This is my second review on Junior's - and yes I know it is the right one. Now I know it is the son who learned from the father. After multiple attempts to get my car registered - juniors flagged it (read my other review) I finally found another shop who did the repair for 400 - not 800 as Junior quoted - then told me to drive around to make sure the light wouldn't come one. Just to check out the integrity on my old friend, I went to him first. THE LIGHT HADNT COME BACK ON - and he told me I can't pass you because there's a knocking noise. I said bye and went to the other place 3 minutes away, passed my inspection and got my sticker. Junior made me pay 100 dollars to get me car released, after having done no work. He quoted me close to 900 when another shop did it for 400. He had me flagged in the system so I couldn't get my car fixed by anyone but him. I found a shop, who knew what he was up to and was able to do it. But in the meantime I got two tickets. Sooo, Junior cost me 100 straight cash for nothing and 120 in tickets. Let alone headache after headache. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SHOP. read more

Stay away from this place. Had a check engine light come on, went to have it checked, was told it would take more than 12 hours to fix and $4200. I said no. He charged me $150 for the code scan, there was no actual investigation of the problem beyond the scan. He's a criminal. No one charges for code scans. I love these guys. We started out as a one-car family, a pretty old beater, which they took really good care of for us. When we made the jump to a second car for a new job with a long commute we, of course, trusted it to the folks at Juniors Auto Repair. The second car was pretty new and unfortunately got damaged when we had to drive in a tight situation and mis-judged the available space. These guys did a fabulous job fixing up the new car and making the body look as good as new. They do good work. They check all the boxes for what I want for auto care: setting reasonable expectations, giving an estimate before starting work, giving us a call when the work is done, and have been very accommodating when I went to pick up the car and was running late. We have been using Junior's for regular mechanical work for our Subaru for several years and have always found them responsive, nice, efficient and very competent mechanics. Recently I started commuting by car and bought a little Fiat Abarth 2017 because it is the only car that will fit up my narrow driveway. Unfortunately, just a few weeks after I bought it, I scraped it quite badly trying to navigate past a car that was partially blocking the driveway. I called Junior's to see if they could recommend a body shop and it turns out they have a body shop around the corner. Sean asked me if I might want to drive it around for a while and get used to it before spending the money on repairing it, which was very sweet, but I use it for work so I can't really drive it around looking banged up. This place is great!! I was driving in from Boise when my engine started shaking and the "check engine" light came on. The next day, I looked up auto repair shops, and Junior's was the only one I saw that was open on a Saturday. I called, expecting to be told I'd have to wait a long time, but he told to me to bring my car in so he could check it out. He quickly found the root cause of the problem - a melted spark plug wire causing one cylinder to misfire - and fixed it up within an hour. The price was agreeable, and he was extremely kind. I called at about 8:30 am to see if they could help and DREW said come right in. After working, I made my way down around 10:30 and met SEAN who was an absolute gem from beginning to end. He kept me up to date with all things that my car needed and he even bought to my attention an issue I forgot to mention. This business was highly recommended by several people in my building. This is the best auto shop I've ever been to. They are honest and professional. I went in to get my alignment checked and they told me I didn't need it re-aligned. I also went in last month to do the yearly inspection. Multiple times at other places I have been told I failed inspection and had to pay someone to run my car to get enough miles on the odometer to pass. I took my car here for a simple inspection tag clearance. Got there on one of the hottest days of the summer of 2020. It took over an hour for someone to come look at my car, and all I came for was for my inspection tags to be updated. When the guy who came to look at my car saw it he started a ridiculous rant, he goes "your side view mirror is smashed and that's a problem", it was just cracked and is fine, then he goes "your flood lights are broken and need fixing or you're in trouble" flood lights are an extra lighting in a car that's not a necessity, not all cars have flood lights but I did and they never worked since I had bought the car pre-owned, then he kicked my tires and goes "these tires are gonna be a problem" the tires he's referring to had only been on the car 3 years and are high quality Hankook tires that I purchased brand new from auto zone, he also had the nerve to say "I didn't even start your car yet and I can tell your brakes and engine are going to be a problem" by this time I was internally furious and was just waiting for him to complete his once over before leaving that place. He then looks at my bumper and says "your bumper is cracked and needs replacing or your definitely failing inspection". He made some comments on my windshield wipers that he didn't even start, talked about my step rail being a problem as I drive an SUV, then he goes and I swear to every god, he says "you're looking at well over $4000. In repairs before this car can even be considered for inspection... I said thank you then called my cousin up who had some mechanic friends. He referred me to a buddy of his who then took me to a mechanic shop that does inspection. They plugged my car up, checked the engine, the brakes, and the exhaust, walked around it a few times, checked the electrical stuff, then gave me my sticker, I paid the $40. Fee and I was out of there headed back home.. my car has ran just fine without a problem right up to my last inspection a few weeks ago which I also passed... if I could give Junior's auto scammers less than 1 star I would.. lesson learned. read more

The muffler on my friend's car started acting up, which means you can hear the car engine for about a three block radius. Since the car was under my care, I offered to take it in, and the nearest place that popped up for a VW with good reviews was Junior's. The good: - Problem solved! The muffler stopped being so noisy and the engine ran more smoothly. - Excellent service including topping off the transmission fluid and turning off all the various check engine lights (which all came back on in a couple of days), clear explanation of the work at hand, and the guys were super friendly. +1 Star The not so good: Insane overcharging! A spark plug replacement, was $200+, and when my friend found out, he asked me to confirm that nothing else was done. So I asked and a very thorough explanation was given about the spark plug being cracked. It turns out that a spark plug job typically runs $60-80 max, and it's something a novice can do with parts running at most $20. The muffler work was apparently also overpriced as the total was $600+. I guess I got the girl rate? Perhaps this place is best reserved for more savvy car service shoppers. read more

I stumbled upon this place 20 minutes after purchasing a used car from a shady dealer. The engine light and TCS warning light had just come on. Since Junior's isn't located anywhere near my neighborhood, I told the mechanic that I just wanted to check if the car was safe to drive home, considering the warning light. The mechanic checked the error code and explained exactly what was wrong. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say that he knew exactly what he was talking about and explained it very well. Professional and highly experienced. I recently purchased a relatively new Volkswagen diesel car, and I knew that due to their rarity, I will have to make some sacrifices in terms of keeping the car in good condition. After about two weeks of owning the car I noticed that it was a bit sluggish so naturally I was a little upset, especially after a short period of ownership. I didn't want to go to a VW dealer due to higher costs so I found Sean and Junior; finding a diesel mechanic in Brooklyn is difficult enough so finding them was a true treasure. I stopped by the shop, had a small test drive with Sean and he immediately understood that the car's turbo was in fine shape (my concern) and he had some ideas of what the problem could be. I left my car in the shop and Sean said that he'll scan the car to see what's wrong. On my way back home I remembered that the car was covered under the VW emissions warranty and shortly after Sean called me and said that he quickly figured out the problem after scanning the car. I told Sean that the car was under warranty, and he replied that I could pick up the car the next day and he wouldn't charge me anything for quickly figuring out the problem. This auto shop is full of seasons professionals who specialize not only in gas but diesel engines; for anybody owning older diesel cars in NYC, I can't emphasize how knowledgeable these guys are in regards to newer and older diesel engines. Best honest mechanic period! "Very good, does a great job... would recommend"

When i first conducted business with this auto shop, it was a great experience. But my overall experience changed when i got into an minor accident in January, the person that hit my car and i went to the auto shop and i asked to have them assess if there are any damages to my car bumper. Junior coworker failed to tell us that there was damages to the bumper and what they decided to do is add screw our brand new bumber for it to be able align. Five months later, i decided to have my head lights replaced, after the front bumper was removed i notice that they added screws to my bumper without my consent or tell me so the person that hit my car would replace my bumper. I will never go back to this shop... In response to Sean: Sean when I came in to see you about the bumper, I asked you was there any damages to the bumper? You said "no." When my husband came to the Saturday to see the car and he asked if the absorber was also installed? You said "yes" which it wasn't. So you lied to us about the condition of the bumper and you wasn't there to determine if it was a tap to my car... the holes on the bumper are torn. Also, Sean was not the one that installed the bumper, it was another mechanic and he added screws for the bumper to be secured..How can it be fraud and it brand new bumper that was on the car (obviously that's why the bumper is black because it was going to be painted.) Junior's auto repair needs to take responsibility of their mistakes.... read more

After two disappointing diagnostic visits in Staten Island to repair my 2007 VW Rabbit, I turned to Junior, Sean (his son) and his crew for help. They delivered in a big way. The moment I arrived, Junior hopped into the car to diagnose the issues I was having on the road. The wealth of knowledge between him and his crew is unbelievable - he identified each issue just by listening to the sounds the car made on the road. In terms of transparency, Junior will invite you INTO the garage and under the lift to show you EXACTLY what he did, how he did it and why he did it. I brought my car in for repairs 3 days before Christmas. My front end axles were shot, and two of my four rims were bent beyond repair. Despite the holidays and limited access to parts, Junior exhausted his resources and connections to locate everything needed for the repairs. This is one of the best auto repair shops in Brooklyn. I needed a new battery. I went in and they replaced it in 15 minutes at a good price. They checked my fluids and cleaned off my engine without my even asking. And then they backed my car out of the garage and onto the street. The mechanics were friendly and knowledgeable and willing to explain what they were doing. As a car owner for over 20 years, I've never had a better experience with a mechanic in Brooklyn. Sean took very good care of me. I own a VW TDI and any other TDI owner will understand my hesitancy in taking my car to a new mechanic, especially a shop that doesn't advertise themselves as TDI specialists. After troubleshooting a coolant leak on my own with little success, I brought the car into Junior's on a Saturday. Sean was able to run a pressure test and find the leak(s) before the day ended. Sean was very TDI knowledgable and even pointed out a few common problems (verified by another shop and tdiforums.com) with my model. He was also able to get VW specific parts right away and get me back on the word quickly. Throughout the entire process Sean was timely and communicative; he even noticed that my NY state inspection had just expired and offered to renew the inspection. Great guy, will be back. read more

Before shipping my car (Volkswagen) up to NY I got it "fixed" by a local auto repair I spent over $1k to fix everything. however 3 weeks later I had the same exact problem (coolant leaking causing the car to over heat). Shawn updated me everyday and even kept my car an extra day to get to the root of the problem and retest it countless times without charging me for extra labor.
