First visit to Mai Thai in Aksarben, now under new management! We started with the mango crab rangoons (thanks to Katy's recommendation) -- crispy, flavorful, and a must-order. The Mai Tai was dangerously well balanced. For entrées, we had pad see ew with chicken (spice level 2) and spicy drunken noodles with beef (3/5). Both were full of flavor with a modest, enjoyable heat. If you love serious spice, go 5/5. Great food, attentive service, and an easy spot to add to the regular rotation. Our food totally blew us away. The chicken in the mud dish was like a fusion of Indian & Thai. Heavy ginger spice in the curry which we loved. My chicken pad thai was some of the best I've had in Omaha. And the mango crab rangoons were large & really well done. Portions are large. I wanted everything on the drink menu. It's been cold out. So I went to check this place out. And wow I'm glad I did. I ordered the mussels which had some much flavor so yummy. Then I tried the coconut shrimp and I tell you when you bite into them you can taste the coconut essence. Got the roast duck stir fry wow soft almost melt in your mouth feel and the strips of roast duck wow worth a try. Then I tried red curry with pork belly I was just amazed. Not sure why the waiter Katy T works here if she has horrible costumer service. Since we sat down she rushed us, made us feel uncomfortable the whole time. Mai Thai was closed a good portion of Summer 2025 as it remodeled and changed ownership I believe. I'd been wanting to try it after it reopened earlier this fall so when I was thinking of getting NYE takeout, that was my first choice. There are many of the same items on their menu but also some new ones. I was also pleased to see they had different pricing for lunch and dinner menus with the lunch menu pricing lasting until 3pm. Online ordering was very easy and uses Toast to check out. I set my order to pick up at 3pm and it was ready on time. I always use the 30 minute parking stalls in the public parking garage since it's a short walk from there. I like the renovations when I walked in! The furniture was black instead of white and it felt a lot more open without the little desk at the front and partition down the middle. The bar was always there but seemed more prominent and inviting. There's more of an entry way also which probably helps keep wind and weather blowing in every time the door opens. It wasn't busy yet but the gal working (Nicole?) was cheerful and pleasant. Our takeout meals were delicious! My friends and I went to eat last night and had a blast! We made a reservation just in case, but when we showed up a tad early, we were seated right away. The waiter came over and got our order immediately. The food came quickly and we were so pleased! My two friends for chicken Pad Thai, and I got chicken Pad See Eew with a side of rice. The portions are very generous. I put half of mine in a box because dessert was a must. I ordered mango sticky rice and it deserves a chef's kiss! We stayed got there a little after six and stayed until they closed at 9. We never felt pressured to leave, the music was tailored to our millennial tastes and kept the vibe just as we wanted. WOW. Sandy, the food, and the experience was FANTASTIC. I've tried Merci in CB, and Sea Thai in Omaha and NOTHING compares the the food here. The Red Curry was fresh and delicious (and don't worry they actually take your spice level into account unlike other places) the samosas were so flavorful. Ordered takeout from here on a weekday. We got the crab ragoons, pad Thai x2, Tom yum, crab/shrimp rice and it was $90. To me this was a little pricey given the serving size and overall quality. We love Thai food and supporting small businesses so it works as an occasional option for us. I came here for a lunch stop after the lunch rush. The inside was clean and almost empty. I was seated quickly and was able to place my order right away. They have a smaller menu of Thai food and unfortunately didn't see any appetizers. The basil rice dish was the only one listed as spicy so I ordered that at 5/5 spice level with Thai coffee just in case I needed a cool down. The food was delicious but wasn't as spicy as expected. The coffee was rich and creamy and give a nice sweet balance to the spicy basil chicken dish. Solid experience here and I love decent Thai food. This is a pretty mediocre Thai place in Aksarben Village. I've swung by here to get takeout one evening because it was close to my friend's place and I was feeling Thai. The inside is pretty nicely decorated and there's plenty of seating. The service was pretty prompt and I got my food pretty fast. I just ordered a Pad See Eew. They didn't have pork interestingly enough so I got chicken. They also ran out of broccoli so I got asparagus added to it. The food was very bland. The lunch crowd was not overly full and several tables near the window were available. The lunch menu is not a reduced value but just their popular dishes. Service was very quick, ordering was simple, and I want to warn everyone that the spicy numbering system is a bit flawed. I ordered my Pad Thai at a spiciness level of a 2/5. It came closer to a 3.5 out of 5. If you don't like it spicy, say 1 out of 5 vs a 2. The food comes out very fast and water is needed constantly for the spiciness. A lady comes by frequently with a water jug to refill waters at all the tables which is greatly appreciated by everyone. Had Mai Thai today. Had not been to this location, just the west O spot. Have to say I liked this one better. Our server was very friendly. I had Tom yum soup and drunken noodles with tofu. Called and asked if they could make a Thai tea with coconut milk. They said they could but was closed. It was 2:54 when I called and they said they were opening again at 4:30pm. Then they said they could make my drink. It is a Sunday and when I walked in there hours are posted from lunch to dinner. I think it was 11am-9pm. When I left the restaurant, the hours was not up and "open" was not blinking. Their website does have lunch ending at 3pm and dinner starting at 4:30pm. My Thai tea was really good. Mai Thai is a Thai/Viet fusion restaurant in Aksarben shopping center. The ambience is nice and the decor is clean and fitting for the area. Parking is either street parking or the free parking structures. This place is always busy, and I've found service and timing of food to be extremely lackluster on multiple visits, so honestly I have stopped coming here very often. In addition, the prices here are really high even for Aksarben rent prices. $14 for a Pad Thai? That's awful lot for a plate of low cost noodles. If it was phenomenal, of course I would not hesitant to pay even $20, but when I last got it to go, it was skimpy on the noodles and a little dry. Both our Pad Thai and Drunken Noodle were a little disappointing. Can't wait till Salween Thai opens their Aksarben location off Pacific and 74th. I visited Mai Thai on a Sunday with some friends, since we were craving pad Thai, and this restaurant is one of the few Thai restaurants open on Sundays and it has the great location in Aksarben. I would say the restaurant looks pretty average on the inside 3/5. All 5 of us tried Pad Thais and I would also give the food a 3/5 rating. Even though all five of us got the same entrée, our portions varied so greatly with my portion being the smallest. That was disappointing considering the pad Thai is priced at $17, which is more expensive than most other pad thai places I have tried in the Omaha area. I personally found the sauce in the pad Thai to be a little sweeter than what I prefer. The chicken meat was very tender and delicious though. I ordered a three for spice level and found it not to have any spice to it at all. My friend ordered a level 5, which is the maximum, and didn't find it spicy either. The service was pretty good- our server checked on us a few times and while we did wait a little longer for our food because of how busy it was, he did keep us updated on that. read more

After a little mix up with the house-made cherry Coke(they add grenadine but the first try had no carbonation), everything was great. Our appetizer was Golden Buddha, a fried vegetarian dumpling with a soy-based dipping sauce. Scrumptious! Book Guy ordered garlic chicken, which he thought was excellent--high praise indeed when he says, "I'd order it again". My dinner was pad woon sen, a new noodle dish for me. The menu doesn't have any mention of tofu, but they do have it, so I was happy. In fact, the server checked with me about the other ingredients and spice, which I appreciated. The presentation was beautiful, delish, and Book Guy liked it too. Plus chopsticks! So fun! As usual, I needed a to-go box. The space is very modern but we were able to hear fairly well. We ordered the mango crab Rangoon, Egg rolls, Fried Fish, Saigon Pork chop dinner , and the shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp. Everything except the pork chop and the fried fish were good. The fish was fried extremely hard and came out cold. My pork chop came out cold as well. When we spoke to our sever he told us "it came out hot" in an arrogant way. I feel like if I am expressing a problem to you it should be taken in to consideration not dismissed like we should eat whatever you bring us to table. The service sucked and the food was cold.
