This was beyond any expectations I could have imagined for any pizzeria outside of NY. Sami's in Smithfield was AMAZING!!!! To begin I will state I received exceptional customer service! Though this is not so much a traditional restaurant they were happy to serve and wait on us. The set up is on par with any pizzeria in NY. They step it up with a small bar in the back! Though I didn't sit at the bar I'd definitely be tempted to go again and check it out. The garlic bread and marinara sauce was a pleasant appetizer that set the tone for the meal. It set my hopes up for a delightful dinner and it did not disappoint. The pizza was such a surprise. I was so excited to find a pizza that I could compare to true NY pizza! During the course of our meal, we found out Sami is from New Jersey and so understands exactly what a pizza should taste like. The delicious dinner made me decide to delight myself in a cannoli. I was remiss to share with my son. The filling was divine. The perfect mix of sugar and ricotta, sweet without being overly so to still enjoy the flavor of the ricotta. You'd never expect a good pie in this part of North Carolina...but this place has some terrific pizza. I have only had their pizza, but their menu boasts a number of other options that shouldn't be ignored. Samis is pretty good pizza and they make their own bread there.. The garlic bread is pretty legit and full of flavor The Chicken alfredo was ehhhhh not alot of sauce or flavor and chicken was a bit overcooked... the zitti wasnt bad but couldve been better. I think the specialty for Samis is their pizza and garlic bread... The pizza sauce was good and their crust is pretty good... Came in on a recommendation while venturing out for the 301 yard sale. A couple ladies I came across recommended this place and it was the perfect place to end our day! As soon as we walked in the door, we were immediately greeted! I love that about a place! It was empty when we arrived, which was great, because were starved! I ordered the Antipasto Salad with the Balsamic dressing it came with and the Pepperoni Stromboli with mushroom and onion. My sister-in-law had the garden salad and a spinach, garlic and ham Calzone. It was all absolutely delicious! The owners were so friendly and easy to talk to. I loved that the wife was so friendly! If you're venturing out to Smithfield, you have to eat here! It did not take forever at all. I would say, the portions are huge, so sharing is a great idea, unless you want to take home left overs, which I was happy to do so. I've yet to be disappointed by anything I've had from here. Everything is delicious and the pizza is amazing. Big big slices,Like a New York style pizza. I stop in and get something almost every time I'm in town. They do sell by the slice. Which has gotten me in trouble a couple times when going in for lunch because the pizza looks and taste soo good I get more than I could eat. Great people who work the counter and the oven/kitchen. Tonight was my first time ordering from Sami's Pizza & Sub's. I was definitely not disappointed. I called last week asking some questions about the food and pricing. The lady who answered the phone was very polite and very helpful. She was happy to assist me with any questions I had. Sadly we ended up going with a more familiar pizza place because I was unsure of Sami's and Angelo's was just plain rude. So pizza night came around again and I definitely called Sami's. Again the lady (sorry I don't remember your name) who answered the phone was super kind and happy to take my order. I called around 6:10pm and She told me it would be about 40-45 minutes. They arrived before 7pm. I don't believe they were busy when I placed my order. Food smelled amazing upon arrival. Just a suggestion... Maybe invest into some pizza bags that will keep the food hot. First place I've found in the area that serves sausage parmesan. Let me just say, I was doing a happy dance in my seat. That was my first visit. When you use low quality ingredients on a pizza, it's very obvious. That's just a fact. They even use the tiny pepperonis like the ones you find on lunchables pizza. The crust was decent, maybe make the ovens hotter so it's crispier. And I got an "antipasto" salad which was iceberg lettuce and some very sad, stale and sparse toppings and a Pepperoncini stem, no actual pepper... looked like it had been bitten off. And they give you salad dressing in a single-serve pouch. What's even the point of having a restaurant if you don't care to feed your customers decent food? Being that it's a Friday night, my husband nor I felt like cooking. So we decided to order our usual on nights like this....pizza and wings. We wanted something different, something we'd never had before, so we chose Sami's. After hearing many people say nothing but good things about this place, we decide to place an order. Apparently there was a misunderstanding about our selection of toppings because when the pizza was delivered it was just a plain cheese pizza. We ordered pepperoni and extra cheese. And again, things happen, I know this. But when I called to see what our options were, I spoke to the nice lady who originally took my order. I explained that it was probably just a misunderstanding and was placed on hold. The next voice I heard was I believe to be the owner. I was not rude, shouting or any of the sort. I then explained to him the situation, and his tone and response was truly unbelievable. I asked him a simple yes or no question and I was met with a very dry, unfriendly response in which I replied "it was just a yes or no question". Overall, the pizza was good but I don't appreciate being spoke to like that when I'm conducting business with anyone. Especially when I approach the situation in a respectful, friendly way. read more
