I love this neighborhood restaurant and so excited they've started a nice little pop up dinner service on the weekends, only! My hubby and i got two tasty side salads with home made Meyer lemon vinaigrette ($5 ea) and shared the seared salmon fillet that topped a very tasty couscous salad filled with pees, feta cheese, cucumber, and more. ($28). We combined with our side salads, and...Ooh, Lala! It was the perfect warm springtime evening meal for both of us. And of course they are so friendly and willing to make alterations, additions, whatever you want. Excellent! I had pic of the salad too , but it was my check in pic and it disappeared from my phone camera(???). As a bonus, the owner, Mark offered free 3 Oz pours of their house Pinot to sample. So delicious! The warm cinnamon roll was a tasty bite paired with the homemade raspberry jam, it was light and fluffy and not too cloying or topped with any heavy icing. My country benedict was tasty and hearty, big portion size, perfectly cooked veggies, crispy crunchy hash-browns and runny egg yolk to sop it all up. Well in Santa Rosa I decided to try another breakfast spot. Glad I did. This place has the classic café look and parking was fairly easy. I sat at the bar with a great view of the kitchen. I kept it basic and ordered the pancake breakfast with bacon and eggs. The pancakes are made with a homemade recipe that is very delicious. Highly recommend. Bacon and eggs were just as I like them. The owner happened to be there and was very friendly but the star of the show was his staff as they all seem to be in a very good mood and the vibe there was what really gives this place five stars in my opinion. I was in town for a few days and I hadn't been here in years so I suggested it to my friend and we went for breakfast on Black Friday. The food was very good, although they put the gravy on top of my eggs instead of on top of my chicken fried steak, which confuses me. Our waitress was pretty scattered and forgot several things. This little diner has some absolutely amazing food. My wife and I stopped by on a cold January Sunday morning. We were on a waitlist, but a worker asked us if we wanted to sit outside, we noticed they had heat lamps, so decided to take an outdoor table. Our waitress, who was super friendly and helpful, arrived at our table within a few minutes to take our order. After a couple of minutes of conversation our order arrived. I had a veggie omelette and my wife had the corned beef hash. Lets just say few words were spoken after our meals arrived. Everything was fantastic. Even the coffee was delicious. We came here for breakfast on a weekday and they were moderately busy, mostly all locals who clearly eat there regularly. I say that because when people walked in, the server immediately brought coffee to their table and made conversation that indicated they were regulars... this is telling about a place, if the locals eat there on a regular basis, there's probably something good about the place. In this case, they offered so many great/appetizing items on the menu that it was tough to choose what to eat. I asked the server which was best from a few items that looked appetizing to me and she told me to go with the chicken biscuit... this was a great piece of advise, as that was a very tasty breakfast entrée! The hash browns that came with it were incredible too! The gravy on top of the biscuit was excellent... batter on the chicken was perfect too! My wife got the veggie bowl and she absolutely loved it. This place is appropriate at 4 stars. Honestly I feel it is between 4 and 5 but I am a hard rater so I go 4. I wanted a breakfast burrito, but did not want what was on the menu. I was told I could make a custom burrito...yum! The flavor was basic but yummy, I really liked the salsa on the side. It was very busy but we were seated quickly and served quickly. There were lots of dogs and I saw the owner passing out dog treats, so cute. There was also a water station that we helped outsell to as we waited. My only complaints are that there was nowhere to wait besides the parking lot and that the condiments and table were a little dusty. We stumbled upon this cafe while looking for a breakfast spot on the way to the Sonoma County fair. It's in a lower income neighborhood and I nearly backed away when driving by, but decided to give it a shot as saw a line outside and glad we did. They have a nice outdoor seating area under a shaded covering, and inside is your basic diner seating including counters. We were seated promptly outside and the waitress was pleasant. I ordered the chiliqiles special and it was huge and really good, with scrambled egg, avocado, chirizo and salsa. Husband had the duck confit special and liked it, though the duck leg was a little small. Coffee wasn't the best, but seems like a mom and pop place that has been around forever. We walked to the flea market one block down afterwards and bought some "used" tools. Overall would recommend if you are in the area and hungry for good food. read more

As I was walking out to my car, I pulled up yelp to look for a good breakfast house. I look up and notice right across the street is the Parkside Cafe. Yelp showed good reviews so I placed an order for one of my "usuals": breakfast sando with eggs, bacon and cheddar cheese on toast. I headed over for the pick up. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and hip the interior was. Open kitchen right up front. You could see the passion in the main chef. Food excellent. Setting super hip. Good parking in the area. I stopped by over the weekend last month and I always noticed it gets busy but it's worth the wait. Parking could be limited at times but not hard to find. This is hands down one of my go-to spots for a quick yet delicious, hearty, and satisfying breakfast. I've been here a million times and have never left disappointed. The service is always fast and efficient, the ambiance is comforting and homey, and the food is outstanding. They have indoor and shaded outdoor seating, but parking can be very scarce, as this place can get packed. I frequently rotate between their Country Benedict, Omelettes, Duck Confit, Chicken Benedict, and Louisiana Hash. They never miss. The pancakes are good, too! Also, I absolutely love duck, and they happily add or substitute duck to any entree for an extra charge. Although their current Duck Confit with the onion marmalade is good, I really miss their previous Duck Confit recipe with the warm apples and raisins. Overall, the menu is fantastic, and the cooks do an excellent job. Lastly, I love the unique mimosa flavors they rotate!! My favorites are the Lavender Meyer Lemon and Rose Hibiscus. I wish the Lavender Meyer Lemon flavor were always available because I'm obsessed. Love this place. I'll continue to be a regular! read more

To get this out of the way, the customer service was great, no complains there. It's the food that lacks far behind. The pancakes were weirdly doughy and bland. I could have made better pancakes from a mix that you just add water. Got the orange juice which was a whopping five dollars for a tiny glass which I get in this economy but for that price I expected real oranges not a container. The eggs were simple and bacon wasn't bad but weren't very hot at all. Maybe it was a bad time or simply the recipes but really expensive for the quality. read more

UPDATE: wow! Both the owner and Amber, my waitress went above and beyond in making me whole! Amber reached out here on Yelp to let me know how much she wanted to make sure I was taken care of on the same day that I received a check in the mail that was a refund of my breakfast costs! These folks went out of their way to take care of me after I brought it to their attention I was disappointed. I'm grateful because I really enjoyed my breakfast so much, I wanted to make this a regular stop on my travels. Now I definitely will! Thank you Parkside Cafe! I'm truly upset to be posting my first ever 1 star review, but I feel like I'm left with no other option. I've spoken with staff at the Cafe and was assured this issue would be addressed, but now I'm not even getting a response to my calls. I ate a wonderful breakfast here this past Saturday, April 27 and got outstanding service from a very friendly waitress who impressed me because she was also training a new team member at the same time, but still gave me her full attention. I followed my usual procedure of tipping waitstaff with cash even though I paid my bill with my card. Cash tips are usually always appreciated more than having to wait for the business to process the receipts and pay out that way, plus I've been told sometimes restaurants will hold back portions of a tip. At any rate, I drew a line through the tip portion of the bill yet they still decided it was OK for them to add a 32% tip (!!!!!!) to my card charge. Who tips 32%!?! What an odd number in the first place and in the second place, that's straight up fraud. I would much rather the owner would have simply responded to me bringing this to their attention by sending me a check in the amount of the illegally charged tip than to have to resort to posting a negative review. I provided their staff with my name, phone number and mailing address and it's been radio silence ever since then. read more
