I have been a customer of this establishment for over 5 years. As of late I have noticed a shift in my service. The last 2 visits I had I've noticed my order is last even though I've placed it first. The first time brought my family because I've raved about how good the bagels are. We were the only ones in there to place our order. Customers who came afterwards to place their order, received theirs before us. My family noticed this, I said no, maybe they preordered, but that wasn't the case. The last time I went, I placed my order. Afterwards about 5 customers came in and placed their orders. Guess what? They have received their orders before me. I was giving this establishment the benefit of the doubt that it wasn't about race, but these last two instances, as an African American woman it was. Hopefully moving forward this establishment can treat everyone equally. read more

Food is fine and service is adequate. But pricing for certain things is ridiculous. I mean they charge you 25 cents per bagel just to toast it ... as if it truthfully costs them anything but waiting 1 minute for the toasting to happen!! ... honestly they should be ashamed of doing this. I get that some businesses are cash only - still think that in this day and age that is ridiculous when you know you're getting business. For breakfast and quick sandwich meals, this unassuming restaurant has become my go-to spot. Inside, the space is fairly large, with an L-shaped counter that receives orders, displays deli offerings, and daily bagel and roll availability. There's also a small counter space in the corner of the restaurant for those dining in. On most mornings, I've placed orders for basic breakfast sandwiches, and I've been generally happy with them. But don't stop with breakfasts. Most recently, I took a chance on their fun sandwich menu, many of which sport fun names like 'The Vegas' and 'The Batman'. I ordered the latter, and found it to be a hearty sandwich. The grilled chicken breast was warmed, the vegetables fresh, and I enjoyed that they offer macaroni salads as one of the side options. While I wouldn't say these are the best bagels in the land, or the most innovative sandwiches I've ever had, I'm hardly disappointed with my meals here. Service is fast and all orders are prepared fresh. Business has been brisk every time I've stopped in, with both in-person and phone orders quickly queuing up . Solid 8.3/10. I'm use to eating a more expensive breakfast and I decided to lower my expectations today. I was on my way to work and I was feeling a nice warm toasted bagel. And as simple as it is, I ordered a scallion cream cheese toasted bagel. The bagel had an excellent crunch and soft ratio. Cream cheese felt light and not overwhelming. This place was my go to bagel shop, until today. I went to purchase a croissant with avocado. To start the croissant was smaller then my hand (croissant compared to my 4 small fingers in photo), the avocado was basically brown already. As soon as I got home to eat it, I took a bite and the inside was completely rubbery & raw. I even tried to toast it to see if the croissant would cook a little more. The texture was like a rubbery fake dough. Absolutely disgusting, I've been coming here for years, I've never had an issue like this. I called and told the young girl and she said that's impossible. Picked up breakfast from here and was surprised that they didn't have many of the bagels we wanted, not even a plain bagel. Seems like this place is quite popular so get there early. I ordered the chai coffee and a croissant with cream cheese. The coffee was really good and had just the right amount of ice. The croissant was tasty, only negative was the size. It's not the size of a regular croissant. Consider this almost a mini. If you want a full breakfast order two. Nonetheless, good breakfast spot. I will be back! Note: 1 star removed for lack of options when we arrived re: bagels and size of croissant. Yelp should allow removal of a half a star. Service was ok. Ordered a Taylor ham and cheese on a bagel. The lady at the register charged me for egg too even though I didn't get any. Didn't say anything but it's the little things that count as they have raised prices of eggs. I also don't know of/heard of any BAGEL SHOP that charges an extra fee to TOAST a bagel. If it wasn't for that and the extra charge, I would say the food was actually pretty good and worth it. I ordered some deli meat a quarter pound worth. No problem right? I go to pay with my card when I noticed a cash only sign by the register. Keep in mind there are two lanes. One for ordering the other to pay. They don't have a sign in the ordering lane saying cash only before ordering and don't mention it when placing the order. I didn't have cash and they told me there is an ATM. What if I didn't have an ATM card? You just made something for nothing. Put a sign there when someone orders or better yet tell your employees to mention it before placing the order. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't tell you so you feel bad because you already ordered it and they made it so now you're stuck having to use their ATM which they probably own or get a cut from if they don't own it. It's shady as hell. It was my first time there and my last hope it was worth the $2.50 you made from the ATM . What I bought cost $2.75. It cost more than double what I bought between the ATM fee and what the bank charges to use the ATM. Well they lost a potential repeat customer. Been there over a dozen times now ...3 weeks ago I got 2 lunch sandwiches a cheese steak hero......sandwich was good but the condition of the hero roll was sad....I could guess what that roll had gone through....but would rather not.....(scary) I kissed it up to God and ate it....my wife wasn't pleased with here chicken salad sandwich either... I ordered a whole wheat bagel toasted with CREAM CHEESE ON ONE SIDE and bacon. They messed up my order and gave me a bagel with just cream cheese. I told them to take it back. They messed it up again and gave me a bagel cut in four pieces, each side was individually wrapped. One half had just bacon alone and the other half had cream cheese. I tried to explain to them what I meant by cream cheese ON ONE SIDE. Im actually a very frequent customer and it wasn't my first time ordering the same thing. When I told her to please take it back, she snatched it out my hand and threw the order behind her and told me I can just pay for my coffee insisting that I can no longer order from there. They mess up orders all the time and talk to their customers nasty when their at fault and think that it's ok just because they are family owned. I maintain that finding a good bagel place/deli is a challenge. Sadly, Bagel Twist doesn't answer the bell...& I have been a customer for some time. The prices are considerably higher than their competition, certainly, and while the bagels are good... the orders are almost never right! Easily 50% of the visits I have made to Twist, I have come home with the wrong egg sandwich, no condiments or tomatoes and lettuce on a hero... or some other issue wherein the order is incorrect. 5 stars denotes "as good as it gets" and this place is as good as it gets. The sandwiches are always well made and they love customized orders bc this is a real deli and not some fake, corporate food company. The salads and sides are great. The bagels are made fresh every day and delicious. You order and wait for your food and there's often a line of locals and high school students waiting for their food so you should go prepared, don't try to hem and haw when it's your turn to order. I get their everything or garlic bagel with lox and cheese when I'm feeling like big and important. I also enjoy a roast beef with swiss, lettuce, tomato, and onions with mustard. They also have a breaded chicken cutlet that is pretty damn good on a Portuguese roll. They have the fancy sandwiches on their board but I like the classics. Everything is fresh, well-made, and it's a popular spot so there's a high turnover here. It's what every neighborhood wants and needs. btw, they just got an espresso machine and bubble tea equipment. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. If you like your bagels BURNT, then this is the place to go. I've gotten breakfast here multiple times but I will NOT be returning. My order was seemingly simple- 2 eggs on a sesame seed bagel, toasted with salt/pepper and butter. First strike, two people who ordered after me received their orders before I did. When I inquired about my food, I got it and paid for it. After about 15 minutes, I say down to eat my bagel and it was BURNT. The eggs were also overcooked. I should have taken a picture to show how black this bagel was. It was undeniable. Now, I'm annoyed but still hungry so I proceeded to return to the establishment. There were two women at the counter. The younger woman was clearly trying to ignore me as I said "excuse me" to get her attention. She instructed the older woman (who originally took my order) to talk to me. When I presented the brunt bagel, she took it without saying anything. She didn't ask me what my order was or more importantly APOLOGIZE! She returns about a minute later with a lighter toasted bagel. She proceeds to give me the SAME eggs and just change the bagel. By this point, it's been ~30 mins since I've had the bagel so clearly the eggs are not warm anymore. I tell them I don't want this and to make a new sandwich. She says "NO". Is this how people do business in NJ? I've never been to an establishment that was clearly in the wrong and been told no! So I proceed to ask for the refund. The older woman THROWS the money on the counter. Now, I had to realize I wasn't in NYC because she would have really gotten her feeling hurt for being so rude. Clearly the employees at this establishment don't understand customer service. So good! I've been getting a toasted everything bagel with sliced lox and plain or scallion cream cheese, tomatoes, and onions and it's delicious. Sometimes I'll just get it with lox spread. I should branch out and try other things. I only wish the bagel and portion was bigger because it's so good. The people here are also so nice and always ask if you want a coffee. They've also recently renovated and expanded and it looks really nice inside. They even have freshly squeezed orange juice available. But be prepared to pay with cash, there's an atm Inside. The most amazing bagels around. They are the perfect combination of fluffy on the inside and dry/ crunchyish outside. They have all the basic bagels plus some specialty flavors. Also They have a wide variety of delicious cream cheese spreads, as well as breakfast sandwiches and lunch items (salads, burgers, panini).
