Consistently fantastic! This is our second trip to St John and the establishment, owner and employees never disappoint. Grateful for fresh ingredients and a menu that offers a number of options for my little one who has a dairy and egg allergy without compromising taste and execution. Breakfast lunch or catering, to go mimosas and more! Menu is substantial and pricing is reasonable. We even ordered a small charcuterie board for our boat day and it didn't disappoint! Wow, not sure what happened to this great sandwich place? The $17 turkey and cheese sandwich we got yesterday was practically inedible. The sourdough bread was dry and stale and we ended up throwing it out and eating the measly portion of turkey and the orange, tasteless square of cheddar cheese (looked like one of those pre-sliced packaged slices of cheese). One star for their homemade potato chips, still great. So sad as S&J's was always a stop I looked forward to. read more

We went back multiple times and tried a variety of their sandwiches, all delicious. The house made potato chips should not be skipped. If you like root beer you must try it, it's almost a religious experience. Get a pack of cookies for later, they are worth the calories! BEST and most affordable sandwiches on the island!!!! Really great, flavorful, HUGE portions, homemade chips, and they even have a bar inside. We bought sandwiches and then headed to the beach to eat them. The chicken parmesean "rosetti" was REALLY good! Met several locals getting sandwiches here as well. And there is an amazing authentic italian gelato spot in the same shopping complex. Starfish market is also the best and most affordable market on this side of the island. OMG so delicious. I had an eggplant sandwich in February which was a special but about to be placed on the regular menu. I don't know the name they are going to use but we called it The Burn Out because Bernie the realtor would always order it. This place is always delicious and has vegetarian options. read more

This was in the same building where we were staying on the third floor. They offer prepared foods, sides, and salads and you can cater from here as well. These things are perfect to take with you to the beach, as long as you have a cooler to keep them that way. They do have Ire Pops popsicles and coffee, but only regular drip coffee. They have a few tables inside where you can sit and close by mid-afternoon. The staff is super friendly and patient as I deliberated on what to order. I ended up getting the Jackson sandwich and it did not disappoint. It was a generous portion of meat and the bread was the perfect crunchiness! The roasted red peppers added a nice touch to the sandwich and it kept well as I was not able to finish in one sitting, but had some the next day. read more

Stopped in and picked up a sandwich for lunch, plus two salads (broccoli and chick pea) and a square of lasagna to bake for the next day. All were flavorful and delicious. Be aware they close early - like 4 pm- so go early! Location is on the third floor of the Marketplace. I only wish we had discovered this place sooner!! read more

Ordered the Angelina and the S&J Burrito; both items were delicious. The tofu in the Angelina was done right, marinated and cooked to perfection. The entirety of the S&J had a mixture of complimenting flavors. The interior is large with ample seating. The AC and supplementing fans provided good air circulation. The lady who took our order and served us was friendly with great suggestions concerning the meal. There are used books for sale on the way in for a beach read and hats that support a local charity without proceeds leaving the island. Definitely stop in here on the way out. Before hitting the beach, and hearing good things about Sam & Jack's Deli, we placed a sandwich order for pickup. Our ordered was placed at 11:00am, for three sandwiches, which were quoted to be ready in 15 minutes. Upon arriving I noticed the store is pickup only, with half of the store marked off, so no refrigerator items are available, obviously due to Covid-19. We ordered the Sammy Hammy, Uncle Peep, and a make your own Turkey Wrap with Swiss Cheese, Bacon and Mayo. All three of us were disappointed with our sandwiches. My Turkey wrap came with no Mayo and the Turkey was extremely dry, so, no Mayo made it even worse. Only bonus, the bacon was crispy, just the way I like it. The Uncle Peep may have gotten my Mayo, ha ha, because it was so overwhelming it made the bread moist and was almost inedible. The most enjoyed sandwich was the Sammy Hammy, which came with a great amount of meats. The final kicker for me was the total for three sandwiches was $40. Isn't that a lot? To me it was, and for not being impressed spending that much money breaks my heart. Maybe it was an off day, so if you like unique sandwiches at a little higher price, check them out. Amazingly good sandwiches, particularly the Uncle Peep. But, honestly, I've never had a sandwich here I didn't absolutely love. Just one complaint....I can't eat one by myself, which works out great when I have my husband or friend with me but when I'm alone on island, I need half a sandwich! We ate here several times during a recent trip to STJ. They have A/C and a generator when WAPA goes out. Cheerful staff, great variety of foods, daily specials and drinks! Sam & Jack's deli has amazing , gourmet sandwiches , with exceptional meats and fresh breads . You can even " build your own " sandwich from a wide assortment of meats , vegetables, and condiments. Friends , these are huge , delicious sandwiches !! They make an ideal lunch for the beach or boating . And while you are there , get some of their homemade , fresh potato chips made daily . Ate here every day. Best banana bread in town! They are reasonably priced and have lots of vegetarian options. The peanut noodles were also great and had those almost everyday to snack on. The staff were very nice. Get here early because the place gets packed. read more

The Marketplace is a nexus of Cruz Bay, with some excellent shops and *plenty of parking* (better to go to the rear of the marketplace near the hardware store to save the hassle of finding a spot). Venture upstairs to Sam and Jacks - it is open for lunch Tuesday - Sunday with "grab and go items" available till 7. Although this is called a Deli and has some Deli like foods (e.g., sandwiches) what you are getting is super delicious, very thoughtful prepared foods. For example, a sandwich called the Wolf: Fried Rock Shrimp, Spice Cajun sauce, and Arugula on a Baguette. That's one of a dozen odd sandwiches, that you can accompany with home made potato chips and local on-tap root beer. Bottom line, IMO, is that if you're in Cruz Bay, and it's lunch time, you want to go here. But that is not all - if you're thinking of cooking at home, you can pick up some pasta that they make fresh in the afternoons (drying it on racks set up on the thick wooden benches normally for the lunch eaters), home made sauces (lobster, etc.), salad parts with neat dressings, and home made mint ice cream... read more

A little hard-to-find, not in the downtown area but worth it. its in the marketplace past the ferry terminal, upstairs. the sandwiches are amazing the anitipasta salad it's as good as you get anywhere, Sliced meats mozzarella balls artichoke hearts and roasted peppers. Ingredients are fresh and unique especially the bread. The deli meats are really high-quality. This is as good as it gets on the island. read more

Sandwiches were amazingggg!!! Grabbed a couple cold sandwiches and hiked around St. John. The Johnny pants was my fave, a ton of meat and great sauce.
