Walked in after the crowd, the place looked clean, heard great things about this place. Walk up to order... hibachi shrimp box, and dancing dragon bowl. You pay after you order and they ask for a tip! I tipped 20% before getting service. Huge mistake. When the food came we ended up with chicken instead of shrimp. We got the order to go and had to be somewhere so we couldn't exchange the order. I won't make that mistake again. Ridiculous that you can't get the order correct. read more

I ordered pickup and my wife tried to get it. When she got there, the guy at the front refused to give it to her unless she could show him a screenshot of the order even though she gave him my name. He was a total jerk and scolded her like she was a 5 year old kid. He made a whole scene in the restaurant and everybody was super confused. I get that's some places' policy, but how else would she have known my name for pickup...? Is she capable of hacking DoorDash for the sole reason to steal my specific $30 order from me? EXTREMELY poor counter service from Levi. He was rude and disrespectful to every customer who came in, asking for screen shots for to go orders. He forgot to include one of my meals and didn't even apologize. Instead, he berated me for filling two tiny "to go" containers with soy sauce from the open station, telling me "I shouldn't do that since they have packets." When I apologized and asked where they were, he told me that they "give them out." Their packets are controlled with 2-3 given out per order. I used to frequent here but will not return to be treated with such disrespect. I can spend my $30 elsewhere where it might be appreciated and where customers are treated with KINDNESS. read more

i found this place online while looking for a lunch spot and i saw that they had takoyaki which was really exciting. it was a lot different than i expected however. it's not your typical sit down restaurant. there are indeed seats but you order everything at a counter, pay and then sit which is fine. i just was looking for your typical server sit down type of thing that day. the food was pretty good but it is a bit on the pricey side compared to other places ive been to. read more

Just went in and didn't even eat. The guy at the front was terrible. It was just some worker who looked disheveled. He yelled "here or to go?!" and slammed a receipt down. I said "do I order up here?" And he said "yes" and then walked away, but I saw that the menu was up on some screens and he had some to go orders. I decided what to get and said "ok I'm ready" and he again slammed down a receipt for whatever reason and yelled "what is it?" So I said "uhhh never mind" and left. I just received an order of ramen, delivered, for lunch. The pork ramen contained 4 slices of pork that were 2.5" long. Only 1 contained meat. The other 3 were all fat. The broth was tasteless. I have given this place more than one chance to satisfy, but will not order from here again. read more

Order was very wrong and packaged poorly crammed in small bag, poke bowls almost spilled carrying to car. Basically the 2 poke bowls we ordered were mixed and matched so much so that neither bowl had the correct ingredients. Pineapple missing in one, added to another. And, you would expect the veggies to be cut for sushi, as most poke bowls are, these, however, had giant chunks of veggies, the seaweed salad was a clump that was impossible to mix in, and more. I was greeted as soon as l walked in. On this day I decided to order the new Rock Shrimp. And it really surprised me. I was expecting greasy shrimp and instead I got perfectly cooked fried shrimp with little to no grease. And the yum yum sauce sauced was amazing. I was struck immediately by a strange smell permeating the restaurant... Like their soda machine lines needed to be cleaned. The staff was friendly, the ramen was ok. (This review is for a visit last year, fyi. Things could have gotten better). As always I got the spicy miso. It felt a little uninspired, but not terrible. The sushi I received was definitely sub-par as the rice fell apart as I lifted the piece. That's sushi 101. All in all I'll give it 3, since this IS Kentucky and in the two years since I've moved here I haven't really been struck with the sense Lexington is a haven for ethnic food. I don't think fold here really appreciate traditional foreign food, so I'm sure Kyoto adjusts to match the pallet of the southerner. So give it a go, it may be your favorite spot! read more

Made two visits in the past month I must say this place was surprisingly nice I normally buy sushi from the store my favorite is Fresh Market Spicy Shrimp/Crab California roll but this place is closer to my house and decently priced but the quality was top notch and the people are so hospitable! You must order the gyoza you won't find yourself regretting anything along with a few rolls and fried rice. I would have rated a 4. There are a couple of better Japanese places in town. But, I'm adding a star for great customer service. I ordered takeout, the volcano roll, which was excellent, and the hibachi chef's special (chicken, steak and shrimp). Unfortunately they gave me chicken only, which meant that I was overcharged $10. So, why the 5 stars? When I called the restaurant, they had already noticed the error. I was given a full refund. I appreciate that mistakes happen. The important thing is to make it right. Previously I gave a 4 star rating. My carryout order was incorrect. But, the manager was gracious and gave me a full refund. And, the incorrect order that I received was very good. This time everything was right. I got shrimp tempura, Karaage (like upscale chicken nuggets) and spring rolls for lunch, yum. I also picked up a couple of rolls to save for dinner, the spicy tuna and the Godzilla. I haven't tried these yet. But based on my last experience, I'm sure the sushi will be excellent too.
