from now on. Best haircut I've ever had! Cannot recommend him enough! He is also very gentle with long, thick hair! read more

This salon completely misled me and I want to warn anyone before they walk in here. During the consultation the stylist told me my visit would be cheap and even made it sound like I would be saving money compared to my first appointment. That turned out to be the biggest lie of the whole experience. I came in for what I thought was a tiny refresh which was front roots, FOUR foils in the back, and a gloss. That's it. Then he offered to "dust the ends" (something I never asked for) which took literally two minutes. Later I learned he charged me $107 for that "trim." The total bill was $327 for what was basically the bare minimum of color work. Meanwhile, my first appointment, which was a full partial highlight with gloss, cost $285. Somehow a micro service cost more than a full highlight. Make that make sense. Charging $220 for four foils and slipping in a full haircut price for a trim I didn't want is beyond unreasonable it's shady. None of this pricing was mentioned beforehand and I wasn't told the stylist raised his rates. When I questioned it I got a long guilt trippy explanation that still didn't justify anything. The pricing is inconsistent, overpriced, and absolutely not transparent. If you don't want to be blindsided with a bill that makes no sense, do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I won't be coming back and I wouldn't recommend this salon to anyone who values honesty. read more

Be warned that they will charge you for absolutely everything down to the dime. What should all be included in a standard custom color is individually charged. Not to mention they allow begining stylists to charge these outrageous prices. 5 hours in the chair and $600 for just a partial highlight, not even by a senior stylist. This is my 3rd time visiting this salon, and each of my three visits has been fantastic. The salon itself is aesthetically pleasing. I booked a consultation and haircut appointments with Monica, and she was wonderful. She's friendly, warm, personable, knowledgeable, and passionate. I especially appreciated the care and education I received from her. For example, Monica explained the proper hair washing technique to get the most out of my haircut. First of all my appointment was not at 3:30pm it was at 4:00pm with Monica De La Rosa. I got there a little earlier around 3:45pm and the manager Annie Sparks checked me in. I told her I was there for a 4:00 appointment with Monica (not knowing there were 2). She told me to have a seat and Monica will be right out. A Monica comes out and tells me to have a seat. As she's drying my hair I tell her my friend Zsuzsanna referred me and she just cut her hair last week. This Monica walks to confirm with Annie if I was her appointment which she then comes and tells me I wanted to be scheduled with Monica De La Rosa. I confused look at her and asked her "are you not Monica de la Rosa?" She responds telling me she's Monica Valadez. She informes me I need to speak to her manager (Annie) who tells me with attitude that I need to reschedule because Monica De la Rosa is overbooked. She tells me I was booked with Monica Valadez. Since I had left work early just to be there I asked if Monica Valadez can cut my hair? She said yes she would call her back. When Monica Valadez is cutting my hair Annie interrupts and tells her that her client who was scheduled at 4:00pm just showed up and turns out I was scheduled with Monica de la Rosa after all. I then informed Monica Valadez if she had to go she can and I can have Monica de la Rosa finish my hair since I don't want her to feel rushed having to finish mine because her client is here. Monica Valadez wanted to finish and did not rush treated me super kind and did an amazing job with my hair but the lack of professionalism and customer service from Annie is not acceptable. Instead of admitting her mistake (since after all I didn't make a big deal) she lies to Monica de La Rosa by telling her I couldn't wait for her and decided to go with the other one. Annie if you are reading this please note that you need to work on being humble, professional and organized. Not only did you make a mistake but then tried to push me away to reschedule instead of double checking. Absolutely unfair. The only reason I had to give 1 star was because of Annie and because it's more than likely to get attention and actually acknowledged. Monica Valadez deserves 5 stars. read more

I went into Rinse Salon with virgin hair. I wanted a base color to cover whites (mostly around the face and a large patch on the right) while matching my natural brown color. The person I booked with over the phone said that would be an easy service that any of their team members could do for me. Fast forward to the day of service, the girl put an all over color on my hair at the rinse bowl, somehow managing to lighten my all over color and roots while giving me a red/ blonde hue. My natural color is dark brown! I am obviously very dissatisfied with the service and experiencing extreme stress over my hair being ruined. I would've been better off leaving it natural. Every time I go to Rinse, I leave with exactly what I wanted. I trust their stylists. Parking can be tough, but show up a bit earlier and you'll likely find a spot if you give yourself the time to look. My only suggestion is to improve the seating or neck cushioning at the wash stations. Every time I come, I dread laying down at the stations because the bench is slightly slanted and it's a hard slab; your feet will also just dangle or slide against the floor, so there's a lot of pressure on your neck/head while you're laying down. I always leave with neck pain or a headache. I think if they added foot stools or changed the benches to chairs, that would help a lot. read more
