First time here and it was a good experience. Staff friendly, plenty of seating and solid breakfast choices. I had the chilaquiles with red sauce. The sauce was really flavorful and I liked the onions in it. I ordered the eggs on the side and no guacamole and it came with refried beans. Sams might be my new favorite breakfast spot in Santa Rosa. GET THE SALSA! Homemade salsa with so much flavor & some heat, ask them if they don't bring it. The biscuits are huge, like double size so a biscuit & gravy is a full meal with the bacon or sausage. The Bloody Marys are a good treat after eating and we sat outside since weather was really nice. We were very excited to come here because the photos made it look delicious! But it was pretty disappointing. Probably the most disappointing thing was the price. It ended up costing over $75 for two adult combos and two kids meals. My husband and I both got the french toast combo plates, but he made the mistake of getting the strawberries with whipped cream, but that was almost $5! It was only a handful of strawberries, I couldn't believe it. I ordered an extra bowl of strawberries, which was just over $2 and it was much more strawberries. I just stuck mine in his whipped cream! We also got a milk and coffee, both of which were also almost $5. The kids meals were only okay, they didn't have chocolate chips for the pancakes, which kind of shocked me! The environment makes it seem like a little mom and pop diner, hole in the wall kind of place. But with those prices it was not that kind of an experience! The service was okay. The french toast was okay. It was very eggy, and I know some people like it like that. It was a little too much in my opinion. Will not be coming back if we're in the area. read more

We got both! We chose the cranberry mimosa over the usual orange juice. Really refreshing! I had the Denver omelette with country potatoes and my boyfriend had the gravy and sausage with bacon on the side. Delicious all the way around! The biggest surprise was the salsa. Probably some of the best salsa I've ever had at a restaurant. Molly, our server was super busy and was so quick to get our food and drinks out to us. She's totally fun and kind. I've been to Sam's for as long as I can remember. It's always been an affordable family breakfast spot that has really good food. I normally get their huevos rancheros or their waffle however this time I got the French toast and it did not disappoint. The servers here are always friendly and accommodating. They always make sure to check on you and ask if anything else is needed regardless of how busy they are which they literally always are. The spots kind of like going to eat to your grandparents bunch of stores miscellaneous stuff everywhere but it's what gives the home vibe to this cafe. I personally really like it. After being charged almost $30, I got it home to find out there's a bunch of potatoes, guacamole, I can't see any eggs and they put the salsa and sour cream on the side. YUM! How did I grow up around here and never get breakfast at Sam's? To people like me who are new, this is a very small restaurant with limited parking so arrive accordingly. I loved eating my breakfast and people watching. There are some clear regulars as well as I got to watch a couple on their first date. The staff is very friendly, the service is always good. The food is over priced and mediocre. Eggs Benedict is bland, the Canadian bacon is so cheap it's like plastic . There potatoes are tasty , not crispy , and Luke warm at best. Omelets are lacking flavor and very boring . Toast is not hot and they use margarine which has a foul taste. Not a great value but always busy and I think it's because nothing else nearby to service the breakfast and lunch in the area unless you want Mexican food. This place has been around for pretty much my entire life (30+ years). We used to go here as a kid and for my mom's birthday we took her to brunch this year. The staff has cutsie names "cutie" was our waitress and she was friendly and attentive; I dont think I ever saw the end of my coffee cup. I ordered the breakfast burrito with bacon and ham, extra protein with a side of gravy- so filling I was only able to eat 1/2 of it. My mom and I also ordered the wings in which we split- they were super tasty the bleu cheese a bit pungent for my taste buds. Food was fast to get out and perfect temperature. It is definitely a busy spot, so if you are in a rush, it may not be the best spot to go, as you do need to give yourself some time. 3.5 stars for a solid breakfast place. I must admit yelpers, I am a woman of habit for the most part. This place has made it into a slightly regular Sunday morning habit of mine. While this place is not the best breakfast I have ever had it has become something of a go to place when in need of some breakfast sustanence on a Sunday morning. I always go to the griddle combo with french toast and have never been disappointed.
