If it's not, maybe they're just having an off day. But today, I feel it's necessary to share my experience with Carlos Automotive Repair Shop, both as a fair warning to others and in the hope that the shop addresses some serious issues. I chose this place because it's only six minutes from my home and I like to support local businesses. I'm new to the neighborhood and found them through a quick Google search. First Visit: My first experience was with rear axle work. I was told it would be done by a specific date. I understand things don't always go as planned -- and I'm okay with that. The job was eventually completed, but they forgot to tighten my lug nuts, and I ended up losing two while driving. Their tech had to remove two from another wheel just to keep me going until I could get to AutoZone. I let it slide -- mistakes happen. Second & Third Visits: The last two visits, however, happened within 24 hours and were unacceptable. I stopped in for a simple annual inspection. As I walked into the office, the woman at the desk was polite and helpful. But before I could even speak, the only mechanic on duty shouted from the garage, "Ayo, is that your car? I need you to move out the way." It was loud, rude, and unprofessional. I stepped out to move my car and returned to ask about the inspection. The front desk lady said it would take a few hours because they only had one tech and inspections were first come, first served. Fair enough. She suggested I come back early the next morning. So, I did -- I came back and double-parked near the shop while waiting to check in. And again, the same mechanic came out and yelled, "Ayo!" while pointing, demanding I move because he was backing up. At that point, I realized this guy must think he's a traffic enforcement agent. He was more focused on shouting at customers than doing actual repairs. I drove by and looked into the shop -- just as I suspected, only one person working. Bottom Line: This business clearly does not need or want new customers. One mechanic, poor communication, and a complete lack of professionalism in dealing with people. The work ethic here is like flipping a coin -- maybe you'll get lucky, maybe you won't. I will never return to this shop. And if you value your time, money, and safety -- I suggest you think twice before doing business here.

After a few days, I picked up the car and saw the issue wasn't fixed. He then said it might be the gear mount and charged me again. Still no fix. He blamed defective parts and asked me to come back. When I did, he was on vacation and left it to a worker who clearly had no clue what was going on -- and I got another bill. After promising a refund if he couldn't fix it, I gave him one last chance. I waited three hours and he never touched the car. Then he gave me a $1700 bill and refused to return my car unless I paid. He held my car hostage. Ami is full of smooth talk and zero results. This shop is a scam. Don't make the same mistake I did.

They had the part I needed, although the worker almost gave me the wrong part, realized his mistake and gave me the right one. He was friendly and helpful. Don't come here not knowing what you need. If you need a part, go online first and see what you need before you make the trip. It will make it easier when you get to the store. Outside looks a bit cluttered with discarded auto parts, not very clean. It's because ppl fix their cars in the parking lot, and don't clean up. The area might seem sketch cuz it's right by the BQE overpass, and there are mechanic shops nearby, but you'll be fine it's safe. Be wary of ppl who offer to fix whatever issue you have with your car. They hangout in the parking lot. They may break your and they're not affiliated with AutoZone, so buyer beware.

Usually when I take the time to write a review, I expect it to show up and not have Yelp decide not to keep it!! I live in Brooklyn and some guy deeply scratched up my bumper parallel parking. I also had some damage to the car that I wanted to have fixed that had happened prior to my owning it. I was telling a friend about the guy scratching my bumper and he recommended that I go to Sam's Auto Body Shop. He told me he had brought a couple of cars to be fixed there. So, based on the recommendation, and the good reviews on this site, I brought my car to Sam's. He was great. He explained everything he was going to do, stuck to the estimate, and the car was ready within the time he stated. He even did extra work that I wasn't charged for because he wanted to stay within the estimated price. Who does that? The car looks great! Not one scratch and the damaged area looks good as new (photos attached may be hard to see from the reflection on the car). Definitely go to Sam's if you want good work and not get ripped off. read more

I wholeheartedly recommend Sam's Auto Body Shop. I brought my car in for the first time last week, after being sideswiped by a taxi. Upon inspecting the damage, Jimmy (I guess Sam's brother, based on other comments here) assured me that not only would it be easy to repair - no dents, just scrapes and paint transfers that could be buffed and touched up - but he would be able to fix it all for much less than the cost I had anticipated. He had the repairs completed right then and there, and the car was good as new within about two hours; the actual bill amount ended up being about half what I had expected. Jimmy and everyone else I dealt with were incredibly polite and honest, and Jimmy was especially helpful with his thorough explanation of the repairs they did. Not that I hope to have a reason to return there too soon, but I will absolutely go back to Sam's whenever I need any body work on my car in the future. read more

my 98 grand cherokee had problem with starting engine and electoric problems. I read all this review and went to Sam, I am so glad I went to him. I don't know much about cars, but he explained everything very clear what needs to be done and whats price range. He also told me if its anything else, he would call me before he dose anything. In couple days when I went to pick up my car, Sam explained what he did and showed me all pieces were replaced. The problem could have been anything, but the price was very affordable, and labor fee and everything was very clear. I felt right way that the car runs much better now. He is very professional and takes care of your car very well without charging extra fees. Overall, Sam is very honest and professional, I am so happy I found them. Have a Lexus which was side-swiped by a "hit & run" driver on Monday AM. Front fender and side of bumper was damaged. Since Sam's is a GRX shop, brought my car in the same day for repairs. Sam and his brother Jimmy were very efficient and friendly as they dealt with my concerns. Well believe it or not...Sam's Auto Body got the parts, painted the parts, made the repairs and turned the car around back to me in 2 days. I got the car back on Wednesday after dropping off on Monday and only paid my deductible. When I picked up the car, notice a small gap between bumper and headlights. They adjusted it on the spot. Wow...work was good turn around quick. Sam's Auto Body also washed and detailed the car. I also found out that they will even do oil changes and other car repairs/maintenance. Sam's is the jam. My car was demolished by a milk truck in bushwick. As soon as I called Sam's they took over everything. They dealt with the other drivers insurance, they collected the car, and the did FANTASTIC WORK. My car is a unique orange color, and a limited edition, and they matched it perfectly. I figured the car would take a month or so just because it looked terrible. I was driving it in 10 days. The staff was really nice, and magicians with a paint gun. Cannot recommend Sam's enough. It's the only shop you should use in NYC. Especially if you have a unique color. read more

Great service, reasonable prices. Sam does great work and treats you like a person. I took my MDX to Acura for a quote - 6 to 7000, and they acted like they weren't even interested in my business. Sam estimated around 3500 to 4000, and the final price was actually even a bit less. The work was great - it's been 6 months and everything still looks and works great. He even buffed out some scratches and dings that weren't in the original estimate. I recently had an issue with the electrical system and Sam took care of that for me too. Female Friendly Mechanic & Auto Body Shop! Yes its true! You can bring your car here, and know they wont try to rip you off and give you the creeps. . They fix your car with no BS or any wheeling and dealing. Sam and his team are always respectful and do a great job with your car. Also, Sam is one of the nicest people you could ever know. Twice now this year I have taken my Mazda to Sams. Once for a hit-and-run dent that happened on the street and the second time I was rear-ended on on the highway. I had the opportunity of having my car worked on at Sam's Auto Body Shop at 50 Old Fulton Street in Brooklyn, NY. The staff is amazing, very helpful, cost of repair is reasonable ,and i like the quality of their work. Not to mention , they have your vehicle ready in a reasonable time. Great service, great job. I was side swiped by someone on the Belt Parkway and had body damage to my fender, door, bumper, mirror and wheel. Dropped the car off on Monday and it was ready Wednesday, looking as good as new. They even touched up some minor scratches on the rear bumper without charging me. The guys that worked there were friendly, no nonsense. Would definitely go back, though hopefully I won't have to. read more

Excellent work on my 2000 BMW black wagon. It was t-boned and they took the time to restore it. They did more than expected at an excellent price, even showed me the parts that had to be removed from my car with out me asking. I towed the car to his shop which was just a few blocks away, he put my car on the lift in his shop and went to work right away. Not a place where you come in for an oil change and they make up some other repair you need 2. Fast. Usually, I come around 10-11 on a weekday, and for minor items, you're in and out in 20min; for bigger issues, maybe you leave it a few hours. 3. Quality. I had my Volvo bumper partially pulled off years ago and went to the dealer. They "fixed" it, but it popped out again a few weeks later. Clinton Collision fixed it for short money and it's held for a couple of years ago. 4. Helpful but not pushy. Things like, "Hey, you don't need new brakes/tires now, but you might want to think about it in six months." Seems like a family-owned business, which is always a plus. Highly recommended!

After doing some research, I learned that they were the only shop open, and I was lucky to have come across them, even if by accident. The customer service was outstanding from the start. The staff was extremely friendly and understanding, and they didn't try to upsell me on unnecessary services like I've experienced at other places. After getting the battery replaced, they also diagnosed a bad alternator, and the repair was done quickly and affordably. They even fixed a loose gasket on my muffler and replaced my oil pan, which made a huge difference in how my car runs. I've been to Pep Boys in the past, but their prices are sky-high, and I never felt like the service was up to par. Top Notch Auto, on the other hand, was not only way more reasonable in pricing but the quality of work was impeccable. My car now drives like it's brand new--even with 110k miles on it. Mohammed and the team at Top Notch Auto are hands down the best mechanics I've found since moving from Manhattan to Park Slope. I'll be coming back for all my future car needs without a doubt. They really went above and beyond, and I can't recommend them enough!

He may be a good mechanic according to other reviews, BUT…read more..... Very poor management skills. I had an appointment to bring my car in, when I arrived he said he is two busy, bring it back in a couple days. NOT HAPPENING.... Now I lost my parking spot and rearranged other appointments for nothing. Forums another mechanic same day after this happened and he said give him 45 minutes and he will take care of it. Now that's great customer service.
