My sweet-and-sour lacked the spice level asked for and was kind of dry. I would normally remedy this by condiments on the table, but there were none. I asked for some chili sauce and a very small bowl and bottle were brought out, but nothing else was offered. One person was committed to the dining room and either cooking or prep cooking which made service a little slower. It may just not be my Thai taste, as I have a friend that loves it, so you might want to try for yourself. read more

Not sure what happened here. For several years, this has been my go-to Thai restaurant in Omaha. For Omaha, it was just about as authentic Thai food as you would find in a bigger coastal city. But, we just had lunch today, and boy was it a big disappointment! The curry was watered down with much less flavor than usual. And the service was terrible - was it the waitress' nap time? Not sure. Maybe there's been an ownership change? I don't know. At any rate, I'm now on the lookout for a replacement when I'm in Omaha.... :( read more

Don't let the location fool you...this restaurant serves really outstanding Thai food. They have a pretty good menu and a handful of selection for appetizers. I highly recommend their Mango Rangoon for starters. The Tohm Yum soup was good but really wished it was a little more creamier. Also can go wrong with their Red Curry, with your typical choice of spiciness level. Parking can be a little challenge, but paid street parking maybe a better option. read more

We asked for the food hot and it was probably medium at best. I would order a spice level up from what you usually get to get the right spice we came at 12:30 on a Sunday and were the only ones at the restaurant which was surprising. This has become our go-to Thai takeout spot over some of the other restaurants in town. Not sure on the ambiance, but the takeout food is always fresh and flavorful. Recently we ordered three dishes: basil fried rice with tofu, beef pad thai with extra noodles and pineapple curry combo (beef, chicken and shrimp. There spice levels are mild, medium, hot, very hot and Thai hot. The "hot" was probably more of a medium, but order accordingly. All of the food was hot, fresh and very flavorful. My combination curry had lots of big, perfectly cooked shrimp and generous portions of beef and chicken. The tofu in the basil fried rice was fried and then sautéed, so it had a great texture and flavor to it. For a "seedy" litttle restaurant on 24th street, we were stunned into silence! It is absolutely delish. Located right across from South High, don't try to find street parking around 2:50-3:15. The ladies were sweet as punch, prompt, and helped a bit with the menu! The curries and pad Thai are delish (comparable only to Thai Orchid in Papillion). The Thai Tea is perfect. The appetizers came out hot, golden, and before your plates. WARNING: if the little lady is cooking, order a lower spice level! My sis could barely eat her food, and I, normally a 5-6, struggled! When we came in we decided to sit right in front of the television playing a Thai singing show that seemed like a cross between The Voice and America's Got Talent. It was awesome and very entertaining. I ordered the Forest curry because it sounded interesting. It actually had pretty much the same ingredients as the red and green curry but the word "forest" got me for some reason. Turned out that it was just a huge bowl of veggies with just a light taste of curry. It was almost like vegetable soup, because it was thin in consistency. It wasn't bad, but I think I would like to go back and try some of their other dishes. The tom kha gai on the other hand was really delicious. For a small cup, however, it was $5. Also, I ordered level 10 spicy and it did make me sweat. If you're a serious pepper head or heat lover, it's doable. A few of my friends and I really enjoyed our experience and food at Laos Thai the other day. The service was wonderful - our waitress was happy to discuss her food recommendations with us, and was attentive throughout our visit. Two of us had the green curry and it was delicious! One of us enjoyed the duck noodle soup (we were shocked to see this on a menu in Omaha) and another the Thai fried rice. The men in our group were overjoyed that an extra bowl of rice is only $1, although I was a bit disappointed that they do not offer brown rice. I do think the food was a bit pricey; however, I am happy to support a local business with non-American food, and understand that it is likely expensive to keep ingredients like mango and duck in stock, particularly in this area of the US. Our whole family loves this place so much! We happened by it one day a while back and decided why not stop in and give it a try? After trying them out, I was so sad that we had not tried them sooner. They have been here this whole time and we had been missing out! It is so, so good. Dining in person or taking it to go, we have always been super satisfied with the food. We've tried most everything on the menu at this point and we would recommend it all. I haven't tried anything that wasn't superbly tasty. I have confidently and arrogantly over-ordered on the spice level a time or two (I usually like a 5 or 6 ) and almost couldn't eat what I ordered because they don't mess around. It has that extra va-va-voom! If you order it spicy, you will get it spicy! The couple who run the restaurant are really nice as well. We eat there several times a month and our favorites are the pineapple fried rice, it's to die for. The curry fried rice is an absolute stunner. The garlic chicken is flavorful and addictive. This place is a CASH ONLY place, I didn't realize until we got here. There is a Wells Fargo ATM on the street and there is also an ATM in the restaurant. On Yelp, it said that they close at 8, but it is actually at 9. Parking on the street was not too bad, maybe because I came on a snow day so not many people around. The food was good, but I think the portion was small for the price I paid. I must say that the flavor was good and hot. I got Pad See Ew with Tofu, very yummy. Have tried Salween, which is good, however- Salween does not put tin foil under the plate so their food while placed in hot, has melted into the styrophome which is not healthy (allowing chemicals in the body etc). Asked Laos to remove eggs or any fish sauces for vegan dishes & am appreciative that was honored. The dishes ordered were vegan pad Thai with tofu, vegan drunken noodles with tofu, & vegan spring rolls, with a side of the pb sauce. All are great. Thank you Laos for providing great service. I notice this place every time I drive on 24th St in South Omaha. They serve quite a variety of Thai dishes here. I had a craving for some curry rice so I ordered some from this place as well as some crispy Thai spring rolls. Service was friendly & swift. I got my curry rice topped with fairly large pieces of shrimp. The rice had good taste; they give you a very large portion of it. The crispy spring rolls tasted pretty good as well. Hidden between a million amazing taco shops and across the street from south high is this little hole in the wall. Bring cash and prepare to have you taste buds blown away. I've eaten here several times and haven't ever been disappointed. The typical pad Thai is savory and leaves you asking for a drink at a level 6. You've been warned. Spring rolls are quickly hand made and go amazing with the provided dipping sauces. My favorite part to this place is definitely the personalities of the staff. You feel like you've been invited into Someone's home and seated at their kitchen table. And how can I forget the make yourself peanut sauce. I came to check out this Thai restaurant after reading plenty of positive reviews on Yelp. With an open kitchen in the back, each table was vertically arranged with colorful tablecloths and cultural artifacts all along the walls. The ambiance is casual and the interior is good for groups. I was the only customer dining in but there were plenty of foot traffic for take outs. I first tried the Som Tom ($8.99) that encompassed shredded green papaya, fish sauce, lime, chili, and tomatoes. The papaya salad came with plenty of heat, but the fresh, crispy texture was missing. The dish could also use a sprinkle of peanuts, dried shrimp or raw crab to further complicate both textures and flavors. I was disappointed. Then I tried the Kao Nahn Pedd ($9.99) that came with roast duck, chili, and broccoli. The duck was way too dry and the presence of brown chili sauce and bitter broccoli made it into an awful Chinese stir-fry. The only bright spot was their complimentary egg roll that was crispy, fresh, and delicious with plenty of cabbage and glass noodles at the center. Service was friendly and brief. There was too much compromise in these dishes along with Western and Chinese influences for me to rate them higher. 1.5 stars for the experience. I won't be coming back. read more
