We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were brought back to a booth immediately. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was packed and the noise level is super high.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are too many tables for such a small room[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .We had to wait over 15 minutes and had to get a waiter's attention. He was very nice, and professional . When the appetizers were getting ready to arrive, a woman brought out plates and proceeded to put them in front of us , reaching over me without excusing herself to where her face and mine were very close . The food was delicious. I recommend the mozzarella sticks and the meatballs. The lasagna is a very big portion . Caesar salad is incredibly tasty and the veal Marsala was god as well. [[HIGHLIGHT]]A bad thing about the place is you have to shout at each other because it's so loud[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] .

Sammie's is by far the best Italian in Austin! Great old school Italian vibe. The service is impeccable and the food is amazing! Took my parents here who were very impressed as well. The rigatoni is obviously the star of the show but everything else was also amazing! The ravioli and the chicken parm were great! Would recommend to anyone looking for a great Italian spot!

4.5 Stars Came with a friend one evening to snag a few drinks and light bites. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior is so cute and romantic![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They serve a yummy bread basket at the beginning with flavorful rosemary foccaccia and bread stick crunchies. The price points are on the high side but the quality is good. The calamari ($21) was wonderfully portioned, hot, and crispy and the Caprese ($18) was lovely too - it came with different types of fresh tomatoes. Our waitress was lovely.

Went here with my friends for a nice dinner and I'm so happy we came. The service was AMAZING! Our server was very attentive throughout the whole meal. The food was also delicious and I will say the real winner of the night was the rigatoni with ricotta. This was a nice ambiance with darker/red lighting. I would definitely come again!

I went to Sammie's for my birthday dinner and loved it so much I think I'm going to make it a yearly tradition. I loved everything about this meal. All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious and they even gave me a birthday dessert. Our server was so nice and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The interior design of the place is so good, like every aspect down to the matches and the photos hanging on the wall. It was just such a fun lively vibe in there.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They even offer valet because it's on a busy street (not free, don't remember how much but it wasn't expensive). I cannot wait to go back!

The food and wine were both delicious. Cesar salad was one of the best I've ever had, mozzarella sticks were a bit overrated for the price, vodka pasta is a must, but the cacio e Pepe was it extremely peppery and a little too lemony. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's really dark in the restaurant as well, so I would've preferred a window table.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service was great and everyone is very professional. Four glasses of wine, two apps, two pastas came out to $186 before tip

So delish and worth reserving two months out. Celebrated my anniversary and it was sooo special! I was worried that my expectations would be too high but they were definitely met. We got the ceasar, chicken parm, vodka pasta, and a couple of drinks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]More than anything I loved the ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Already planning our next date back :)

Seriously such an adorable, intimate Italian restaurant! The service is absolutely phenomenal. It feels very upscale. I loved the waiters' outfits and everyone was so helpful, friendly, and genuinely made it feel like they wanted me to have the best experience possible! I will say it's pretty small, which means it gets loud quickly. By the end of the meal my throat was honestly hurting from having to talk so loud the whole time. Now to the food. W. O. W. We started with the mozzarella sticks, which were so solid! They come with a pesto basil ranch that I would love to have in my fridge daily. We split the lasagna between two people and still had leftovers. That being said it was also $38 so definitely not cheap! Although the price is worth because it's massive and everything I could've hoped for and more. The chicken parm was good. I wouldn't say it was phenomenal, but I definitely wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend to anybody wanting to celebrate a fun occasion or just wanting some bomb Italian food.

Chicken piccata, soft chicken, yummy sauce and fresh noodles. The basket of bread was soo good!

Great food, great service, my martini could have been better but overall great experience.

One thing: MOZZARELLA STICKS. These have changed my life and I'll never be the same, plus the pesto sauce was an amazing pairing. Caesar salad was super unique too and tasty. Rigatoni amazing. Came here as a late bday dinner with my Austin friends since im from Chicago. Such a treat and will be recommending to all my friends visiting Austin.

Quick and attentive service (in and out in about an hour). Old school Italian restaurant vibes. Portions are generous and will probably have leftovers! Parking may be tricky, definitely plan ahead.

Had an excellent experience at Sammie's! The vibe is super cool/old-school as soon as you walk in. Love being able to see into the kitchen as well! Service was great, complimentary bread was yummy, and food was all delicious! A bit pricey, but a really fun time :) They also offer valet!

mafaldine and rigatoni
Dora S.

Perfect anniversary dinner spot!! I was craving the mafaldine pasta and it was wow...still SO good!! If you're a mushroom lover, you neeed to order this, i promise, its worth it!! The rigatoni was average. We got the cheesecake to share and it was meh, nothing special in my opinion.

Are there any Vegan friendly options?

Does Sammies still have a happy hour menu?

Are there any gluten free options?

Yes! I'm gluten free and I went here last night. The waiter was very accommodating and they definitely take allergies seriously. They can do the Caesar salad without breadcrumbs. Most of the sides and grilled items are gluten free. Also, the pasta…

Do they have bar seating?

Yes

The open table doesn't show me what's available - I spend a lot of time guessing at date and time just to say nothing is open. Then if I pick a date 2 months out, it says I'm too far out. How do I find out the closest available time regardless?

OpenTable is showing what's available - which is nothing, because this restaurant books out a month in advance. Check frequently (and early in the morning) for the date you want in a month from now.

Do they take walk ins?

I believe you need as a reservation as they are normally extremely booked. If you go to their website, there is a reservation button and you can select a date/ time and book via OpenTable. I made my reservation about a month out! Easy to use…

But it was more important to the Powder Room that the next group got their table on time, apparently. They had no issues when taking our second round order while we were seated, but we were asked to leave the table immediately after. This round also took forever and we drank it standing, crowded, in everyone's way. I was embarrassed as it was my birthday, and I was taking a group of 7 other people - new to Austin - here to check out what was one of my favorite spots. I was bragging about it and chose it over other spots on their list. They hated it. I'm disappointed. Our server was great to us and apologetic about the service bar.

The bartenders are really friendly, the bathrooms are immaculate, and the inside of the place is really cute -- think kinda pink vintage? There are some tables, and big comfy couches around a coffee table in the middle of the bar which is where we sat. I had one of their happy hour cocktails that was similar to a creamy espresso martini, and they are 50% off on happy hour days/times! My friend got one of their floral cocktails which wasn't discounted but I LOVED it personally. I also got a strawberry matcha drink (non alcoholic) that was a little too sweet in my opinion; I finished it but wouldn't get it again. Overall though the cocktails and vibe in there are worth a visit alone! When it's not too hot, the area outside has little mini-chandeliers and is also very vibey.

I usually only go to coffee shops to work, but today, went on a coffee date with my dog instead. There's ground floor parking in the garage that's complimentary for two hours. I kept it simple with a vanilla latte. I noticed they had tacos at the bottom of the food menu, but at $13.25 for two tacos + an a la carte item, I decided to pass. Maybe my expectations were too high (as usual) because it's inside a hotel, but I was hoping for the kind of warm hospitality hotels are known for, but instead, the service felt a bit cold. It didn't exactly make me want to spend more money there. While sitting on the patio, I spotted the food truck outside and thought, "PERFECT. A food truck HAS to be cheaper. Take that Simona's!" I walked up to the window... only to find out it wasn't actually a separate food truck. It was just the pickup window. To order? I had to go back inside to Simona's and place my order with the delightful staff... I ended up ordering two Blue Migas tacos, and honestly, they were just... good, but nothing memorable. They tasted like your average breakfast tacos that you can find all over Austin for less. Despite loving how relaxing the outdoor patio is with its lucious greenery surrounding you and the beautiful French chairs and cafe tables, it's located right next to the hotel pool. If you're visiting on a summer afternoon, expect some extra noise with pool guests. If you're looking for a quiet coffee or a place to work, I'd recommend coming early in the morning instead.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.
