Had a lovely meal at Hank's the other day. We sat at an indoor table overlooking the creek. Water was flowing and everything was lush, green and beautiful outside. Should have taken a pic. Our waitress was cheerful and helpful and she didn't bother us even though we were the last customers in the house (my back was turned so I didn't even realize). Food was so tasty. Had a (large) omelet with cheddar cheese, sausage (the Cajun) and added spinach. Side of fruit was fresh. Biscuit (I had to take a picture!) was ginormous and delicious. So much I was able to share with my friend. With honey drizzled on top - yum. I did have to ask for the honey, they were happy to accommodate. To top it off, I found a spot right out front. Be warned, this place has hardly any parking so be prepared to hunt around and take a little walk to eat here. The menu is pretty typical of a diner. I didn't notice anything special. This is a place that has perfected serving up tried and true favorites and don't mess with stuff that isn't broken. My bf ordered pancakes, bacon and eggs. I had my piece-meal "vegan special": side of (dry) toast, side of avocado, side of hashbrowns, and a fruit cup. The service was super friendly and FAST; the diner was bustling, noisy and smelled of all things breakfast. You can tell looking around that people "know" this spot and have been coming here forever. A great place for breakfast with a quick turn-around time. There are no vegan-specific items on the menu but something can be cobbled together without the server seeming judgey about it. read more

Eggs always poached perfectly, muffin toasted just right, hollandaise is light and fluffy, generous avocado portion, perfectly salted. California Benedict, cottage fries, side of sourdough -- no butter. My order for nearly 15 years! It's a small cozy restaurant with a beautiful view of the creek below. We stopped here for breakfast while we were having a family reunion at spring lake. Make sure you stop here if you want a really good breakfast, one thing that caught my eye is a used pasture-raised eggs. I had eggs benedict one of the best eggs benedict I've had in a long time. They have three tables by the window so you get a nice view of the creek. You want to get here early because the line will start forming after 9:00. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that wants a fabulous breakfast a lot of choices on the menu. read more

I am the worst yelper when it comes to food reviews. Especially breakfast, I always start eating and often completely forget to take pics. "Your phone eats first" is something I need to engrave in my brain, some how. My workplace manager in '92, then tennis buddy, then cycling pal, then best man at our wedding, now dear friend Joe, invited me to breakfast this morning at Hank's. When I saw it on the map, it looked like a house - very small. But yep...there was a creek alright, so no false advertising in the naming of the restaurant. We arrived early, maybe 10 minutes before opening at 7am. Still dark outside, we got out of the car as folks began to line up. Once inside, the warmth of wood tables, chairs and paneling was immediately welcoming and relaxing. Joe selected a two seater table at the windows overlooking the creek. You could barely make out the creek, it was so dark. We were served coffee right away and I was happy to see a small metal pitcher of cream for the coffee on the table. Coffee service is important to me and these folks nearly refilled my cup after every sip. Amazing service! I chose the first thing I noticed on the menu- corned beef hash, which I ordered with eggs over easy, hash browns and sourdough toast. Only my third time trying this dish and it has been prepared differently each time. The first was back east, in DC. Served in the form of a pancake. At Lido Cafe, it was plated as actual slices and chunks of corned beef. Today's serving was more along the lines of what I initially expected - a loose mix of fine corned beef bits mixed with hash browns and whatever else goes into it. And it was delicious! Joe enjoys and recommends the sausage. Which he had along side his sunny-side up eggs and hash browns. I was more interested in the too rare visit with Joe to snap pics. Hank's was one of the first breakfasts I had when visiting Sonoma County for the first time back in 2001. Before that, my wife came here a lot when she was a student at Santa Rosa Jr. College. Hank's has been here a long time and I'm quite sure that very little has changed. In some ways, that's why I love it so much. When we came in this morning we sat by the window and I was mesmerized when I looked down at the creek that was gushing along. Hank's has a great position on the cliff overlooking the creek. The service here is always very good and makes the experience here feel special. The food is consistent and very good. It's nothing fancy. The food is all very solid diner food. I have literally been offing the same dish here for decades which is the Brody omelette. It has bacon, spinach, mushroom and sour cream. Simple, but delicious. I am not someone who can eat a lot of onions, but my wife loves to get their cottage potatoes which come covered In sautéed onions. She also get the same dish with eggs and chicken apple sausage. Very basic, but really good. I have tried some other dishes here including their crabcake benedict which is delicious and my daughter always enjoys their pancakes. Hank's is a Santa Rosa staple and it's worth a visit to experience a good, longtime, family run establishment. read more

Came to this breakfast spot across from our hotel. It was busy when we went on a Saturday morning but was seated right away. I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and my husband ordered the Corned Beef Hash. They offer either hash browns, cottage fries, arugula salad or fruit with a side of toast. The cottage fries are potatoes with caramelized onions on top. The service was fast and got our meals fairly quickly. Both items were delicious that we decided to come back the next morning. Hank's is by far my favorite breakfast spot in SR! Comfortable and cozy atmosphere. Amazing staff who are so friendly and kind! (Shout out to the amazing Stephanie). And delicious foood! 5/5 stars all around. Last time I came here it was packed and this time it was just as packed! We got seated right away and food came out pretty quick. We got the crab cake eggs benedict and pancakes with eggs and bacon. The eggs benedict is by far my favorite dish and the way they do it with crab cakes is my favorite! The sauce pairs so good with the eggs and crab. SO DELICIOUS. I can't wait to go back for it. The pancakes are literally the fluffiest ones I've ever had. I love that they have so many options from blueberries, chocolate chips, strawberries, etc. The bacon is spectacular. Cooked perfectly. Crispy but not burnt and so much flavor. After dropping our son off for his first day of daycare, we decided to have breakfast to reflect. Hank's Creekside was down the street and we needed some excellent customer service. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and led to the only table available. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us time to look over the menu as we started with coffee. The restaurant was busy, but the volume was at a pleasant level that didn't make us need to shout at the table. We ordered our meals and within 15 minutes we were served hot biscuits and gravy with over easy eggs, eggs Benedict, and 2 sides of crispy hash browns. Adding a little hot sauce to the biscuits and gravy, gave a little extra kick that was a nice way to start my morning. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and delicious, giving velvety consistency on the perfectly poached eggs. Can't wait to comeback and try some pancakes. read more

Came here on a weekday during the holidays. Since it was the holidays it was pretty busy. We were lucky we were able to get a table without waiting. They only had two servers taking orders and 1-2 busser/hostess so there was a little bit of a wait to get our order in and food served. The back corner has a nice view of the creek. Sorry for the half eaten pictures. We were so hungry so we ate first before the camera lol. I ordered the Bacon, Cheddar, Onion & Mushroom and I added avocado and my husband ordered chicken fried steak. I loved how well they buttered their toasted sourdough. Oooh! Went here with some family and decided to go back! Only issue? The floors are a bit slippery. Lovely window seating overlooking a gully and a tiny creek. Biscuits delightfully large and dense. After going on a morning hike at Spring Lake and stumbled into Hank's Creekside Restaurant. The place has a nice comfortable ambiance and the food was great. My gf got the corned beef hash benedict w/ arugula salad while I opted for the chicken fried steak with gravy and a homemade biscuit. The arugula salad w/ pickled onion was the perfect pairing for the corned beef benedict. The hollandaise sauce was amazing. The chicken fried steak was cooked well with a good amount of gravy to make sure there was some in every bite. The homemade biscuit was nice and fluffy and with butter made it so much better. Service was great and our server even gave us a free coke that someone ordered but ended up not wanting. Will definitely be back! read more

Food was amazing! Had the Linda's Potatoes. Loaded with veggies. The eggs were perfect. The biscuit was the largest I've seen. I'm 5'1 110 lbs, and I ate the whole thing (didn't have room for the biscuit, but took it with me.) Saw that they have what they call cottage fries. They are what I grew up eating, fried potatoes and onions. Will have them next time. Waitress was amazing. Wish I would have gotten her name. My coffee never even got cool. read more

Angela waited on us with the biggest smile. We felt so welcomed. Her interactions with everyone was joyful. I noticed another employee use hand sanitizer before she picked up silverware and napkins to put on just cleaned off tables. I was really impressed and appreciated that they took that precaution! Bonus, there is a decent sized thrift store in the lot next to Hank's. While husband enjoyed the freshy made biscuit just out of the oven. I enjoyed thrifting. Husband and I have been meaning to check this place out since being reminded of it on an old episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. It happened to be Father's Day when we decided to give it a go so we were expecting a wait. They took our name down and said it would be about 30 minutes which was fine. We killed a little time at a thrift shop that shares the same parking lot and then took a seat on the benches the restaurant has out front. Soon enough, they called our name and we were seated. The place is very small but didn't feel too tight. They have huge windows at the back of the restaurant that look down onto the creek below. Service was really friendly and attentive. My husband ordered their eggs Benedict and really enjoyed it. He said the hollandaise was delicious and "fluffy" which was kind of different in a good way. The ham was thick and generous. I ordered a two egg breakfast with country sausage and cottage fries. My eggs were a perfect over easy. The potatoes were wonderful- soft slices of red potatoes piled with caramelized onion on top. Delicious!! The sausage patty was good but way too salty for me, I didn't end up eating much of it. My only other complaint is that my sourdough toast wasn't ready when they served our meals and I had to wait a few minutes to dig in (I prefer to eat my eggs over toast). Expect a wait here, especially during prime weekend brunch hours! We had a bit of a larger group of 5, so we had to wait about 40 minutes after arriving at 11AM on a Saturday, but the wait was honestly worth it. We were seated in the back by the windows which gave us a really nice view of the creek out back. Service was very friendly and efficient, and the ambiance was quite lively and a bit loud at peak hours. My boyfriend and I shared the biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and a stack of buttermilk pancakes. Other items our party enjoyed included the corned beef hash (nice and crispy), the cinnamon French toast, the veggie omelette, and a bagel with lox. Everyone really enjoyed the food! The pancakes definitely impressed me with their fluffy and moist texture (I sometimes find that restaurant pancakes can be dry). I can see why this place is busy and I'd love to come back for another comforting American style brunch meal in the future! One thing to note is that parking is VERY limited and the lot is small. This is my Fiance and my favorite breakfast place in Santa Rosa! We've been to almost all of them and this one consistently tops the list. They can get busy on the weekends so expect a little bit of a wait and their parking lot is tiny but people park next door or across the street all the time. Their menu is simple yet extensive, their coffee is always freshly ground and they keep your cup full. Our favorite dish is the sirloin patty with eggs and potteries. I'm it sure where they get their eggs but I always get their eggs over easy and their yolks are always bright orange! It always makes me happy and feel like they're really good quality eggs. They also have a big selection of sausages that I don't see offered at other places. I'm not a huge sausage person but I've tried them and really liked them. They also always have fresh fruit if you want to substitute your fries or get some on the side. We saw them cutting them all up one day, so it's definitely fresh! Their salsa is also one of our favorites it's just the right amount of spice and is also flavorful and refreshing. Their staff is also a huge highlight. They are so nice and recognized us everytime we go. Melissa usually takes care of us and she's always a delight! Overall highly recommended! read more

We hadn't been there in a while. Sometimes it's a little bit crowded and noisy for me. But! They are the only place in Santa Rosa to get whole wheat pancakes! So we went during a weekday and I was very happy that it wasn't very crowded. There is a new owner someone that's worked there for a long time and she told me they've tweaked a few things. I ordered a pancake and it was even better than it used to be. They've added some buckwheat flour and it is fluffy and beautiful, and they have real maple syrup and everybody is very cheerful. The staff are also happy you can tell, and we sat at a table overlooking the beautiful creek. They also have to meet the best sausages around. They're just fat and juicy. Everything was absolutely amazing its was our first time there with my cousin and girlfriend who were visiting from Southern Cali great place to go!!
