Pizza was okay. Did not hold up after a while. Got soggy. I would highly recommend the grandma's pizza though. That was good. We ordered six pizzas and four salads, but the delivery driver didn't bring plates, napkins, utensils, etc. I had to drive back to the store for said plates, napkins, utensils, and I was charged $21 For paper plates, and forks. I want to like this place a lot, but the service has problems. It's trying to be a takeout place, slice counter, sit down restaurant at once and the resulting vibe is confusing in all three directions. Generally, one person is handling the phone, the counter, and waiting tables - it's too much. Last night, I asked for a couple slices and a salad "for here." One slice comes out, with no napkins or silverware. It's cheese, it's great. Thirty minutes pass, I finally ask about the other food. The person at the counter says "you probably ordered it to go?" I explain they've already given me one slice and I've been sitting right in view for 30 minutes. They clearly forgot about the rest on a slow night. Eventually a decent salad comes out, still no napkins or silverware. I have to walk back up and ask for those and the person seems annoyed. Garden vegetable slice comes out completely cold. Any port in a storm as they say. This is a solid pizzeria, and they know how to make a pizza with a decent crust. The tomato sauce was well balanced, which is a very common weak spot these days. Luckily, they know how to make a sauce. I ordered the chicken roll instead of a calzone, not sure I made the right choice. It was very tasty, don't get me wrong, just more bread than I was looking for. The meatball sandwich was somewhat disappointing , mainly because of the role, which was to "bread heavy." This is the best pizza north of the city made with only the best ingredients. Been going here for years and I've never had a single meal that was not amazing. The hot honey pizza, margherita pizza, Sicilian slices, pepperoni, they do it all very very well. This place went down hill. We loved this place for years. When they moved, I don't know what happened. We have been ordering the same thing for 10 years +. One Large Pie well done, one Grandma's well done. The last 5 times we ordered the pizza wasn't well done at all, barely cooked . The 4 th time I checked it and told them to put it back in, it was almost raw. The owner was apologizing and gave me a gift card for one large pie. When the pizza came back out , it was awesome.. He told me next time I order, tell them well done and burn it.... Well, we ordered tonight and once again it wasn't cooked.... What The Hell....... We have been long time customers of Sal's but like most of the other reviews it was up until they moved locations everything changed. Customer service went down hill, did not cook the pie to what we ordered, and would tell us it will be ready in 25 minutes but apon arrival it would actually be over an hour or more wait. It's really sad because their sauce and pizza is very good, but each time recently when things would go south, I wouldn't even get an apology either. It's really not how you conduct a business. At their old location for years this never happened! Tonight was the last straw. I ordered a pie and I was told " we'll see you in 25 minutes, thanks for your order." When I arrived 40 minutes later thinking it wouldn't of been ready in time as it's a Friday night, and I knew it, it wasn't even ready yet and they told me it will be another 25 minutes. Making it an hour and a half to be ready after I called. I understand when it's Friday and places like any pizza spot will be busy. That's fine and understandable. BUT, to tell someone we'll see you in 25 minutes and that it would be ready then is not ok. To top it off, when I asked the young girl behind the counter "why another 25 minutes, you told me 25 minutes 40 minutes ago? " she then replied " I did not tell you that, I told you an hour and I wouldn't of said that." That is Completely false and wrong. I think she was trying to cover up the fact that my order was never put in. Either way, I didn't receive an apology from her or anyone, and best part is, when I left they gave me the wrong pizza and had to chase me out to my car and then bring it back in for the correct one. Sorry, but I would avoid Salvatore's at all cost. There are sooo many other options in Red Hook and in the close proximity that treat customers with sooo much respect, and if mistakes happen they atleast apologies and or throw in something as a kind gesture to make up for the mistake. Best pizza in the area, hands down. I eat here about once a week or so because I work nearby. I almost always have a pizza slice from the case which they heat up. My co-worker and I LOVE their pizza. My sister LOVES their pizza. Anyone I recommend this place to loves their pizza. Their meat lovers' is to die for. They also have a few veggie options and their Grandma's variety is de-lish. In general regarding the slices; the crust is chewy but not doughy, the toppings are always plentiful and the slices aren't greasy. One slice can probably fill you up but I've been known to have two. I usually down the crust too. They also have Italian food, and while I think their prices are a tad high for a small casual joint, I love their plain old spaghetti and meatballs (about $15 with salad). You can grab beer, soda or ice teas from the fridge. The place is cozy, comfy, casual, and has great service. It may be a little chilly in winter; dress warm. read more

Although things are getting better on the delivery front, I'm still not thoroughly convinced that their products are getting that way too. Deliveries have been taking less and less every time we buy from there (to a point where yesterdays order was said to be at my place about hour from the time of purchase though it took 30-40 minutes instead, or a few times before this when the order arrived about 20 minutes later). I know things shifted when you dropped the third-party delivery services, but it seems something else changed because quality just isn't there. Yesterday, I had a chicken BLT sandwich that I was told was about a little more than a footlong. However, when it arrived, it was cut in half and placed in a cardboard box. It wasn't hot at all, and the taste just was unpleasant. The stringy lettuce kept falling off my sandwich, and so did some of the tomatoes which my doggie helped clean up at my home. The dressing (which was never mentioned) kept falling on my hands, and it just felt greasy. It was white and didn't clean away very well when washed. I know I live five minutes north of your current location, but there has to be more quality control on your items. i keep saying to my mom how I don't like Salvatore's yet when I'm asked (rather randomly) what I want from the restaurant, without being told where: I'm always saying "I don't want anything from Salvatore's" but I'm always pushed to get something more (in hopes that things one day will change)...just don't know when that day will appear. read more

Was going there with family to celebrate a milestone birthday but when we arrived there was no table for us.
