Horrible experience and workmanship! Started with them forgetting the border around the patio. Continued with poor workmanship and no detail at all with stamping and color being all over the place. Notified John, the owner, of all the problems. He sent workers to "fix the problems". They didn't address most of them and created a bigger mess. When John, the owner, finally came to my home after the first set of workers. He look at my complaints (the photo with spots all over the concrete are from where powdered release was mixed with the sealer and spot sprayed all over the concrete when they sealed it), he needed me to point out why it didn't look good. Does that look normal? Also showed him the other issues with stamping and rough concrete sticking up all over. He assured me he would be at the site when the workers came back a third time, to make sure they fixed things right and had direction. A few days later two guys showed up at my back gate at 6:30pm with no warning... and NO John! With no supervision they proceeded to try to scrub off the dark color stained spots with Xylene and resealed it 20 minutes later. This did not fix the problem as the new sealer couldn't penetrate the concrete with the Xylene on it and not dried. The concrete still looks horrible and now has dull, sanded looking spots all over. Nothing was done to fix the poor stamping or any of the rough concrete sticking up. They were suppose to seal the tan square pad that put in, but said it didn't need it even after John assured me they would and they must of forgot. If you are not trained on installing colored or stamped concrete, don't advertise you are! Now I am paying for an experienced concrete company to fix this poor workmanship. read more

I called Sam the concrete man and John Sayre came out to give me a quote. While at my home he stated that a job of this caliber usually is around $7 per square foot for concrete resurfacing. However, when the final quote came through, with no upgrades being requested, the price came to $13 per sq ft. I wrote a nice email asking why the difference and kindly asked if they could work with me on the price since I really like John and thought they could do a great job. He responded that he would take a look and get back to me. I responded that I would greatly appreciate it and would ultimately like to work with them over others. A couple weeks went by with no response. I emailed twice and called twice, leaving messages. My intention for my communication was to book their services at the quoted price because again, I thought they could do a good job. I finally got an email stating that they would not be doing my job, with no explanation as to why. I guess this was a blessing in disguise, because if they act like this before a payment or contract, who know what would have happened with a 50% deposit. Very unprofessional in my opinion, to treat a potential customer that way. I feel like I was ghosted because I asked John if he could work on the price, and instead of following up with a quick email, he felt it would be easier to just ignore. read more

Not recommended! Sam the Concrete Man has amazing salespeople that are kind and accommodating but those accommodations fade once the project begins. We had one construction crew leave after the first day, they used pebbles instead of recycled concrete, they cut out about one foot on each side of the yardage that we paid for, they left the demo in our yard, and also never removed wood pieces that the contractor agreed to move. This forced the project to be delayed multiple days and after a large rain ensuring that the construction equipment would tear up our grass. Another crew was brought on days later and were great, however, a 2-day job was condensed into a one-day job creating a host of issues. The concrete subcontractor was delayed by three hours causing the crew to pour concrete at night. The crew asked us if it was ok to leave to eat with their families and return after. Of course we agreed, the poor crew stayed working in our backyard until after midnight, having to utilize our string lights to attempt to see. We were appalled by the treatment of the crew by Sam the Concrete Man forcing the men to remain working from 8 am-past midnight. We requested the job remain 2-days after the concrete delay, but we were denied. The quality of the concrete suffered greatly due to the lack of lights, the patio wasn't poured even, they didn't have time to seal, and multiple neighbors complained about the noise from the site as quiet hours begin at 9pm. They were supposed to return the next day at 4pm to seal, instead they returned after 9pm and forgot the sealer. The same crew had been put on multiple sites and had to go all over the state working constantly due to the mismanagement of Sam the Concrete Man. The next day the crew was supposed to return at 6 am as the forecast was rain and if the seal isn't placed in time the patio will be stained and that is what happened after the crew was again multiple hours late. Throughout this process we continually messaged Steve, our sales rep reporting all the issue that occurred and he never apologized or seemingly cared. Instead, I was asked to write a check without any discount or recourse apart from informing me that the crew would reach out to fix the patio issues. I am still waiting three months later. All in all, they lack management, communication, they treat their subcontracted employees terribly, and deliver subpar service that will leave you feeling gutted inside. read more

Scheduled appointment last week for a estimate. I was told I was in their service area and we scheduled a appointment a week out for 8-22-19 at 10 AM.I received a confirmation call on Wednesday that someone would be at my home at 10 AM Thursday 8-22-19. I said yes I will at my home to meet them for the estimate. I changed my schedule for the day so I would be home at 10AM. I received a call from Sam the owner at 8:30 AM Thursday and he said he could not make it. I informed him I just received a confirmation call and confirmed the appointment on Wednesday and changed my schedule around to meet him. Sam said it wasn't a job they could do. I informed him his scheduler said they could and even confirmed I was in their work area. I would give a 0 star if available. Poor business practice and terrible way to treat a customer after they called to confirm the appointment. Would not recommend this business. This is not the way you treat customers. read more
