The service is absolutely terrible. I have been going to sammy's since as long as I can remember, but I don't think I will ever go back. The workers are incredibly rude + unsanitary. I was the only person in the store today and nobody helped me for at least 3 minutes because they weren't paying attention. Whenever I order I feel like I am bothering them! One time a man was so rude to me and other people on line... to the point where everyone was uncomfortable. A few people and I briefly spoke while waiting on line ... couldn't believe how rude he was. Not to mention... they never gloves whenever they prepare food. The worst instance of this was when a cashier touched my food that was already bagged after I asked the simple question "was the bagel cut?" - spoiler it wasn't but she pulled it apart for me. I thought she would've just asked the guy who had made the bagel. I always feel rushed... even if nobody is behind me. 9/10 if you ask for a toasted bagel, it will not be toasted. the worst customer service i have experienced in a long time. My daughter in law was having a party and we wanted to get bagels and platters from a kosher store. One of her friends told us Sammys is kosher. We could not have had a more unpleasant experience. We called a few times and it went to voice mail. Finally on our 4th day of trying someone answered the phone. We asked if we could order a few platters and 3 or 4 dozen bagels. We were told that they don't take orders over the phone and we were directed to the website and rushed off the phone. We then went to the website to order. The website itself is not organized well and lead to some further questions. For example, the cream cheese platter doesn't have any descriptions as to what is included. It vaguely describes cream cheeses on a platter without specific types included. I have a child who is anaphylactic to nuts and we wanted to be sure that none included nuts. We then called again and after struggling to get through were redirected to the website. At this time, because we need kosher food, we went to the website and ordered bagels and individual cream cheeses by the pound. My wife bought disposable serving dishes to put the cream cheeses in as to have them presented appropriately and not in plastic tubs. Today , the food was delivered and an a large portion of the cream cheese was omitted, yet it was clearly on the bill. I called the store again and the woman offered to refund me the money and i asked if they could deliver what was missing as it was their error and she refused and got nasty. I asked for the manager and she said he would be in in 20 minutes. It is now 7 hours later and i have received no call back. Do not order from this place if you have a significant sized order or want to be treated like you matter to them. read more

I brought a late lunch to some people and they decided on this place. They ordered salads and I went with the tuna wrap. I called in my order and it was difficult putting in the order with the lady. I had to repeat several times and go through my order over again like she wasn't comprehending. I don't know what the deal was. They make you pay over the phone fyi. When I arrived I parked on the street but keep in mind parking in this area is tough. I walked in and they were a little busy. I went to the pick up area and the nice man gave me my food and I left. I should have read the Yelp reviews beforehand rather than trusting my friend. We ordered a personal size pizza and stuffed shells. The pizza was fine - nothing to write home about but also very big for a "personal" size. The stuffed shells were truly inedible: not fully cooked and flavorless. You guys need to compress your menu to fewer but higher quality items. And charging for water is a joke! read more

We were craving a good New York style pizza so based on the name we decided to come here. The pizza dough is on the bready side and not the thin crusty style that we expect. The cheese and sauce is average, cheese is not too oily and the sauce is very mild tasting. The undercarriage held onto bits of leftover burnt flecks which is not good. My experience this morning was not great. I have been here before & today I came in to pick up an order. A tall gentleman and a lady told me it was on the other side mind you this is a bagel order & I was on the bagel side. when I crave bagel, this place is always in my mind. Their bagel is soft/inside and almost crusty outside(just like how I like it)and add some cream cheese to it and you're in paradise. I took one star off because the coffee is just ok, not something I will visit here for, I usually come here as early as 7am to avoid the long lines that everyone is complaining about, The staff are doing their job jut fine. read more

Great food and great service. We ate lunch here on a Sunday afternoon in August. It was probably their busiest time and service was EXCELLENT. The person at the front register patiently took our order and explained some of the different items. The manager, Alex, prepared several iced coffees at the coffee bar and they were delicious. And the person at the bagel counter also patiently took our orders and accommodated some special requests. I had the Eggplant Parm and Garlic Knots and they were fantastic. My friends had several different kinds of pizza, including the French Fry Pizza - which they loved. The food was great and everyone that works here made sure we had a pleasant time. I was on the phone with somebody for 20 minutes placing an order when the phone call was disconnected. I found out later that the power went out in the store. I called back to complete the order (after already having given my credit card number), and some woman who professed to be a manager at Sammy's informed me that I never called, I never placed the order, no one ever took my credit card number, and that "I'm confused". My husband who was standing next to me got on the phone and said "excuse me, my wife is not confused as I heard everything she said because it was on speakerphone." This woman then told my husband that he's confused! I went on to tell her the price the employee had quoted me for my order, and to even tell her that he told me it would be an extra $10 to have a platter for my order. She continued to deny that this ever happened and continued to say she was standing next to this person who was "in training" and that none of this conversation ever happened!!! If I could skip a star I would give them zero stars. Every time I order food something gets messed up. My company ordered pizza from here for an order over $100 and they didn't deliver. When trying o call 3 times no one knew what to tell us, and it was too late to order from somewhere else. The food is good but it comes with a higher cost as well as the most miserable services I have ever seen, and the owner does nothing to fix it. Showed the Manager my receipt for the order and he just shrugged. No offer of apology or getting my order prepared quickly. I would give zero stars if possible. I am visiting my kosher in-laws from NYC and I volunteered to pick up breakfast with MIL and toddler for family Sunday morning. Neither the patrons or employees were masked, even though the signage at the door required masks and the line had people bottlenecked within inches of one another. I would never go back based on this alone. Congrats Bergen County - you are the richest county AND the leader in number of Covid cases in NJ. While 90% of the employees were maskless, there was not a smile in sight. The woman behind the counter was rude to my 60 year old mother in law, refused to toast a bagel with tuna fish because "it was fresh." We had to wait in a different area for our iced coffees (where no one was behind the counter) so after 5 minutes waiting and being told "someone would be over there," what I can assume is the manager walked over poured two black iced coffees and walked away. There was no "straws are over there, would you like milk," just a scowl and wordless walk away. We also ordered an egg sandwich which had to be prepared in the pizza section. We had to wait 20 minutes for it to be ready. While the pizza maker (was getting that section ready for the day) mentioned they were understaffed, they had at least 7 people working there which is way more than my neighborhood bagel store/greasy spoon ever had growing up in Essex county. I wish I could give these guys a 0 star rating. I ordered a pie at 8:15pm and picked it up at 8:35pm 25 minutes before they close. When I got home, I noticed the pizza wasn't a fresh pie, but leftovers they put together quickly in a box. When I asked them, their pizza chef told the person I spoke to that I was in a rush (clearly a lie) They texted me and asked if I want a refund. An acceptable bagel. Chewy, with a good crust. Overly dense. Cooked fairly evenly. Good quality cream cheese. The everything topping was a tad overcooked but just barely. We always viewed these guys as solid& dependable not amazing but better than going frozen...mainly because the service was ok as well...then tonight, we got there about 8:15 or so wait in line like 15 minutes to be told "sorry no pies until 9:30" ok upsetting, because there's 15 minutes of my life I'm not getting back... but as we're there already, I ask for some of the vegetable & fresh mozzarella slices they have in the display case at which point I'm told "sorry those are sold"...PAUSE TO PROCESS THIS LATEST NUGGET AND AVOID LOOKING CONFUSED OVER WHAT I JUST HEARD, TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND RESPOND; Sold!? Are u a pizza shop or a showroom?!... First you waste 15 minutes of my life because nobody can bother to hang a simple sign saying something like "No Pizza Orders Until 9:30" then you waste more time because you also cant be bothered to simply remove "sold pizza" from the display? If this place was on par with Saba's NYC, Prime Time Cafe in New Rochelle and /or Pizza Time or Amnon's in Bklyn, that'd be one thing...but the fact is all those places besides having infinitely better pizza also have a level of customer service that shows that A) they know how to make sure they're never over-overwhelmed...especially on those all important Saturday nights B) they realize that no matter how good their reputation and product, it can't come at the expense of their customer service... Very simple horrible customer service especially when crowded not enough care on the customer, need to be more nice and not so savage with my bagel also like listen to what i want don't rush like crazy and then charge me crazy for it, testing peoples patience. Disappointed! I gave it another try and it let me down again. Wait time for breakfast was more than half hour after ordering. The order was not right. Items were missing because they were "out of them" and they did not offer to replace them or refund. Fruit flies were buzzing around the sinks and tables were not bussed. The staff is so irreverent. I ordered a salad here today. While eating it, I found egg shells in the salad. When I called to complain and get a new salad or a refund, the person who answered said they can't do anything for me without a receipt (which I declined to accept when paying.) Even though I had my order form and could show I paid with credit card, they wouldn't do anything. When I asked to speak to the manager, she argued with me and then just hung up the phone.
