I read somewhere that "the eyebrows are the boobs of the face" -- and I wouldn't trust anyone other than Meetra with my face-boobs. She's a miracle worker. In all seriousness, I have a 3-4 inch scar above/over my right eyebrow and the only person to ever make my eyebrows look good AND even is Meetra. Also, she is the only person who has given me a facial where I fell asleep. She's amazing. I highly recommend Simitra as well. Started to go to Samera about three years ago. I moved back to the Bay Area and was looking for someone to help me figure out what to do. I had spent most of my adult life in the Military and even though I got our years before, I had kept my hair short basically out of habit. Basically, I had no idea what I was doing. Samera was very patient with me and carefully explained what would work, what wouldn't and made a plan for how to get there. She approached it as a long term project (which it really was) and -although I only saw her once a month- she picked up the conversation and the plan like I had been in the day before. She has exceptional skill and I've learned to trust her advice. 6 months before my wedding I brought in a few pictures with different styles that my wife and I thought would look good for the wedding. She indulged every crazy idea, did exactly what I asked, but in such a way where I could always change it if I needed. She worked with me and taught me what I needed to know to get my hair where I needed it to be for my wedding. I'll probably get made fun of this by people I know, but frankly, I don't care. There's not a lot of people I would trust with my hair. Yes, I realize I'm a dude, and for most, a Supercuts would do just fine. But think of it this way, I keep coming back to Sameera for the very reason she puts together a rocking cut each and every time. She's amazingly consistent and works wonders with hair. If you want your hair cut by a local celebrity(her place has been featured in print publications) then you need to give her a chance. UPDATED: I didn't think it was possible, but she's even better than before in this brand new location. It must be the San Francisco water, because I still get a pretty rockin' cut every, single, time I come here. Heck, my haircut might even be Instagram-worthy now. My first experience at SAMITRA Salon was today. I walked in with a drugstore box color disaster on my hair and needed immediate professional remediation/intervention. A work colleague whose hair color and cut I admire slid me a Post-It with Samera's name, the name SAMITRA Salon on it, and a phone number that has changed my (external) life. I couldn't make the appointment fast enough. Upon entering her beautiful sunny salon studio space with French Café style music and well-selected décor, it was clear Samera has a great eye for design, for color and retro-modern style. She began with a consultation that created a foundation of trust and respect - it was immediately clear that Samera had seen my type of issue before. I walked in thinking some highlights might break up the "one color" look going on. She tactfully and knowledgeably posed at least 3 ways to improve or fix it, and most importantly to me, advised which of the 3 approaches would preserve and improve the look, shine, texture and appearance of Ache-y Break-ey baby fine hair like mine. I selected a strategy that involved a shade in the color family of my natural hair color, but much more avant/modern and complex looking. I walked out having been treated very well, with a brand-new, professional, sleek, sophisticated look that didn't damage my hair (nay, made it healthier!) in a shade that complements my eye color, skin tones, and I swear even makes my teeth look whiter! The overall result is fabulous and frankly, the shade Samera recommended is close to what friends had been recommending for years. I anticipate this color will continue to look modern, healthy and fresh many weeks from now and it's a shade I can wear properly to the office or spicily to a night out. I made my next appointment for 6 weeks from now. I've never in my life booked an appointment before leaving, because I've never loved my overall salon experience as much as I did today's experience at SAMITRA. The convenient location is a few strides from the sign heralding Twitter's 10th and Market Street arrival. For those of you who need to drive and park there, there is a (CHEAP -- $5/hour!) underground lot ¼ block away from Samera's SAMITRA Salon location at 73 Tenth Street. read more

How do I even begin? If your thinking about trying Samera (Samitra Salon) out, don't think any more and just book your appointment. You will be thankful you did!!!! Samera has brought my hair brought back to life. I have naturally curly hair and use to get the Japanese straightener done every 6 months or so. My hair was dull, brittle and dry. Since going to Samera and having the Brazilian blow out, my hair is now healthy and shiny. In seeing the transformation of my hair from what it use to be, I would NEVER EVER dream of having someone other than Samera work on it. She also does my color and extensions. I was somewhat skeptical at first of getting the extensions... I hated how you could tell on some people they had them and frankly some just looked out right hideous. Samera uses a different kind of extensions than other salons. They are 100% human remy hair, easy to care for and look extremely natural. I wash my hair like normal, I can brush my hair with a comb... people don't even know I have them in. I am totally addicted and now can't live without them. I am constantly stopped by women complimenting me on my hair.... their is only one person to thank for that and that's Samera.... I could never get my hair cut anywhere else at this point. I started coming here almost a year ago. I came in for my initial consultation and Samera looked at my hair for a few moments and immediately knew what would look best. She took me from a blah cut to a feisty asymmetrical 'do. Since then, I've gotten so many compliments on the cut and color. I've had strangers stop me in the street to ask where I get my hair cut. I've had cab drivers (men and women) ask for Samera's card (I keep a few in my wallet at all times). And, if you can believe this, I even got my last job because my now-boss saw me walking down the street and recognized my hair from a picture on my blog. She immediately asked if I could come in to the office for an interview. Now THAT's an awesome haircut. And if you didn't think it could get better, she does my cut + color in about 90 minutes flat, so I often come here during a lunch break so it doesn't interfere with my day. For the last five years of my life I can honestly say that I would never trust anyone else to do my eyebrows Every time I have ventured elsewhere out of desperation (usually because I was bad about booking in-time) it was a mess...even for top-notch brow boutiques in the city...no one does eyebrows like Meetra. She is seriously a brow-master jedi, and she will perfectly frame your face with her shaping techniques. Not only is she excellent at what she does, but she is friendly, knowledgeable and overall just awesome...I mean how many people can say that they have been dedicated devotees for five years?? I only recently started talking about facials, and was convinced to try the celebrity oxygen facial that infuses oxygen into your skin after extractions and all that other good stuff. I am very devoted to a skin care regimen and have regular facials, but Meetra goes above and beyond with the extractions which totally clear out any congestion in your skin. Even though I regularly do glycolic washes and peels, there was a ridiculous amount of build-up in my pores that I had no idea about. My skin felt amazing and was glowing for days. As a guy, its hard to tell someone how I want my haircut. I just want something that looks cool and fits my hair type. I was frustrated with countless salons that kept asking, how do you want it? What do you mean how do I want it? I'm a guy, how the f*** would I know how I want it? Just gimmie something cool...then they'd say, ok, how about a fo-hawk. Are you kidding me?!?!?! I walked into Samera's salon after telling her on the phone that I want something new and trendy and don't know what that means. She says to me in an assertive but polite voice: "Sit down and shut up!". 30 minutes later, the best haircut of my life. I'll be going back every 5.5 weeks and have been for a year now. I've been getting my hair cut by Samera for a number of years now & always leave more than satisfied. When it was long, I would get the Brazilian blowout and I would complimented almost daily on how it looked like I had just come from the salon. When I got bored of the shoulder length and decided to go with shorter hair styles, Samera was right there with me. In the past, it seemed like I could only find a stylist who did one thing really well (long styles, short styles, or color). But Samera is so skilled, she can do it all. And unlike other stylists who sometimes pushed their own aesthetic on me, Samera values my uniqueness & gives me the look that I want. Plus she can work with my sometimes vague requests, like "I want to look retro Hollywood glamour" - she gets its, and I leave happy. One of the things I really like about Samera's cuts is how they just keep looking good as they grow out. Even 2 or 3 months later, my hair will look like I just had it styled. She really knows hair & seems to have a great intuitive sense of how the different layers she works into the cut will fill out over time. The salon itself is another reason I love going to Samera. I made an appointment at 5pm, reached at 5pm. I waited on the couch until 5:15 before anyone seemed to notice that I was there. Then the lady told me that it'll be another 15 to 20 minutes. That means my appointment will start 30 minutes after the appointment time. That's ok, sometimes plans go awry. I asked when I can expect to leave. 6:30 to 6:45. I told her that I wasn't expecting a 1 hr 45 minute appointment for a haircut. Instead of any apology, or suggestions on how she can speed up my treatment, I got a very sarcastic "Well, sometimes these things happen in a salon. I can't just stop working on her treatment". I expected better attitude. Throughout the whole conversation, it felt like she didn't really want to give me (me, particularly) any services.
