As a medical student, I lived off the Salween Thai on Saddle Creek, specifically their drunken noodles. Since being back in Omaha, I had not had a chance to revisit an old favorite until recently when my husband and I went with some family. Because of our larger group of 7 of us, the Pacific street location was more easily accessible to everyone, so that's where we went for dinner on a Friday evening. The restaurant is very spacious! There are plenty of tables, but a lot of unused space as well. There is also a bar area in the back of the restaurant that is unused as they don't serve any alcohol. There are a few pieces of artwork, but overall there really wasn't much of a vibe. We were greeted soon after we walked in and were seated immediately at a table in the back corner...and then were forgotten about for an hour. During this time, no one gave to get us water, make sure we didn't have questions about the menu, or to see if we were ready to order. During that time, someone from our group went up to a staff member two separate times (separated by 10 minutes) to get them to our table. Eventually a nice waitress did come, bring us water, took our order, and got our food in a reasonable time. She also explained that they were really short-staffed. I feel like they knew this when they seated us, however, and could have told us that they can seat us immediately but it would be a wait to get our food - we probably would have gone elsewhere. The food, itself, was tasty and flavorful. Our group got vegetarian egg rolls to share and my husband and I shared the Pad Thai Woon Sen with tofu and the drunken noodles with tofu. The egg rolls were really nicely crispy and the filling was very good. The entrees were nicely portioned and very good. The Pad Thai Woon Sen, in particular, was surprisingly good - the glass noodles really make this dish! We also asked for some chili oil - the spiciest I have ever had! While I personally really liked it, several members of our group had a harder time with how unexpectedly spicy it was. While the food was decent, the service was less than desirable. I would probably not go back to this location to eat in (would love to try the other locations though) and would prefer take out from here. read more

I was definitely craving some delicious pad Thai tonight and Salween pulled through (as always)!! They offer online ordering so I order my pad thai, fried egg rolls, and fried shrimp online and it was super easy! There are lots of parking and they have a huge sign if you are unaware of where they are located! The customer service was so nice and easy! They also have a huge space inside for dining if anyone ever wants to dine-in instead of grabbing takeout. I had my slice level as a 5 for my pad thai and I will make sure to make it even spicer next time!! Overall, it was so delicious and much needed comfort food. Cannot skip out on the egg rolls!!! They are so crunchy and have that vermicelli noodles in them and is just so good I should've ordered 2!! The fried shrimp are always top notch! Horrible service...absolutely horrible. We were one of three tables in the place, which makes sense after the experience we had. First, the waitress forgot to take our drink order and she didn't come to the table for a good bit before taking our order. Unfortunately, the wrong order was brought out for one of our dishes, and the waitress forgot to bring us one of our sauces. By the time the right dish was brought out, the person I was with had already eaten most of their meal. To add salt to the wound, our waitress wouldn't refill the waters she had given us (again, note she just brought us water instead of taking our drink order) even after we asked for refills. A lot of the time no employee could be found, so it wasn't like we could go find one to ask for help. ...and we weren't the only ones complaining. People from the other two tables were complaining, with one even canceling their last dish and leaving. Another man waiting for takeout exclaimed, "hey...I've been here over an hour now..whats going on?" We were in town for a soccer tournament and were looking at different lao/thai options in the area. I decided to pick up a carryout order from here because I saw that they used fresh wide noodles in their pictures and was excited. I probably should have noticed that those pictures were old because I was so disappointed when I opened my order of pad see yew and pad kee Mao and saw that they used the thinner dry noodles. The disappointment continued when I tried the pad kee mao and didn't taste any basil. It had a decent flavor but definitely didn't have any pieces of basil. I have visited this location many times in the past few years and always find myself coming back for the delicious food. I have tried many things here from the Penang curry to pad Thai to Tom Yum noodle soup and pad see yew. All taste very good with my favorite being the chicken pad Thai. The pad Thai is full of flavor-so delicious! It is probably one of the my favorite places in Omaha to get pad thai. I came for lunch recently and got a pretty big portion of noodles, though sometimes I come and am disappointed with my portion size. I do feel overall in the last couple years the portions have gotten smaller. Now, for the service, I will echo many other reviewers, and that the service is not the greatest. Every time I come I always expect to wait a very very long time for my food to arrive. The place always appears short staffed, with maybe 2-3 people having to handle serving all tables and the many to go orders. The most recent time I came for lunch, we did not receive waters for such a long time and did not get any silverware or napkins until after our food was served and we even had to ask for it. This place has some extremely bad service. I came in to pick up my order that I ordered online, and there was nobody at the front desk. I stood there for a while hoping someone would come but I never got attended to. On top of that, the staff DID notice me several times but each time they chose to ignore me and find other people to help in the dining room instead. I was forced to go behind the bar on the far right side of the place and get the food I ordered myself because all of the staff refused to help me. Yes I did pay for the food beforehand; I will put the receipt in my pictures. All of the food tastes just fine, in fact its all really good - the Salween Thai sampler and the Pad Thai Woon Sen all tasted great. But this place, out of all the places I've ever been to, has some of the worst customer service I've ever experienced. I honestly don't recommend this place. It really is disappointing that I have to leave this rating because the food is honestly very good. I'd like to believe that this place will improve their customer service, but I see from the ratings that this place does have a history of bad customer service. I was considering giving this place 2 stars and not 1 star because of how good the food is, but I can't forgive how the staff blatantly ignored me even after seeing that I was there. Plus as I said, I see a lot of other people complaining about the customer service here so they clearly haven't changed and probably have no plans on changing, so I will not be returning here. Despite good intentions, I've never visited the original Saddle Creek location that I've heard rave reviews about. Fortunately, this convenient location recently opened in the old McKenna's space at 74th & Pacific. My spouse I and tried it on a rare date one Saturday afternoon. No other customers at 4:30 but it started filling up after 5pm. Very spacious with tables and booths, nice décor, radio music. Our server was very helpful and answered all our questions. My spouse got his favorite - yellow curry with chicken - while I got the Pad King Sod stir fry otherwise known as Ginger Delight. We were both very pleased with our meals. Portions were generous and we had enough to take home for lunch the next day. We also agreed that prices were very reasonable, much more so than Mai Thai in Aksarben. Be warned that it is pretty spicy so keep that in mind when choosing your heat level on a 1-10 scale. They also have take-out. I think we just found a favorite in the neighborhood and can't wait to try it again. read more

We have eaten in person at Salween Thai pre-Covid & enjoyed our meals so this time we decided on delivery. Guess what? We still enjoyed our meals. In fact, Bookguy raved about his pad Thai. That's what he usually orders so I'm not sure why he felt the need to exclaim over it. Perhaps it was because I ordered it before he got home & specified a spice level of 1. He might usually get a 2 & maybe this time the flavors were more subtle. Anyway, its definitely on his "would get again" list. I am eating more plant based these days so instead of my usual chicken curry, I ordered Massaman curry with potatoes, broccoli, carrots, onion, peanut, coconut milk and tofu. Mine was delicious too, worth getting again. One of the things I really like about Salween Thai is the way I can order not spicy (level 1)all the way up to real spicy at level 10. I'm not a big spice fan so ordered level 1 which was perfect for me No doubt we will be ordering from Salween Thai again. read more

This is the third location of Salween, my most beloved Thai food restaurant in Omaha. While the Ames location is a bit dodgy, the Radial/Saddle Creek locale excels despite the near impossible to find-parking-and-park parking lot and no left turn. Now they're open in the Aksarben area with a large indoor space and a very nice patio that seats many people. They're open for business as of last week and good as ever! We got our standard order on the first visit- Pad Thai, Tom Yum, Yellow Curry, and Pad See Ew. All the dishes tasted equally yummy to the radial location. It's got my seal of approval for the food. The service can use some improvement but it's their opening month. So happy for this central location, same great food as the radial highway restaurant but with much better parking. read more

Yesterday was my first time trying Salween Thai. I placed a to-go order over the phone at 11:10am, since their online ordering was not functioning, and I was told it'd be about 20 minutes for my food. The food was ready when they said it would be, and I was the only customer in the store at that time. I got the steamed dumplings and pad thai with chicken at spice level four. I was pleasantly surprised to receive 6 dumplings for my appetizer! As for the pad thai, their website advises that due to the nature of their food, drop down a spice level or so from what you're used to. I didn't do that & I don't regret it! The only note on that main dish is that the spice felt more forward than the peanut taste at times. However, I will be back and try dining in. read more

I've been to abother Salween location but not this one. I was with a party of 4 and we had shrimp spring rolls papaya salad druken noodles pad thai pad kew mow green curry My favorite item was the papaya salad - its so fresh and has a good punch of flavor. I haven't had too much thai curry, and while the flavor was good, it felt more like a more soupy consistantcy than a thicker curry consistency (unsure of this is the thai style Be warned - their spice levels are aggressive. We waited more than 40 minutes past the pickup time for our pickup order, and then they brought out only half of our food, because they "ran out of rice." They did refund us for the missing items, and explained that when bringing the food out, which I appreciated. The servers were apologetic and polite. The food we did get was good, prepared well, and we enjoyed it but we had to make additional food at home since two entrees, a salad and some appetizers wasn't enough to feed five people. I don't know how a Thai restaurant runs out of rice! We'd have been willing to make some alternate selections if they had mentioned (or texted) any time during our 40 minute wait to inform us of the problem, but that didn't happen. read more

My husband just brought me home drunken noodles with chicken. Wow! It's so good. It's like a Thai stir-fry. It has a great chicken to veggie ratio, and a beautiful blend of savory flavors with a hint of sweet basil. The veggies have a nice, fresh crunch. The noodles are like soft lasagna noodles. I love the shape and their starchiness allows the flavors to coat it. My husband got me spice level 2-3 and I needed a tall glass of milk to wash it down. If you can barely get through buffalo chicken wings (bone-in, always), then this might be just a little too spicy for you. Next time I'll go with 1-2. Sorry, I have no pictures. My mouth was enjoying this so much it wouldn't allow my head time to go find my phone. It's truly a great dish. I hope to maybe check out the restaurant when I'm in town so I can update my review. First time dining in and let me tell you, I had the BEST pad see ew here. From the fresh noodles, the sauce and the charred carrots it was very tasty. I chose a spice level 4 and I had to have two glasses of water. The spice level was there but it wasn't overwhelming. I think if someone is real sensitive to spice, a 0-2 level would work. The place was recommended as a good Thai food place however I would personally categorize this mediocre. It wasn't bad but not great enough to rave about. The premises was almost empty and we were immediately seated and our orders were taken pretty quick. The food took reasonable amount of time to come out and the server was attentive so I would say the service was good. However coming to the food itself, One thing worth mentioning was that the spice levels were extremely high .We asked for medium since that's what we always prefer at a Thai restaurant however their medium itself was extremely spicy and we were constantly gulping down mouthful of water between every morsel. We got a 4 and a 7 and the 4 was much much hotter, maybe it's a 10-1 system. Food flavor wise was okay, but I had the same overall impression from the whole experience: we don't really care about our dine-in customers. I've been here a couple of times and the food is always great, but the service is very slow. For an appetizer we had fried wontons. For entrees I ordered the chicken fried drunken noodle & my friends ordered the fried tofu drunken noodle (no egg) & the beef pad thai & 2 sides of rice. I also ordered the Thai Iced Tea and it was DELICIOUS!!!! The food is always amazing, but we waited at least 30 minutes to get our drink & food order taken. And then we had a long wait to get the food as well. When we arrived there were only 2 tables seated. They did apologize for the wait when we received our food. This location was recommended to me by a friend and it was everything I hoped and more! Restaurant is cute and clean and the staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. I hope to come back when the weather is nicer to experience the patio. The food was superb. Clean flavors and crisp vegetables with tender cuts of meat. I had a hard time choosing but ultimately went with the Kana Mu Crob which was a beautiful marriage of crispy pork that cut like butter, and crunchy Chinese broccoli in a sweet sauce. I played it safe with a level 3 spice which was the perfect amount of heat for the sweet sauce and smooth pork. We used to go to the ones at Radial Highway location but since we moved plus the fact that they're closed on Sundays make it harder for us to come.
